Abstract:
The article presents the results of the second stage of the research titled “Transformation of the content strategies of modern radio and television broadcasting in the digital environment” carried out by a research team of the Department of Television and Radio Broadcasting, Faculty of Journalism, Moscow State University. The authors analyze the content of the morning broadcast of all-news radio stations of Moscow FM band (Business FM, Vesti FM, and Kommersant FM) in the period of 2018.05.14 to 2018.05.20 chosen by the continuous sampling method. The comprehensive study required working out a questionnaire of 25 questions to analyze various parameters from air time, running time, and type of program to interactive communication with audience. The study shows that all the three radio stations demonstrate a stable broadcast schedule and strip programming. Business FM and Kommersant FM broadcast linearly in a continuous information stream. Vesti FM includes long analytical talk-programs with experts and guests interacting with the audience via SMS. The content-analysis of the three radio stations’ morning broadcast enables the authors to confirm a previously advanced thesis that Business FM and Kommersant FM fall into the category of all-news radio stations, whereas Vesti FM does not. The latter, despite its wide variety of interprogram and structural elements, is transforming its format into news talk.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of an intermediate stage of a comprehensive study of information radio broadcasting. Using a content analysis, the authors study the morning broadcast of all-news radio stations Business FM, Vesti FM and Kommersant FM in the period of May 14–20, 2018. The criteria for the analysis include genre and theme preferences, time-line, expressive means, the structure of information sessions, formats and forms of the news programs, the work of radio hosts and reporters, and others. According to the results of the research, Business FM and Kommersant FM broadcast informational programs rather than analytical ones, while Vesti FM includes long live analytical talk-programs in its running order, which dilutes the informational format of the radio station. The programs of the informational genre are mainly informational message, press review, and mail review. The state radio station Vesti FM still broadcasts radio reports, while the two independent radio stations have stopped using them in favor of the so-called «package». Vesti FM focuses mostly on issues of international politics and social problems, whereas the commercial stations Business FM and Kommersant FM prefer mainly internal and international politics and economic problems. All the three-radio stations do not fully use the expressive means of radio; the key ones are the voice and underscoring.

Abstract:
An FM Broadcast Trainer was developed to expose the students to the basic equipment needed in radio broadcasting. The cost of Portable FM Broadcast Trainer is much lower than the cost of the traditional commercial equipment because of the materials used. The FM Broadcast Trainer is laboratory equipment that can be used by schools offering academic programs in Industrial Courses specifically Electronics Communication courses. At present, there is no portable FM broadcast station available in the local market. Some schools are reluctant to buy new FM station equipment since these are quite costly. To resolve this problem, the researchers deemed it necessary to design and develop a portable FM Broadcast Trainer that is simple and affordable to fulfill the basic curricular requirements for offering courses in Electronics Communication Technicians. This is a requirement for our graduates to qualify to take the Radio Telephone Operator examination given by the National Telecommunication Commission the telecommunication body in the Philippines counterpart of Federal Communication Commission in the US. Aside from this, the station will be a venue for Mass Communications students and a vehicle for channeling important announcements from the School.

Abstract:
This paper makes use of a simple and inexpensive software-defined radio (SDR) to demonstrate the potential threats posed to wireless communication. SDR is a radio communication system where components that are traditionally implemented in hardware are being replaced via software running on computing devices. The authors make use of a simple SDR to demonstrate how local disruption to wireless communication can be easily carried out. In particular, the authors show how FM radio broadcast can be hijacked and the spoofing of GPS location signals using a single SDR on a local basis as well as how Google Maps apps on an Android phone can be fooled by the spoofed GPS data. The authors also show how an ‘autonomous' car can be re-routed via emulation with a rigged up remote control toy car. The spoofing of GPS signals is a potential threat to all GPS-based applications, especially when powerful radios are used. The security threats on GPS-based navigation especially for drones and autonomous vehicles are real.

Abstract: This article aims to analyze the raft of Dakwah Syariah Radio (RDS FM) as one of the radio stations of Islamic radical movement in Solo, on mobilizing for the 'Bela Islam' actions both in Solo and Jakarta from Islamic Populism perspective. Vedi Hadiz defines Islamic populism as an asymmetrical social class movement, even with class interests that may be antagonistic and different levels of using Islam as a shared identity. To that end, the populist Islamic movement becomes a fairly recent phenomenon in which various Islamic organizations even from different platforms such as FPI, HTI, and MMI can move in a momentum. This article will examine how the RDS FM in its broadcast to mobilize participation in the anti-Ahok rally by looking at the broadcast, website, social media and brochure papers. By using qualitative method, this article try to analyze the data by deep interviewing the radio’s staffs and anchor, also the radio’s broadcast on air, on line, or by website and social media. This article argues that radicalization in a macro level such as economic and political repression, can provoke radical Muslim euphoria to the local and global history of Islamist movements by using the rhetoric of religion and the enforcement of Islamic Shari'ah to fight 'the kafir', as well as opposing the leadership of Basuki T. Purnama which is non-Muslim. Through the perspective of Islamic-populism, the politial and religious actors also use the media like radia by its broadcast and social in the process of mass moilization.Keyword: Islamic Populism; Media; Islamism; radicalism; RDS FM; Solo.

Abstract:
The adaptation of the use of communication technology towards media convergence (mediamorphosis) makes it a necessity for radio to change. Jodhipati FM, a commercial radio station in Nganjuk Regency which declared its identity as a Javanese cultural radio station, has also made the change. The uniqueness of Jodhipati FM to broadcast 100% Javanese cultural programs originated from the demands of listeners to listen to the wayang kulit (leather puppet) program. The close interaction and relationships between the listeners and radio management has made every change in Jodhipati FM driven by the interests of the listeners. This qualitative research collected data through a virtual ethnography supplemented by participant observation and in-depth interviews with nine informants. The results found there to be a mediamorphosis pattern that explains the stages of Jodhipati FM’s change and the influence of the listeners’ demands, from the early history of its establishment through to the present. At present, Jodhipati FM uses Facebook, streaming and WhatsApp as broadcast support. In interactive engagement between the listeners and radio management in the virtual world, both parties have an equal role as media producers. In the life of a networked society, the listener experiences a shift in role and characteristics. Apart from acting as the media producer, the radio listeners are involved in programming, they are free to criticize and they are also free to look for sponsors and advertisements. The characteristics of the listener have also changed. They become physically visible, their voices are heard, their personalities are revealed, they live in various social networks, age restrictions disappear, there are no territorial boundaries and there are no time limits. As a cultural radio station, Jodhipati FM has the advantage of being able to preserve and spread Javanese culture throughout the world.

With more and more new mobile devices (such as mobile phones, tablets, and wearable devices) entering people’s daily life, along with the application and development of relevant technologies based on users’ location information, location based service is becoming a basic service demand of people’s life. This paper puts forward a research on location technology based on frequency modulation band digital audio broadcasting (FM China Digital Radio, FM-CDR). A new method of adding timestamp information to the FM-CDR frame structure is proposed, which verified that the change to the system does not affect the normal transmission and reception of broadcast content under the original standards and can accurately extract the recognition signal and timing information of BS. In the complex environment, the estimation algorithm of signal parameters such as received signal strength (RSS), time of arrival (TOA), and time difference of arrival (TDOA) of terrestrial radio broadcast signals is studied. In this paper, a new method based on multisource data fusion is proposed, which can meet the need of localization in various environments and overcome the deficiency of single localization method.

Abstract:
The radio frequency spectrum constitutes a limited and strategic natural resource with high economic value, so it must be managed effectively and efficiently to obtain optimal benefits by observing national and international legal principles. Radio Community Broadcasting Institution uses limited frequency allocation in three channels, namely, in the frequency channels 202 (107.7 MHz), 203 (107.8 MHz), and 204 (107.9 MHz), with limited transmit power and area coverage. The problem in this research is the frequency overlap with other community radios in an area. The issue raised is whether it is possible to establish a new community radio in the Batang Regency area by paying attention to existing radios that have licenses in districts/cities that are in the area directly adjacent to Batang Regency by considering the limited allocation of radio frequency channels community, without the occurrence of radio frequency interference with other community radios. The purpose of this research is to solve these problems. It is necessary to have a policy in determining radio frequency users to get good quality radio broadcast reception. The method used is to analyze the frequency determination technique based on the interference analysis on other community broadcasters. By using the Radio Mobile Software for frequency repetition simulation, in this research, the results show that Batang FM Community Radio does not allow to get frequency channels for community radio operations. After all, it interferes with the Service Area of Soneta FM Radio in Pekalongan City because it does not meet the requirements for determining the frequency channel = Eu> NF, namely the Nuisance Field (NF) value of 109.7 dB is greater than the Minimum Usable Field strength (Eu) of 66 dB. In comparison, Limpung FM Radio gets radio frequency on channel 203 (frequency 107.8 MHz) because it meets the requirements for determining the frequency channel = Eu> NF, namely the Minimum Usable Field strength (Eu) 66 dB greater than the Nuisance Field (NF) of 55.7 dB.

Abstract:
This paper proposes for the development of a path-loss model to improve the accuracy in predicting the signal level in office locations for the reception of FM broadcast. Identifying the factors that affect the signal level and eventually developing a model to predict the signal inside buildings will guide engineers in designing a broadcast system. A properly designed broadcast system will ensure optimum signal penetration in these listening areas. Further, the developed model can find applications in policy-making on the regulation of FM broadcast stations, both for analog and digital radio systems. Signal level measurements from three FM broadcast stations have been made inside eight office rooms in De La Salle University-Manila. With the three stations utilizing circularly polarized transmitting antennas, the measurements aim to determine the signal levels of the horizontal and vertical components of the received signal. These measured levels are used to determine the effects on the magnitude of the received signal of some factors, such as signal frequency and polarization, receiving antenna height, walls, transmitter-receiver distance, etc. Since the developed model is based on the measured signal levels in the actual office environment, its accuracy is then better than any of the existing models earlier developed.

Abstract Broadcasting services seek to optimize their use of bandwidth in order to maximize user’s quality of experience. They aim to transmit high-quality digital speech and music signals at the lowest bitrate. They intend to offer the best quality under available conditions. Due to bandwidth limitations, audio quality is in conflict with the number of transmitted radio programs. This paper analyzes whether the quality of real-time digital DAB+ broadcasted radio programs surpasses the quality offered by analog FM radio. We also perform a subjective and objective quality assessment comparative study of the HE-AAC v2 audio codec used in DAB+. The subjective studies were carried out using the MOS test methodology, whereas the objective tests were realized using the ViSQOLAudio metric. These studies were followed by a questionnaire concerning the migration from analog to digital radio domain.

This research attempts to study the role of radio programming on agricultural development schemes in Osun State, Nigeria, with Osun State Broiler Outgrower Production Scheme (OBOPS) And Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Programme (O-REAP) as case study as well as radio’s involvement in agriculture, with a review of an indigenous agricultural program, Aroko Bodunde, broadcast on the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, Orisun FM, 89.5, Ile-Ife, a community radio station. Powerful-Effect Model and Agenda Setting Theory served as the framework for this study while adopting the descriptive survey of research. Findings revealed that radio programming role in the development of agriculture cannot be overemphasized, as the messages conveyed via the radio wave has helped to increase awareness, inform, enlighten, educate as well as encourage and mobilize listeners to embrace agriculture. Furthermore, findings showed that Orisun FM, 89.5, had a positive influence on listeners which enhanced the development of OBOPS and O-REAP agricultural schemes. It was therefore recommended that governments at all levels in Nigeria should employ community radios in quickening the pace of agricultural development and schemes as radio has proven to be adequately appropriate in giving impetus for the development of all kinds at any level.

Abstract:
Radio Suara Surabaya (SS FM) is a private broadcasting institution capable of carrying out its role as a public radio. The uniqueness of its role begins with the switch of the SS FM function which originally dominated the content with entertainment into information content. This change in the dominance of content results in a two-way broadcast format, where there is interactivity in it. This study aims to find out about the interactivity that exists between SS FM and its listeners, including the media used, the forms of interactivity, and the factors of interactivity. Computer-Mediated Communication is one of the media theories used as a knife for analysis. Through qualitative research methods, it was found that in interactivity with the listeners, SS FM has standard rules that must be adhered to together. While the elements contained in it are participation, control and activity. In addition, the interactivity media used are telephone, online media and social media. Then the form of interactivity that occurs is interactivity of content and personal interactivity. While three factors cause listeners to interact actively with SS FM, namely the need for information, the need for self-actualization, and the need for self-existence.

Abstract The protection of man and his environment from undue exposure from radio frequency electromagnetic field requires identification of the location where exposures are likely to be higher than safe levels established by international safety standards. A wideband measurement with a spectrum analyzer and a log-periodic antenna in conjunction with the three-point spatial average method was used. The results ranged from 16.21 to 2907.00 mVm−1 and complied with a maximum of 1.08% of the ICNIRP reference level. Private frequency modulation (FM) sources were identified as the major source of exposure to the public with a mean value of 337.70 ± 133.70 mVm−1 against 122.30 ± 36.47 mVm−1 for the public FM transmitters. Even though the result was lower than a workplace assessment, it was, however, higher than similar works conducted in Africa and Palestine. Abstract:
Radio is one of the communication media that used to be a primadonna in society. However as media technology grew rapidly, radio became less attractive. Radio had to fight to maintain its existence in the media community. Various efforts are made by radio to reclaim the hearts of its listeners through improving the quality of broadcasting until the renewal, improvement and development of the program. Radio Persada faces the same problem. Radio Persada is a Local Public Broadcasting Institution (LPPL) in Blitar Regency that is independent, neutral, and non-commercial. It produces broadcast programs not solely to meet the demands of capitalism, liberalism, market tastes, or government mouthpiece, but primarily to carry out its function as a mass media serving the interests of the public. Persada is the flagship program of Radio Persada that seeks to realize the function of the service. Abstract:
On 12 July 1989, the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) announced that the Greater London FM licence would go to London Jazz Radio (LJR). This franchise was allocated as part of the expansion of commercial radio in Britain. As in most other countries, the British state owns the electromagnetic spectrum. This allows the government to choose who can broadcast over the airwaves. However, unlike most industrialised countries, the British state chooses not to use all the frequencies made available for broadcasting under international treaties. Instead, there has been a ‘duopoly’ between the radio stations of the state-owned British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and commercial stations authorised by the IBA. This limitation on the number of radio stations makes the British broadcasting system seem backward compared not only with the USA, but also the rest of the European Community. However, this oligopoly is now slowly collapsing. The licencing of LJR was a first stage of a period of rapid growth in commercial radio in Britain.

Abstract:
The screening of advertisements on a commercial radio station is done every day from Sunday to Saturday. In commercial radio stations, in general, making ad schedules is still manually which results in delays in the presentation of the weekly ad schedule. Playback time consists of two types, namely prime time and regular time. Radio Ad Scheduling that will be discussed in this study is the ad screening that is carried out on the radio broadcast schedule, which is between 5 am to 24 pm in which with the rules every 15 minutes are provided 3 ad playback slots with a maximum duration of 1 minute per ad. So if the radio broadcast time per day is 19 hours, then the maximum number of ads per day that can be displayed is 76 ads. Another rule is the implementation of prime time, the hours at which the general public (listeners) have the greatest opportunity to listen to the radio, which is between 6:00 and 10:00 in the morning and 16: 00-20: 00 at night. The number of screenings of the same advertisement on one day is limited to prime time which is 5 times, while for regular time is 8 times. The radio scheduling process is carried out using genetic algorithms consisting of chromosome initialization, selection, crossover and mutation processes. The chromosomes in this study consist of 3 genes, each chromosome will be evaluated based on its fitness value which is calculated based on the number of violations of rules that occur on each chromosome in an individual. Where rule 1 is the number of plays per advertisement that cannot be more than 5 times in a day and rule 2 is that there cannot be two or more ad scheduling shows on the same day and time. After that the fitness value of each chromosome is obtained, then the selection, crossover and mutation are carried out. From this research an optimal ad schedule is produced by scheduling overall ad data, day and time of ad playback

Abstract:
Although horticulture lends itself to videotaped instruction, I effectively used audiotaped “how to” pieces recorded via a television camera to enhance the educational impact of a live, call-in radio program. This monthly program (SCETV-Radio [91.3 WLTR FM]), which had an audience of 14,000 listeners in South Carolina and parts of North Carolina and Georgia, allowed me to educate listeners about horticulture and to respond to their gardening questions. In each hour-long program I included a 3- to 4-minute in-the-field segment of a specific horticultural practice, such as plant selection, soil preparation, planting, or pruning. In the absence of visuals, I relied on descriptive dialogue and in-the-field sounds to enhance the presentation, thereby enabling listeners to visualize the activity. A broadcast quality beta-cam television camera used to videotape horticultural pieces for television broadcasts (Extension videotapes, C.U.E. Magazine, and Making It Grow!) doubled as a recorder for radio. Using the television camera for video- and audiotaping maximized personnel time and equipment, in addition to improving the quality and content of the radio program.

Abstract:
In this article I attempt to highlight the main issues and arguments which surround the question of establishing commercial FM broadcasting services in regional areas. I mope to provide a guide to the complex and delicate questions concerning the future of commercial radio, particularly AM/FM conversion in regional areas. It is necessary to consider regional and metropolitan areas separately because of the very different characteristics of the (markets involved. It seems unquestionable that there will not be any wholesale conversion to FM in the metropolitan areas because of a) technical considerations, including frequency availability, and b) successfully established programming which would not benefit from FM broadcast; for example, mainly current affairs/news formats. In regional areas wholesale conversion would not occur primarily because of FM's limited coverage area and also because of the lower penetration rate of FM receivers.

Abstract:
<span lang="FI">The news hoax and radical understand like a chain that is not separated. Both are very dangerous and have the potential to damage the unity and integrity of the nation and state. This concern encourages researchers to conduct research and assistance for mosque media managers. The sample in this study was the manager of Radio el-Jannah 100.9 FM Malang. This research uses a qualitative approach with four stages: data collection, training, assistance and evaluation. The results of this study indicate that the function of the mosque remains as a center for community empowerment so that it needs to have communication media, one of which is radio which still has a loyal audience segment. The manager of the mosque radio must master the skills of mass communication so that the message broadcast can be well received by the viewers, because from the results of this study it was found that the manager of the mosque's radio had never learned about mass communication. Message and radio broadcast material must be valid, selected, and aimed at educating the public to ward off hoax news and radical understanding.</span>
