Liksom Linnés lärjungar, och Ngugis studenter två hundra år senare, hade etnologer vid 1920- och 1930-talens Åbo Akademi påbörjat insamlingar om lokala seder och språkbruk -- även de med en engagerad kulturinstitutions, Svenska Litteratursällskapet, lika beskäftiga instruktionshäfte i handen. En av de mest hängivna var Erla Hovilainen-Husgafvel (f. Det här arbetet handlar om väsen i den gamla folktron. För att begränsa mig i ämnet om gammal folktro och sägner, så håller jag mig till det gamla bondesamhället på 1800-talet. Jag var nyfiken på vilka väsen som man kunde hitta i våra trakter, och vilka egenskaper de hade. Efter att ha samtalat med Ann Nilsén som är etnolog på länsmuseet i Gävle, så fick jag en klarare bild av vilka väsen man kunde hitta häromkring. <p>Denna uppsats är resultatet av en studie som genomförts i Norrala socken, med betoningen på folktro, vidskeplighet och skrock bland den äldre generationen jordbrukare på Hälsingegårdar. Även folktron bland nuvarande generationer hälsingebönder finns representerad, eftersom de yngre utgör dagens representanter på Hälsingegårdarna. Ett flertal tidsperioder undersöks därför för att sätta detta övernaturliga väsen i kontext: de fornnordiska, anglosaxiska, medelengelska, tidigt moderna skotska, viktorianska och moderna perioderna. An iron age double grave containing a man and a woman has been found in Klinta, Köpings Parish, Öland, Sweden. Archaeologist have debated this grave and have begun to interpret the woman as a völva. Denna studie undersöker hur förmedlandet av den gamla svenska folktron kan påverkas av iscensatt autenticitet genom ett transmedialt sagoprojekt. I studien används projektet KLUB från Högskolan i Skövde som ett transmedialt sagoprojekt med folktron i fokus och deltagarna är museiarbetare och museipedagoger som alla har en förkunskap om folktro och folksägner.  Deltagarna i studien fick diskutera kring skillnaderna mellan barnanpassad information om tre folktroväsen – tomen, skogsrået och trollet – och icke anpassad information om samma tre väsen. Abstract As Bulgarian popular music strives for distinctiveness within the global cultural field, folklore has taken on a central position as a source of inspiration. The incorporation of folkloristic references—presented subtly or as central motifs—can be observed across commercial genres such as pop-folk as well as within areas of music experimentation in styles like electronica, jazz, and rock. This chapter draws upon open-ended interviews with musicians and industry figures, textual analyses, and a range of ethnographic observations. It interprets the use of folklore elements in Bulgarian popular music in relation to Bulgaria’s “crossroad” position between the imagined constructs of “East” and “West” as well as the notion of Balkanism: a concept akin to orientalism, which refers to a set of inferiority stereotypes. The chapter suggests that the use of folklore elements can result in both trivialization and innovation and that drawing upon folklore tradition comes with significant cultural responsibilities.
