Abstract:
For the aim of unveiling the molecular mechanism of flowering, the MADS-box genes of SUPPRESSOR of OVEREXPRESSION of CONSTANS 1 (NnSOC1) and NnSOC1-like were isolated in Nelumbo nucifera. Seven introns splicing of NnSOC1 and NnSOC1-like strictly followed the GT-AG rule, consisting of all the characteristic motifs of SOC1 family. NnSOC1 and NnSOC1-like were widely distributed in reproductive and vegetative tissues of N. nucifera, exhibiting the highest expression in leaves and the lowest level in embryo. Additionally, both genes were expressed in the whole flowering stage, with the highest mRNA

Abstract Photoperiod strictly controls vegetative and reproductive growth stages in soybean (Glycine max). A soybean GmRAV (Related to ABI3/VP1) transcription factor containing both AP2 and B3 domains was shown to be a key component of this process. We identified six polymorphisms in the GmRAV promoter that showed significant association with flowering time and maturity of soybean in one or multiple environments. Soybean varieties with minor polymorphism exhibited a longer growth period contributing to soybean adaptation to lower latitudes. The cis-acting element GT1CONSENSUS motif of the GmRA

Nuclear Factor Y, Subunit C (NF-YC) transcription factors are conserved in most plants, and play essential roles in plant growth and development, especially in flowering regulation. Chrysanthemums are important commercial plants, and their market value is strongly impacted by flowering time. Until now, no details regarding the NF-YC family in the Chrysanthemum genus have been available. In this study, five NF-YC genes were cloned from Chrysanthemum indicum. Multiple alignments showed that CiNF-YCs had the highly conserved characteristic regions. Phylogenetic analyses identified a pair of paral

Protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) is a strongly conserved and major protein phosphatase in all eukaryotes. The canonical PP2A complex consists of a catalytic (C), scaffolding (A), and regulatory (B) subunit. Plants have three groups of evolutionary distinct B subunits: B55, B’ (B56), and B’’. Here, the Arabidopsis B’ group is reviewed and compared with other eukaryotes. Members of the B’α/B’β clade are especially important for chromatid cohesion, and dephosphorylation of transcription factors that mediate brassinosteroid (BR) signaling in the nucleus. Other B’ subunits interact with proteins at th

In plants, vegetative and reproductive development are associated with agronomically important traits that contribute to grain yield and biomass. Zinc finger homeodomain (ZF-HD) transcription factors (TFs) constitute a relatively small gene family that has been studied in several model plants, including Arabidopsis thaliana L. and Oryza sativa L. The ZF-HD family members play important roles in plant growth and development, but their contribution to the regulation of plant architecture remains largely unknown due to their functional redundancy. The PEBP gene family is involved in many biological processes in plants, including plant growth and development, flowering regulation, light response, and abiotic stress response. But there is little information about the role of the PEBP gene family in Cymbidium species. In this study, we identified 11, 9, and 7 PEBP genes in C. ensifolium, C. sinense, and C. goeringii, respectively, and mapped them to the chromosomes. We also studied the physicochemical characteristics of the proteins encoded by these PEBPs and analyzed their intra-species collinearity, gene structure, conserved motifs, and

Safflower is an important economic crop with a plethora of industrial and medicinal applications around the world. The bioactive components of safflower petals are known to have pharmacological activity that promotes blood circulation and reduces blood stasis. In different regions of the world, cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) is an important vegetable and an excellent source of protein. It lessens the malnutrition of the underprivileged in developing nations and has some positive effects on health, such as a reduction in the prevalence of cancer and cardiovascular disease. However, occasionally, certain biotic and abiotic stresses caused a sharp fall in cowpea yield. Major RNA interference (RNAi) genes like Dicer-like (DCL), Argonaute (AGO), and RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RDR) are essential for the synthesis of their associated factors like
