Abstract:
A new tool for the solution of nonlinear differential equations is presented. The Fixed-Term Homotopy (FTH) delivers a high precision representation of the nonlinear differential equation using only a few linear algebraic terms. In addition to this tool, a procedure based on Laplace-Padé to deal with the truncate power series resulting from the FTH method is also proposed. In order to assess the benefits of this proposal, two nonlinear problems are solved and compared against other semianalytic methods. The obtained results show that FTH is a power tool capable of generating highly accurate solutions compared with other methods of literature.

Abstract:
Eutectic fixed points are close to becoming a reference for high temperatures calibration, especially as the new International Temperature Scale (ITS) approach to issue after the re-definition of the Kelvin unit. In this work the long-term stability of Co-C and Pd-C eutectic fixed points were investigated using NIS-Egypt facilities. The eutectic points were measured using Pt/Pd thermocouple. The total exposure to the Co-C and Pd-C melting temperature was about 200 h for the fixed-point cell and 150 h for the Pt/Pd thermocouple. The emfs of the thermocouple at the melting point were observed to drift by about 0.25 °C. Realization uncertainties were estimated to be ~ 0.446 ◦C for Co-C and ~0.742 for Pd-C (k = 2). Results show that Co-C and Pd-C eutectic cells can exhibit long term stability.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to explore and to analyse peculiarities of Lithuanian legal regulation of fixed-term employment agreement. Peculiarities are divided into four groups: peculiarities of concept of fixed-term employment agreement, peculiarities of conclusion, performance and expiry of fixed-term employment agreement. Specific essential conditions for conclusion of a fixed-term employment contract are: the term of an employment contract (if the parties to the contract have used both methods to define the term, one of them must be chosen as a prevailing one) and the circumstance that legal acts must allow to conclude it at all. The performance of a fixed-term employment contract according to Lithuanian labour law is not that specific compared to the performance of other employment contracts. Peculiarities of the expiry of fixed-term employment contract are: firstly, only the will to terminate fixed-term employment contract does end the employment contract at all. Otherwise, the expiry of the term of an employment contract will end only the fixed-term employment contract but not the employment contract itself. Secondly, the law does not make it clear, whether restrictions on the termination of an employment contract must be applicable to fixed-term employment agreements. Lithuanian legal doctrine does believe that they should, but Lithuanian Supreme Court says that they should not.

International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health 18, no. 9 (April 27, 2021): 4618. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/ijerph18094618.

Abstract:
The incidence of disability retirement in Finland has sharply decreased over the last ten years. At the same time, the share of fixed-term pensions has increased to cover more than half of all new disability pensions. This study examined the efficiency of fixed-term disability pensions under these changing circumstances with the aim of addressing the following research questions: are fixed-term disability pensions more often converted to permanent pensions, and how have the changes affected return to work? The study was based on register data of Finnish residents aged 25–62 whose fixed-term disability pension started in 2006 (n = 10,177) or 2015 (n = 7918). Of the fixed-term disability pensions starting in 2006, 58 percent were converted to a permanent disability pension within the next four years. In 2015, the corresponding figure was 41 percent. Return to work increased from 24 to 30 percent. In addition, ending up in some other state (most often unemployment) increased, and, more often, fixed-term disability pensions continued for more than four years. Transferring to a permanent disability pension decreased more among the younger, those with a lower education, and those suffering from mental disorders. The results were not notably affected by changes in the characteristics of fixed-term disability pension recipients (e.g., demographic and occupational characteristics and rehabilitation) or the selection of applicants into a fixed-term or a permanent pension. Return to work increased more among men, the older age groups, those with a fixed-term disability pension due to somatic diseases, and those who had received vocational rehabilitation. Adjusting for the composition of fixed-term disability pensioners increased the differences between the study years, and controlling for the selection into a fixed-term pension further widened the differences. In conclusion, a decreasing proportion of fixed-term disability pensions are converted to permanent pensions, but this is only partly reflected in increased return to work. Further efforts are needed to support work resumption after a fixed-term disability pension to avoid the situation where people drop out from disability pension but are resting on unemployment and other benefits.
