Introduction. The term “floating hip” refers to a group of injuries characterized by ipsilateral fractures of the bones on both sides of the joint, which are thus devoid of skeletal communication. Objective. The objective of our work was to determine the clinical and nosological characteristics of patients with a floating hip and polytrauma and its impact on the choice of treatment for this category of patients. Material and Methods. The study analyzed the treatment of 77 patients with ipsilateral hip fractures resulting from polytrauma. The patients were treated in the Polytrauma Department o

Pulmonary embolism is the first presentation in 70–80% in patients with aneurysm of popliteal vein. We present a case of young man admitted in our hospital with respiratory distress, tachycardia and D-dimer >3000 mg/dL. The observation of pulmonary embolism required the placement of a caval temporary filter before the surgical treatment. The use of temporary filter is recommended in symptomatic patients for thromboembolic phenomena, and when ultrasound detects the presence of floating thrombus.

SummaryThe exact prevalence of mobile right heart thromboemboli (RHTh) in patients with pulmonary embolism (PE) is unknown, depending upon PE severity and the use of early echocardiography. Similarly, the mortality rate is variable, though RHTh detection appears to substantially increase the risk of death in patients with PE. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of RHTh in different risk categories in a wide series of patients with PE, and to analyse the effect of RHTh on in-hospital mortality. With the refinement of urban management, the need for actual accessibility calculations reflecting the current status of medical service levels is becoming stronger. In modern society, as people work and live at an increasingly fast pace, people increasingly focus on time saving. However, in addition to travel time and distance, personal perceptions of medical facilities and access habits also influence residents’ choic

Ebstein’s anomaly is a rare congenital heart disease. It is usually associated with other congenital defects, particularly atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale (PFO). We report here the case of Ebstein's disease revealed in a 23-year-old adult admitted for palpitations and exertional dyspnoea. He was in heart failure. The EKG showed atrial flutter . Cardiomegaly was present with a cardiothoracic index of 0.7. On echocardiography, the apical displacement of the tricuspid septal leaflet was 15 mm/m2 , the Celermajer index was Grade 3. There was a large thrombus floating in the right atrium.

The success of the ERAS protocol depends on the interpretation and collaboration of the multidisciplinary team, therefore though the protocol is carried out in a hospital that has sufficient facilities and resources, the obstacle in the implementation of ERAS can still happe

Both hunger and obesity occur with an increased frequency among poorer populations in the United States.1-6 Because obesity connotes excessive energy intake, and hunger reflects an inadequate food supply, the increased prevalence of obesity and hunger in the same population seems paradoxical. Although a variety of environmental, social, behavioral, or physiologic mechanisms could cause both problems independently, an alternative possibility is that hunger and obesity are causally related. The following case report supports this hypothesis. CASE REPORT A.B. (not her real initials) was a 7-year-
