Initially volume forcing is introduced in order to promote transition to turbulence. After obtaining su±- cient data from this forced case, the explicitly added disturbances are removed and the simulation run further. The dependence of an airfoil stall behavior upon the acoustic l environment was experimentally investigated at a Reynolds number of 200,000. The Wortmann FX-63-137-ESM airfoil section was used for the model with an aspect ratio of 4. Some acoustic disturbances could alter the transition process in the shear layer of the separation bubble on the upper surface of the airfoil. These disturbances could delay the deep leading edge stall or hasten stall recovery in some cases. Abstract:
Two main sources of high losses in small axial turbines are the tip leakage loss and the Reynolds number related loss. The extents of these losses are directly related to blade geometry. Due to limitation in manufacturing capabilities and the prohibitive cost of precision engineering often the manufactured blade is very different from the design or the ideal blade shape and as a result the component efficiency degrades. Reynolds number effect plays a very important role in the low efficiency of small axial turbines. The effect of low Reynolds number is essentially separation of the flow result

It was found that the additional momentum injected through the rough surface acted primarily to enhance the roughness effects and, with respect to the mean flow, blowing produced similar mean flow effects as increasing the roughness height. This was not found to hold for the turbulence statistics, as a departure from Townsend’s hypothesis was seen. Instead, the resulting outer-scaled streamwise Reynolds str
