Solid lines are essential to enable printing of conducting tracks for various electronic applications. In the flexographic printing process, the behaviour of the printing plate plays a vital role in how ink is printed onto the substrate as it deforms when passing through the printing nip. This deformation is dependent on the material properties of the plate, the geometry of the lines and the pressure within the printing nip. An investigation has been undertaken to examine the role of the printing plate on tone gain in flexographic printing. Experimental techniques have been combined with finite element models of individual dots to quantify plate deformation as it passes through the printing nip. Dot profiles for three line rulings and two plate thicknesses have been quantified, which showed that dot area on the plate is generally less than the nominal coverage. Dot depth decreased as coverage and line ruling increased, indicating that the line ruling affects the shoulder angle of the dot. Finite element techniques

The optimisation of the antenna layout was made by inkjet printing and after that compared with two other printing techniques: flexography and screen printing. Commercial silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) based inks were used to obtain conductive paths.
