Abstract:
In the SW part of the trench association of the Dinaridic ophiolite belt, close to the Podpeć R.St., in the olistostromes an occurrence of alkali basaltic material (up to 1000 m long and around 40 m thick) is exposed. It consists mainly of altered hyaloclastic material with embedded amygdaloidal to slag-similar basaltic balls or fragments of basaltic lava flows. These rocks belong, according to the geochemistry (immobile trace elements and REE), to oceanic islands alkali basalts. They differ in all features from the basaltic pillow lavas which occur as fragments of the oceanic crust in the oli

The First Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Committee on Disaster Management Meeting established a framework for ASEAN-US cooperation on the Disaster Management Program in 2003, focusing on capability building for the Incident Command System (ICS). The ICS was then adopted as part of the on-scene disaster response system in the Republic of the Philippines as enacted by the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act in 2010. This study investigates the process of adopting the ICS, its current status, and future issues through interview surveys of local and national gover

Determining the flow accumulation threshold (FAT) is a key task in the extraction of river networks from digital elevation models (DEMs). Several methods have been developed to extract river networks from Digital Elevation Models. However, few studies have considered the geomorphologic complexity in the FAT estimation and river network extraction. Recent studies estimated influencing factors’ impacts on the river length or drainage density without considering anthropogenic impacts and landscape patterns. This study contributes two FAT estimation methods. The first method explores the statistic

AbstractThe regulation of aquatic carbon cycles by temperature is a significant uncertainty in our understanding of how watersheds will respond to climate change. Aquatic ecosystems transport substantial quantities of carbon to the atmosphere and ocean, yet we have limited understanding of how temperature modifies aquatic ecosystem metabolic processes and contributions to carbon cycles at watershed to global scales. We propose that geomorphology controls the distribution and quality of organic material that forms the metabolic base of aquatic ecosystems, thereby controlling the response of aqu

There has been a significant shift in the institutions through which natural resource governance has been managed in Australia over the last two decades. This has accompanied changes in the relationships between government and the wider community as citizens are provided a greater rile in shaping and influencing the direction of natural resource management (NRM) and environmental policy, and are provided with greater opportunities to engage with policymakers. This shift towards 'bottom-up' approaches may result in policies that are more effective, efficient, and focused on the important NRM is

Pase field is located within the Pase Block in the onshore of North Sumatra Basin. Gas was discovered in 1983 by the Pase A-1 exploration well. The field has been producing from Tertiary sediment and pre-Tertiary basement fracture reservoir since 1998. The objective of this study is to examine the reservoir characteristic of pre-Tertiary basement fracture and its implication to production behaviors of the Pase field. Pase reservoir covers an area of 6.672 in acres and contains gas column in excess of 300 feet. The geology of the area is situated on the southwestern flank of the Lhok Sukon high
