Full textThe oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) allowed the direct transformation of methane into ethylene (C2). Until now, the catalytic process does not reach the required criteria of selectivity and yield. The presence of gaseous oxygen at high temperature (T>700°C) favors the total oxidation. The use of a dense membrane reaction (MR), made of mixed ionic and electronic materials, limits the gaseous oxygen in the reaction compartment and thus improve the C2 selectivity. The goal of this PhD is to develop catalytic membranes exhibiting a flux high enough to reach a conversion higher than 25% and of which the catalytic coating leads to a C2 selectivity of 80%. An innovative method, based on a microkinetic approach, has been developed to determine the oxygen flux across a membrane from measurements on corresponding powders (isotopic exchange and TGA). The adsorption and diffusion constants obtained are then introduced in the flux equation simulating the semi-permeability. The methodology, validated on three materials: Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ (BSCF), La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.δ et Ba0.95La0.05FeO3-δ, will allow to accelerate the discovery of new oxygen conducting. The OCM tests have been achieved on BSCF membrane modified by a thin layer of catalyst. Two catalysts have been selected: Mn/NaWO4 highly selective and LaSr/CaO highly active. The yield in membrane reactor cannot overstep 6%. A critical analysis has been achieved in order to design an optimal membrane reactor geometry for this reaction

Full textThe first part of this thesis is dedicated to the study of new catalytic materials, so-called BioSILP for olefin metathesis. In these catalytic materials, an ionic liquid phase containing an ionically tagged metathesis catalyst (HG-II type) is immobilized on a bio-polymer support, alginate. The catalytic efficiency and the recycling ability of these supported catalytic materials (Bio-Ru-SILP) were evaluated for metathesis reactions to define the scope and limitations of this novel immobilization strategy. The second part of this work is dedicated to the development of a new synthetic route towards quaternary phosphonium salts, using as a key step for their synthesis, the olefin metathesis reaction of arylalkenylphosphonium salts. Various olefinic partners were studied. Excellent conversions could be obtained, however purification of the products is troublesome. Using Michael acceptors as olefinic partners afforded a new route to the synthesis of a wide variety of original phosphonium salts, by a unexplored catalytic reaction process: the tandem hydrophosphination/metathesis reaction

Full textThe objective of this thesis is to develop a membraneless redox-flow microbattery using ionic liquids (ILs) as electrolytes. Due to their properties, they are well suited for applications related to energy storage. However, they are very sensitive to moisture, expensive, difficult to synthesize and viscous, making their use at an industrial level difficult. A way of overcoming these drawbacks is to mix the IL with a molecular solvent. In this work, we have studied the electrochemical properties of two aprotic and hydrophobic ILs belonging to 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide family and a protic and hydrophilic IL, ethylammonium nitrate (EAN). We have also studied the influence of molecular solvent (γ-butyrolactone, GBL) addition on the physicochemical properties of the mixtures. Physicochemical properties of two eutectic mixtures: ethaline and Menthol-based DES were investigated in order to compare them with an IL commonly used in electrochemical applications. Electrochemical properties of these ILs and their mixtures with GBL had been studied in the presence of different redox couples in order to select two couples to be tested in a microfluidic cell. Electrical characterizations of different membraneless redox-flow batteries have been carried out using these electrolytic media and electroactive species
