Der Barockdichter Paul Fleming (1609–1640) hinterließ ein umfangreiches literarisches Werk, jedoch nur wenige Autographen. In den Jahren 1622 bis 1628 war Fleming Schüler an der berühmten Leipziger Thomas-Schule, wo er unter anderem bei dem berühmten Thomas-Kantor Johann Hermann Schein lernte. Zu Beginn seines Leipziger Aufenthaltes 1622 schrieb Fleming einen Brief an seinen Vater Abraham, in dem er ihn um Noten bat, aber auch um einige Lebensmittel. Abstract This article is dedicated to the Leipzig Ovid translator and song poet Johann Georg Schoch. It focusses on Schoch’s major work Neu-erbaueter Poetischer Lust- u[nd] Blumen-Garten (1660). The article analyses the poetics and social references of this collection. The author argues that the bucolic, erotic, and sociable songs are linked by intertextual references to works by other Leipzig authors such as Paul Fleming and Gottfried Finckelthaus. The success of the Counter-Reformation in Ireland following the restoration of the Catholic hierarchy was a remarkable achievement. Between 1618 and 1630 Rome made a staggering nineteen episcopal appointments in a kingdom that was ruled by a Protestant king. The 2008 peony was an unknown cultivar from a northern Virginia landscape.
