A model for optimal planning of fishing activities has been proposed. It includes the formation of a biological component (a set of fishing objects considered taking into account their distribution over fishing zones) and a technological component (a set of fishing vessels and fishing technologies). On the basis of these two components, the technological chain "field object – production vessel – production technology" is formed. For each type of fishing vessel, it is permissible to use a certain type (or several types) of fishing technologies that are directly related to fishing objects, their

Abstract:
Abstract Fishing operations are integral to workover activities, directly influencing well productivity and profitability through successful fish recovery and wellbore clearance. These operations are particularly critical in addressing complex challenges posed by deep, shallow, and aging wells, as demonstrated in recent workovers conducted across the North and South regions of Pakistan. This paper explores the technical obstacles encountered during fishing operations, emphasizing their impact on operational efficiency, well integrity and overall field sustainability. Abstract:
This study looks at fishing activity in the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone in 2012, as well as how it responded to tropical cyclones. The study identifies the main fishing grounds and examines the impact of tropical cyclone speed on vessel position using satellite images and tropical cyclones data. Data suggest that tropical cyclones have a negative impact on fishing activity, with fewer active boats during and after the storm. The most affected locations include the Sibuyan Sea, Visayan Sea, and Panay Gulf. These tropical cyclones were estimated to reduce commercial fishing production b

Abstract:
[Extract from Executive Summary] This Work Package (WP8B) of the SIFIDS project focused on vessels that are 12 m or under in length, use static gear (pots or creels), and primarily target lobsters (Homarus gammarus), crabs (Cancer pagurus and Necora puber), and prawns (Nephrops norvegicus). WP8B had two principal objectives: 1. Identify fishing activity profiles for static gear vessels in the inshore fleet prosecuting lobsters, crabs and nephrops. 2. Incorporate effort, biological data, socio-economic data, environmental data to understand fishing behaviour

Abstract:
This case study documents the experiences of Population and Development Initiative (PDI) and Civil Society Organisation partners working to improve sanitation and hygiene within fishing communities in Ukerewe District, Mwanza Region, Tanzania. Addressing entrenched attitudes and social beliefs, behaviour change campaigns were designed to overcome traditional beliefs around sanitation and fishing, with adaptations made for remote island communities. The case study explains how they worked with fishing unions and communities to increase participation and collaboration in sanitation activities, a

Osman, Yomna M. Fisheries and fishing boat building traditions in Egypt during the Islamic period. Honor Frost Foundation, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.33583/mags2021.01.

Abstract:
There is a lack of information about fisheries and fishing boat building traditions in Egypt during the Islamic era (starting18 AH /639 AD/CE), as most sources from this period only focus on commercial or military activities. Therefore, this research refers to the types of boats that were recorded by foreign travelers to Egypt during the period under study. This report highlights that the use of rafts continued in Egypt throughout the Islamic era, as illustrated by Captain Frederick Ludwig Norden the Younger during his travels on the Nile with the Danish Navy in 1737. He noted that the Egyptia

[Extract from Executive Summary] The purpose of this Work Package was to: 1. Define fisher derived data collection parameters. 2. Identify and if possible, develop a quality assured system for the collection of fisher derived anecdotal and experiential information. 3. Develop an appropriate sampling design/method that could be streamed to a relational data resource. 4. Develop risk based management strategies. 5. Investigate applicable techniques/strategies for ‘change management’ regarding accurate voluntary reporting by the industry.

[Extract from Executive Summary] The competition for space from competing sectors in the coastal waters of Scotland has never been greater and thus there is a growing a need for interactive seascape planning tools that encompass all marine activities. Similarly, the need to gather data to inform decision makers, especially in the fishing industry, has become essential to provide advice on the economic impact on fishing fleets both in terms of alternative conservation measures (e.g. effort limitations, temporal and spatial closures) as well as the overlap with other activities, thereby allowing

Herons and egrets commonly cause damage at aquaculture facilities and recreational fishing waters where fish are held at high densities. Fish-eating birds also can have an impact on intensively managed sport fisheries. Damage occurs when herons and egrets feed on fish purchased and released for recreational sport fishing activities. Values of these fish can be quite high given the intensity of management activities and the direct relationship of fishery quality to property value. Herons and egrets are freshwater or coastal birds of the family Ardeidae. Herons and egrets discussed in this secti
