Abstract:
Here we describe the flat wasp genus Glutodon gen. nov., and its single species G. mikeaensis sp. nov. from Madagascar. The males of this genus are easily recognized among the other genera of Pristocerinae by having the metasoma with a conical flap expansion on the sternum VIII and the hypopygium with the anterolateral apodeme very thick along its length with a very gibbous tip, both conditions unique in Bethylidae. Glutodon gen. nov. is the sixth genus of flat wasps endemic of Madagascar, and the 30th of Pristocerinae.

Abstract We present a uniform analysis of transit observations from the Hubble Space Telescope and Spitzer Space Telescope of two warm gas giants orbiting K-type stars—WASP-29b and WASP-80b. The transmission spectra, which span 0.4–5.0 μm, are interpreted using a suite of chemical equilibrium PLATON atmospheric retrievals. Both planets show evidence of significant aerosol opacity along the day–night terminator. The spectrum of WASP-29b is flat throughout the visible and near-infrared, suggesting the presence of condensate clouds extending to low pressures. The lack of spectral features hinders

AbstractThe flat wasp genus Sierola Cameron, 1881 is reviewed from Norfolk and Phillip Islands for the first time. Six new species are described: S. bounites sp. nov., S. dysmica sp. nov., S. idae sp. nov., S. incomitata sp. nov., S. longisetae sp. nov., and S. phillipensis sp. nov. The fauna is surprisingly large for such small islands, but consistent with high diversity of the genus found elsewhere in the Pacific. The low collecting effort and small number of specimens for most of the species suggests that more remain to be found.

Abstract:
The corrugator is a machine that produces combined corrugated sheet stock from roll stock. A 23 factorial experiment was used to determine which factors and levels provide the optimal result - flat, rather than warped, sheet stock in a full-line box plant located in the Southeast. The factors include Edge Tension (T), Preheater Wrap Pressure (P), and Run Speed (S). The response variable is board warp, measured in 1/64ths of an inch. The two levels are indicated by (+) or (-) signs to indicate high and low levels, respectively. In a 23 factorial design, there are 8 treatment combinations and n

AbstractThis paper introduces a knitting technique for making innovative curved three-dimensional (3D) spacer fabrics by the computer flat-knitting machine. During manufacturing, a number of reinforcement yarns made of aramid fibres are inserted into 3D spacer fabrics along the weft direction to enhance the fabric tensile properties. Curved, flat-knitted 3D spacer fabrics with different angles (in the warp direction) were also developed. Tensile tests were carried out in the weft and warp directions for the two spacer fabrics (with and without reinforcement yarns), and their stress–strain curv

A process for using curvature invariants is applied to evaluate the accelerating Natário warp drive. Curvature invariants are independent of coordinate bases and plotting the invariants is free of coordinate mapping distortions. While previous works focus mainly on the mathematical description of the warp bubble, plotting curvature invariants provides a novel pathway to investigate the Natário spacetime and its characteristics. For warp drive spacetimes, there are four independent curvature invariants the Ricci scalar, r1, r2, and w2. The invariant plots demonstrate how each curvature invarian

To simulate a warp-knitted product with a specific shape, a mesh-based model for modeling and simulation is proposed. The three-dimensional geometry of the final fabric is represented as a set of polygons, each of them containing information about the 3D orientation of the yarns in the warp knitted structure. Using spatial mapping, stitch coordinates are transformed from the flat mesh model to the three-dimensional mesh model and the final rendering is accomplished. The method provides yarn level data for the complete structure and can be used for speeding up the design process of clothing wit

Stormwater quality models are usually calibrated using observed pollutographs. As current models still rely on simplified model concepts for pollutant accumulation and wash-off, calibration results for continuous pollutant concentrations are highly uncertain. In this paper, we introduce an innovative calibration approach based on total suspended solids (TSS) event load distribution. The approach is applied on stormwater quality models for a flat roof and a parking lot for which reliable distributions are available. Plain and twill weave fabric was used for the sample development stitch with the spun thread while the sewing machine setting was kept constant to produce a balanced seam. Different stitched samples are prepared in warp and weft direction for investigation by considering superimposed, flat, and bound seam classes with multi-thread chain, lock, and cover stitches.
