Abstract:
<strong>Background: </strong>Floral transition initiates reproductive development of plants and occurs in response to environmental and endogenous signals. In <i>Arabidopsis thaliana</i>, this process is accelerated by several environmental cues, including exposure to long days. The photoperiod-dependent promotion of flowering involves the transcriptional induction of <i>FLOWERING LOCUS T</i> (<i>FT</i>) in the phloem of the leaf. <i>FT</i> encodes a mobile protein that is transported from the leaves to the shoot apical meristem, where it forms part of a regulatory complex that induces floweri

Abstract:
Photoperiodic flowering is an important agronomic trait that determines adaptability and yield in soybean and is strongly influenced by FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) genes. Due to the presence of multiple FT homologs in the genome, their functions in soybean are not fully understood. Here, we show that GmFT3b exhibits functional redundancy in regulating soybean photoperiodic flowering. Bioinformatic analysis revealed that GmFT3b is a typical floral inducer FT homolog and that the protein is localized to the nucleus. Moreover, GmFT3b expression was induced by photoperiod and circadian rhythm and was m

Abstract:
The transition to flowering is one of the major and important phase changes during the plant’s life cycle. It has been shown that multiple signalling pathways are involved in this process. Many of these pathways converge on the floral integrator gene FT. FT is activated in the leaves by an inducing signal (e.g. photoperiod) and then it moves to the shoot apex. At the apex, the FT protein interacts with FD to initiate floral development through transcriptional activation of APETALA1 and SOC1. Several papers have reported that the FT protein moves from leaf to the shoot apex and acts as the flow

Owing to market demands, cultivators usually artificially induce flowering 3 to 4 months before selling. However, the difficulty of ornamental pineapple cultivation is ‘Natural flowering’ which is caused by a period of low temperature in winter inducing floral initiation and non-synchronous flowering, disrupting crop scheduling. Abstract:
Annual plants have developed a range of different mechanisms to avoid flowering (exposure of reproductive organs to the environment) under adverse environmental conditions. Seasonal environmental events such as gradual changes in day length and temperature affect the timing of transition to flowering in many annual and perennial plants. Research in Arabidopsis and additional species suggest that some environmental signals converge on transcriptional regulation of common floral integrators such as FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT). Here we studied environmental induction of flowering in the model legume M
