Abstract:
The paper studies the life and creative path of the outstanding Russian ethnomusicologist E. E. Alekseev. He was born in 1937 in Yakutsk. He studied at the Moscow State Conservatory, named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. He wrote a large number of scientific papers. To a great extent, he explored the mode-scale and mode-intonation sphere of Yakut folk song and early folklore traditional music. He created models of the mode-intonation basis of archaic singing. He also studied various aspects of the traditional singing of Yakuts: genres and styles, the connections of the word and music of Yakut folk songs, the heterophonic polyphony of the Yakut ritual osuokhai, and the Yakut folk instrument khomus. Together with N. N. Nikolaeva, he published the collection of Yakut folk songs of various styles and genres (“Samples of Yakut song folklore”). He conducted the editorial work on the publication of other researchers’ works. He edited the piano works of G. A. Grigoryan. He participated in the release of the record “Ustin Nokhsorov Sings” and the creation of the documentary “Times of dreams” about shamans of Siberia and the Far East. As a composer, he created romances, choirs, and treatments of folk songs. He composed “Sergelyakhsky sketches” comprising 4 piano pieces. Together with composer G. N. Komrakov, he created the opera “Song of Manchary” on a historical plot. His research work is being developed by Russian and foreign researchers of musical folklore. A lot of statements put forward by E. E. Alekseev have further prospects for study.

Abstract:
This article is dedicated to the creation of a folklore subcorpus of the national corpus of Yakut language. The need for creating a folklore subcorpus is substantiated by fact that it illustrates the initial, historical path of development of a particular language, cultural and linguistic richness, and folk traditions. Language corpora are considered incomplete if not contain folklore texts. The development of such subcorpus has a number of theoretical and technological difficulties, which defines the relevance of this work. The object of this research is the folklore subcorpus of the national corpus of Yakut language. The subject is articulation of the problem, structure, and technique of creating this subcorpus. Attention is focused on the problematic of creation of a folklore subcorpus. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that this article is first to develop the concept of creation of the Yakut folklore corpus and determine the cognate problems, structure and technique of its formation. It is revealed that the structure of folklore subcorpus must reflect the genre differences, forms of record, authenticity, various databases that characterize a folklore text, its performer or register.  The author determines the work stages and preparation technique of the folklore subcorpus. The conclusion is made that the folklore subcorpus can serve as a method for solution of fundamental and applied tasks of Yakut philology, as well as one of the ways to preserve folklore heritage of the Sakha people.

Abstract:
A number of negative characters in Yakut mythology, as well as individual images of folklore, are considered. The point of view, according to which the basis for the emergence of certain mythological ideas among the Yakuts was the real world, the features of the landscape and climate, to the extent that they influenced a person, is proved. It is noted that the culture of the Sakha people is based on rich mythological concepts that have developed during the development of the vast expanses of the Arctic space. The authors analyze ethnographic notes of the XIX—XX centuries and modern scientific publications, which examine the mythology and folklore of the Sakha people (Yakuts). An attempt has been made to clarify the question of the influence of knowledge about the fossil remains of the mammoth fauna on the formation of mythological ideas related to the peculiarities of the climate of the region being developed. The image of a mammoth is analyzed in the broad context of the mythological views of the Yakuts. It is concluded that secondary esoteric ideas about mammoths, caused by the discovery of their remains, could form the basis of a prototypical image for a number of characters in Yakut mythology, for example, a water bull and a cold bull. It is proved that the idea of mammoths could be reflected in the external appearance of the abaasy heroes in the epic folklore of the Sakha.

Abstract:
This article examines the emergence and essence of the Yakut scare story. The modern Yakut scare story takes roots from the traditional culture, but in its genre form represents the modern urban legend. The goal of this research lies in tracing the process of synthesis from the perspective of anthropology. The author analyzes the differences between the Yakut, Soviet and Russian scary motifs, as well as determines the key traditional sources of the emergence of the Yakut scare story. The author aims to examine scare story as an important part of modern ethnic culture that retained traditional images, as a result of transition from the traditional life to an industrial society, rather analyzing separate stories through the prism of folklore studies. This defines the scientific novelty of this paper, as this topic has not previously become a separate subject of research in the scientific literature. The sources for this article employ the theoretical works about the Yakut culture, folklore overall, as well as Russian and Soviet horror stories; field materials acquired by the author, such as excerpts from interviews and sociological survey. The conclusion is made that the modern Yakut scare story has emerged in 1970s on the basis of traditional folklore, which obtains the features of the Soviet scare story and forms the new genre of modern folk art.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the identification of typological similarities and differences in epic plots and motives in the texts of the Yakut olonkho and the Buryat uliger. The relevance of the stated problem is due to the purpose of obtaining additional materials to confirm the results of earlier studies on establishing the genetic origins and typological connections of the epic creativity of the Yakut and Buryat peoples. A brief review of the study of the problem in the works of domestic folklorists, who developed the theory of the comparative study of the peoples of the world epics; Yakut epic scholars, who considered in their works the historical and typological connections of the Yakut olonkho with the epics of the Sayan-Altai, Mongol-Buryat peoples; Buryat scientists who turn in their research to the processes of historical and cultural mutual influences of the epic heritage of the Yakuts and Mongol-Buryats. Scientific methods of typological, structural-comparative and textological analysis are used. The similarity of the plots and plot motives of the olonkho “Nyurgun Bootur the Swift” by K. Orosin and the uliger “Abai Geser Mighty” by M. Imegenov, which is due to the principles of typological repetition in folklore and cultural and historical contacts of the Yakut and Buryat peoples at different stages of development of the Proto-Turkic peoples inhabiting the territory of Central Asia and South Siberia.

Abstract:
Peculiarities of author’s transformations and interpretations of folklore imagery in the formation of special forms and types of metatext structures in Yakut literature are examined from the point of view of the specifics of genre synthesis: architectonics, figurative-motivational complex, structural-compositional, poetic structure, etc. On the basis of new methodological approaches, literary texts are defined as unique models of genre contamination (meta-genre cyclic formations, montage polycyclic form, “poet’s drama,” etc.). Particular attention is paid to a system-typological study of the issue of meta-genre structures in lyrical and dramatic works. As a result of the research, the author substantiates the position that in the Yakut literature, starting from the middle of the 20th century, a synthetic form of meta-genre structures begins to develop as a qualitatively new phenomenon. It is revealed that the construction of meta-genre forms is based on the formal and meaningful parameters of the imagery of traditional folklore sources, which in the artistic text acquire a new quality depending on the author’s reflection.

Abstract:
The ideas of the universe are associated with the peculiarities of perception, understanding and inter-pretation of the phenomena occurring in it. The worldview of peoples is based, first of all, on reli-gious and philosophical views that determine the meaning of life and the man’s relationship to the universe. The characteristic features of Yakut worldview and philosophy of life which have deep historical roots are considered. Relationships, life and folklore of the community were built based on them. Folk art is described as the center of wisdom, knowledge and experience, which has become the key to understanding the characteristics of the northern ethnos, its moral views, attitude to oneself and the surrounding reality. The characteristic fea-tures of the Yakut musical folklore, the specifics of its performance, which determined the complexity of notated fixation in the generally accepted modal system, are considered. The tendencies of preserva-tion and development of the folklore traditions of the people, who consider themselves as part of the surrounding world successively connected with the distant past, are shown.

Abstract:
The relevance of this topic is conditioned by the need for a systematic study of the nature of mythological consciousness caused by the growing trend of recognising myth as a powerful spiritual tool possessing humanistic value. This article studies the features of the spatial and temporal organisation of the epic worlds of Yakut and Shor tales. Space and time serve as fundamental categories that model the world of nations. The subject of this article is mythological chronotope, i. e. world modeling in the epic traditions of the Yakuts and Shors. The author identifies and analyses elements of mythopoetic views expressed in plot motifs, which are deep layers of folklore texts related to the archaic sensory perception of ancient people. The author aims to demonstrate similarities and differences in the mythological world-modeling of the Yakut and Shor epics. The paper employs a comparative typological approach, using methods of description, hermeneutics, modeling, and structural and semantic analysis. The author concludes that in the Yakut and Shor epic traditions, there is a single principle in the world modeling of epic spaces and a common logic of mythological geography. At the same time, the comparison of texts in question demonstrates that while there exists a fairly harmonious mythological system of Yakut epos, the Shor system bears signs of reflection of certain features of the archaic myth, containing very early elements indicating an earlier stage in the tradition, and characterised by a greater transparency of meanings. As a result, new editions of Shor epos are going to be even more interesting for further comparative studies.
