Abstract:
Abstract Pesisir Selatan is one of the districts in West Sumatra with a humid tropical climate with temperatures reaching 32°C during the day. The majority of coastal communities work as fishermen and build houses on the beach, such as in fishermen’s housing in South Painan. In this area there are two models of fisherman housing, namely government-assisted fisherman housing and fisherman’s original housing. Housing on the beachfront will be faced with quite extreme climatic conditions such as air velocity, air temperature, and air humidity which are relatively high on average. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the level of thermal comfort in the space in both models of fisherman housing to determine the performance of each fisherman’s housing in dealing with the climate. This study uses a quantitative approach by measuring the parameters of thermal comfort, namely air temperature, humidity and air velocity using a thermohygrometer and anemometer. The data collection method uses descriptive quantitative. Comfort level is evaluated based on the Indonesian national standard (SNI 03-6572-2001) and adaptive thermal comfort. Based on the results of the study, the level of thermal comfort in both models of fisherman housing is classified as uncomfortable according to SNI 03-6572-2001 and adaptive thermal comfort.

Abstract:
The Fisherman Card as a proof fisherman identity is a form of formal recognition of the existence and rights of the fishermenby the state. The implementation of the fisherman card from Jakarta up to remote areas is regulated in the Decree of theMinister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries No.16 of the year 2016 on the Fisherman Card. The government through theMinistry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, c.q. the Provincial Office as well as the Municipality Office of Marine Affairsand Fisheries are targeting that the whole fishermen in this area would hold the fisherman card. Since its launching in2013 until the implementation of the Ministerial Regulation on the Fisherman Card, many fishermen have not received thefisherman card while those who hold the card do not understand the function of the card. The Kupang Municipality up to the144JAP UNWIRA, Vol. 1, No. 1, Januari - Juni 2020mid of 2017 has covered only 26.74 percent of the fishermen as card recipients. This research utilizes the Dunn theoreticalframework that covers the aspects of effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equality, responsiveness, and correctness to analyze theimplementation of Fisherman Card in Kupang Municipality. The research period that started from June through September2017 in five coastal villages (Nunbaun Sabu, Nunbaun Delha, Pasir Panjang, Oesapa, Lasiana) found that 73.26 percentof the fishermen had not possessed the Fisherman Card. Worse even, the card holders did not understand the purpose of thecard. The low percentage of card ownership is considered as caused by inadequacy of technical apparatus and human resourcesthat could not cover the whole fishermen of Kupang Municipality. The Fisherman Card is also gender-biased in that itaccommodates only fisherman as narrowly defined by the Law No.7 of 2016 as a person whose occupation is catching fish. TheFisherman Card neglects the pre and post activities of fish catching as well as of salt farmers, most of which are female works. The halfhearted recognition by state of the existence of fishermen who are involved in every link of the marine and fisherywork-chain is nothing but an indicator of the state’s absence to fulfill the rights of fishermen, and of fisherwomen in particular.

The objective of this research is to collect fishery based household livelihood vulnerability database, to know government efforts in reducing the vulnerability and to maintain the sustainability of fisherman's livelihoods based on terubuk. The research method is conducted qualitatively by involving informants directly or indirectly with fishing activities and fishery business terubuk. The results showed that the change of livelihood of fisherman fishery-based fishermen was caused by environmental change either from ecological asphek or from social culture asfek. Being a fisherman is a derivative work of the ancestors, the sources of vulnerability that occurs not only from natural capital (fish terubuk) but also socially, economically, and politically, the vulnerabilities of fishery-based fishery-based households are initially shaky. This vulnerability is a seasonal trend and is a habit for fishermen.

Abstract:
Background: The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in both developed and developing countries are 30% - 75% with increased risk reported among women, elderly, obese individuals and those with low sun exposure. Fisherman has been acknowledged as an occupation with high sun exposure. However, a previous study showed that 4 in 5 fishermen were vitamin D deficient. The objective of this study is to investigate vitamin D intake and sun exposure among fishermen. Method: This cross-sectional study recruited fishermen residing in the working area of several public health centres in Mataram and West Lombok districts. The subjects were classified as fishermen and non-fishermen. Vitamin D intake and sun exposure were the the main variables. Results: One in two fishermen and three in four non-fishermen exhibited low intake of vitamin D. Fish intake in the fisherman and the non-fisherman groups were 937 gram per week and 652 gram per week, respectively. The most consumed fish was tuna. Fish intake of 937 gram per week was equivalent to ~12 µg vitamin D intake and 23.6 nmol/L vitamin D concentration. The majority of subjects were unable to achieve the optimal UVB radiation. Conclusion: Insufficient vitamin D intake and limited sun exposure are prevalent in fisherman and non-fisherman groups.

Abstract:
THE FISHERMAN, a novel set during Prohibition, explores the relationships of the Constanin family in St. Pierre, a French fishing village on the island of St. Pierre et Miquelon in the North Atlantic. The novel depicts the family’s proud Basque fishing traditions, the struggle between father and son, the perils of life on a 120-foot rum-running schooner, and the pursuit of a mob boss through the mean streets of New York City. It is a first-person, historical narrative set in multiple locations. It is a character-driven story like The Kite Runner, but with the attention to rich historical detail akin to Water for Elephants. THE FISHERMAN recreates another time, place and practice–in this case, the grueling lives of cod fisherman in the North Atlantic. In the end, Daniel discovers that he is indeed a fisherman. He becomes the man he hoped he would be–his father’s son.

Abstract:
The scene of a local motorcycle taxi driver hand-knitting a small fishing net at his stand next to a canal will never fade away from my childhood memory. It was the first time I saw the life behind the fishing net. Throughout my textile practice, I’ve reconsidered the fishing net with curiosity and nostalgia. Behind its mesh and diamond shaped structure, I see craftsmanship and the story of its creation. I would like to preserve and encourage these precious values in the net with my Master project Sitting with The Fisherman. The fishing net is reinterpreted to everyday life with a trace of stories within it. The net becomes a tool to gather people together like the fishing net does in the fisherman village. This project will be a pilot idea to others in different contexts, to preserve their precious traditional craftsmanship, to keep it alive by transforming the skill and technique to a new interpretation.

Abstract:
This piece of work is a practical semiotic approach to oscar wilde's tale "the fisherman and his soul. I have restricted my analysis to the enonce. This application is essentially divided into two parts : the first one is a narrative approach devoted to the investigation of the four phases which constitute the narrative schema. Manipulation, competence, performance and sanction. The second part, on the other hand, is centered around the semantic level withafocus on the figurative paths, the discursive configurations and finally the thematic composition of the major actors. I have also articulated the tale according to the three dimensions of the semantic analysis : figurative, thematic and axiologic levels in order to shed light upon the major semantic oppositions in the text. The semantic part is concluded by an approach to the dimensions of space in its relations with the quest for independence. All these levels of analysis are meant to consider the enonciator's ideology in the chosen text. In such a way we grasp the elementary signification of our tale : the very aim of semiotics

To understand the inner workings of a 4-stroke engine and all of its components, a complete computer aided design (CAD) model was created of a historic marine engine. The parts were cleaned, measured, modeled in CAD and assembled. To ensure longevity of the rebuilt engine, original parts were repaired and, where necessary, new parts were fabricated. Fixing parts and post machining new castings allowed for machining practice on complex rough castings. The rebuilt engine was tested and successfully ran approximately seventy five years after this engine was first built.

The focus of this master thesis lies on the multiple uses and appropriations regarding a space - the fishing shed - through a specific situation: the conflict involving fishermen who practice different fishing gear and barraqueiros, in Piratininga Beach, Niterói, RJ. Firstly, from the fieldwork, I describe the locality and the actors involved, as well as the disputes that occur on the beach, especially as summer approaches. Posteriorly, I try to answer, through concepts and theories, the questions raised by empirical research, regarding the notion of public space in Brazil, the representations about the beach, the interests at stake and the meanings attributed to that place. Finally, I conclude with an interpretive analysis of the conflict that is present in the political structure of the group and the mechanisms used to manage it.
