AbstractThere is a longstanding tradition in the Netherlands to announce the birth of a child by sending out birth announcement cards to friends and family. These cards provide a glimpse of the ‘zeitgeist’ over the years regarding gender through the way in which the birth of a son or a daughter is announced. The current study examined the gender-typed content of birth announcement cards from 1940 until 2019. To this end, 4669 birth announcement cards were coded based on the following categories: gender of baby, use of color, different types of images, and different types of text. Logistic regr

My paintings offer glimpses into detailed, private narratives – a world outside of everyday existence with a logic all its own. They are at once sincere and absurd. ‘Damozels’ in mountainous gowns, inquiring dogs and readers of tiny books, all perform their secret rituals. I use cartoonish imagery – thought bubbles, flowers, question marks, Sleep-Zs, popping eyes – as simple signifiers in a space which is constantly dissolving/morphing/ complicating into something else.

Abstract:
A wise woman is virtuous, lively, alert, polite, faithful and loyal. These qualities have been formed in the personality of a woman over the centuries. Persian and Tajik ancestors called a good woman "the health of life". In fiction, women and girls are sometimes compared to the moon and flowers. Female nature is closely related to the world of beauty. Prophet Muhammad (s) said: "Woman is the most beautiful creature in the world".
