AbstractRecently I. Castro and F.Urbano introduced the Lagrangian catenoid. Topologically, it is ℝ × Sn–1 and its induced metric is conformally flat, but not cylindrical. Their result is that if a Lagrangian minimal submanifold in ℂn is foliated by round (n – 1)-spheres, it is congruent to a Lagrangian catenoid. Here we study the question of conformally flat, minimal, Lagrangian submanifolds in ℂn. The general problem is formidable, but we first show that such a submanifold resembles a Lagrangian catenoid in that its Schouten tensor has an eigenvalue of multiplicity one. Then, restricting to t

Abstract:
In this paper, we investigate differential geometry on spacelike submanifolds in Lorentz–Minkowski space from the viewpoint of contact with lightlike hyperplanes. It is called the lightlike flat geometry which has been well established for the codimension-two case. In order to develop the theory for the general codimension-case, we introduce the notion of codimension-two spacelike canal submanifolds which is a main tool in this paper. We apply the theory of Lagrangian/Legendrian singularities to codimension-two spacelike canal submanifolds and obtain the relation with the previous results on t

AbstractWe provide a complete local geometric description of submanifolds of spaces with constant sectional curvature where the first normal spaces, that is, the subspaces spanned by the second fundamental form, form a vector subbundle of the normal bundle of low rank which is nonparallel in the normal connection. We also characterize flat submanifolds with flat normal bundle in Euclidean space satisfying the helix property.

Abstract A nonlinear flag is a finite sequence of nested closed submanifolds. We study the geometry of Fréchet manifolds of nonlinear flags, in this way generalizing the nonlinear Grassmannians. As an application, we describe a class of coadjoint orbits of the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms that consist of nested symplectic submanifolds, i.e., symplectic nonlinear flags.

We extend the notion of Ribaucour transformation from classical surface theory to the theory of holonomic submanifolds of pseudo-Riemannian space forms with arbitrary dimension and codimension, that is, submanifolds with flat normal bundle admitting a global system of principal coordinates. Bianchi gave a positive answer to the question of whether among the Ribaucour transforms of a surface with constant mean or Gaussian curvature there exist other surfaces with the same property. Our main achievement is to solve the same problem for the class of holonomic submanifolds with constant sectional

Abstract:
We introduce the concept of flat ridges for submanifolds of codimension 2 from the viewpoint of their contact with hyperplanes. We characterize them geometrically, studying some of their properties. In particular, we see that the highest-order flat ridges coincide with the flattenings of the asymptotic lines and from this we obtain some lower bounds for their numbers under appropriate conditions.
