Abstract:
With the improvement of technology and tactics, the rhythm of football match is getting faster and faster, which leads to more intense competition behavior in a football match; the physical contact of both players is also increasing, and the frequency of fouls by football players is getting higher and higher. This leads to fouls by players. Because of the error of visual analysis, in the crowd of high-level football players, the traditional football players’ foul behavior feature extraction method has the problem of low precision of foul action feature extraction. This paper mainly studies the feature extraction of soccer players’ foul action based on machine vision. To solve these problems, this paper uses a machine vision-based football player foul action feature extraction method, using a machine vision system to obtain football player action image, based on threshold recognition algorithm to identify the football player’s foul action. Based on the recognition of the foul action image, the potential function sequence of the foul action sequence is established by the Harris 3D operator, and the characteristic data of football player foul action are filtered by the AdaBoost algorithm. The simulation results show that this method has high accuracy in identifying fouls in the range of high-level football players and effectively reduces the recognition error. The method proposed in this paper can effectively analyze the characteristics of foul action and help football clubs to develop more perfect tactics.

Abstract:
Only one association football (soccer) player in history has declared his homosexuality during his professional active playing career. Before or since that player’s death in 1998, no other professional footballer player has come out. The prohibitively traditional culture of association football is popularly regarded as being responsible for this. Fans habitually use homophobic epithets to abuse players. In recent years, England’s governing organizations have cautiously addressed this state of affairs, though ineffectually. The present study uses online methods to explore fans’ and industry professionals’ perspectives on gay players and the impact their failure to come out has had on the sport. The article, which is based on the responses of 3,500 participants, seeks to answer three questions: (1) Why do fans, who urge gay players to come out, use homophobic language to barrack players? (2) If gay players disclosed their sexual orientations publicly what effect would this have on them personally, on football culture generally and on conceptions of masculinity in sports? (3) What prevents gay football players coming out? The overwhelming majority (93%) of participants in the study oppose homophobia and explained the homophobic abuse as good-humored banter or, in their argot, “stick.” An unusual logic is employed to make this intelligible. Participants argue that an athlete’s ability to play football is the only criterion on which he is judged and his sexuality is of little consequence to their evaluations. Although few participants encourage forcible outing, the majority welcome openly gay players, whose impact would be transformative. Football clubs and agents are cited as the principal impediments to a more open and enlightened environment: participants argue that they pressure gay players to keep their sexuality hidden and so contribute to a culture of secrecy, which permits and perhaps commissions continued homophobic abuse. Participants speculate that the continued absence of openly gay players actually reproduces the apparent prejudices. One fan concludes, “The homophobia in football will remain for longer if no gay players come out.”

Abstract:
To reduce head impact exposure (HIE) in youth football, further understanding of the context in which head impacts occur and the associated biomechanics is needed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of contact characteristics on HIE during player versus player contact scenarios in youth football. Head impact data and time-synchronized video were collected from 4 youth football games over 2 seasons in which opposing teams were instrumented with the Head Impact Telemetry (HIT) System. Coded contact characteristics included the player’s role in the contact, player speed and body position, contact height, type, and direction, and head contact surface. Head accelerations were compared among the contact characteristics using mixed-effects models. Among 72 instrumented athletes, 446 contact scenarios (n = 557 impacts) with visible opposing instrumented players were identified. When at least one player had a recorded impact, players who were struck tended to have higher rotational acceleration than players in striking positions. When both players had a recorded impact, lighter players and taller players experienced higher mean head accelerations compared with heavier players and shorter players. Understanding the factors influencing HIE during contact events in football may help inform methods to reduce head injury risk.

Abstract:
AbstractThe wage of a football player is a function of numerous aspects such as the player’s skills, performance in the previous seasons, age, trajectory of improvement, personality, and more. Based on these aspects, salaries of football players are determined through negotiation between the team management and the agents. In this study we propose an objective quantitative method to determine football players’ wages based on their skills. The method is based on the application of pattern recognition algorithms to performance (e.g., scoring), behavior (e.g., aggression), and abilities (e.g., acceleration) data of football players. Experimental results using data from 6,082 players show that the Pearson correlation between the predicted and actual salary of the players is ~0.77 (p < .001). The proposed method can be used as an assistive technology when negotiating players salaries, as well as for performing quantitative analysis of links between the salary and the performance of football players. The method is based on the performance and skills of the players, but does not take into account aspects that are not related directly to the game such as the popularity of the player among fans, predicted merchandise sales, etc, which are also factors of high impact on the salary, especially in the case of the team lead players and superstars. Analysis of player salaries in eight European football leagues show that the skills that mostly affect the salary are largely consistent across leagues, but some differences exist. Analysis of underpaid and overpaid players shows that overpaid players tend to be stronger, but are inferior in their reactions, vision, acceleration, agility, and balance compared to underpaid football players.

Abstract:
The players’ agent is a middleman who, on the strength of an agent contract and with pay, becomes obliged to act as a go-between in concluding contracts between players and clubs or transfer contracts between clubs. According to data of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), at the end of March 2011 there were 5794 licensed agents of football players in 219 national federations. According to the FIFA’s regulations, players, as well as clubs, have right to engage licensed agents in connection with negotiationg or renegotiationg of a player’s employment contract or a player’s transfer. Players and clubs are forbidden using services of unlicensed agents. The FIFA’s Regulations on Players’ Agents – and analogous regulations of the Polish Union of Football – burden the agent with many obligations. Moreover, definite obligations are imposed on clubs and players. Additional regulations introduce a code of players’ agents professional conduct. The player’s agent – as well as the player, the club and the union – can be imposed with sanctions for breaking the abovementioned rules. In milieus connected with Polish football there is a quite common opinion that, in spite of severe sanctions provided by regulations, obligations and rules of professional conduct are often broken in activities of players’ agents. However it is an opinion based on rumours and suppositions, which is not confirmed by decisions of the Department of Discipline of the Polish Union of Football concerning infliction of punishment.

Objectives. Document American football, National Football League (NFL), Lean State (LS) or Heavy State (FS) Public High School (PHS), sets similar player position mean body mass indexes (BMI). Review health risks related to BMI. Methods. Public accessible 2014-2015 football rosters were used to calculate individual player’s BMI for four PHS teams about each LS and FS Capital City and 32 NFL teams. Mean BMI were compared for male player positions: quarterback (Q), backfield (B), and line (L) players. Results. Q, B, and L mean BMI were not significantly different for LS and FS PHS and NFL, but mean BMI was significantly ( P < .01) different for Q or B versus L. Conclusion. Football sets similar BMI for player positions with PHS line prone to obese BMI (considered healthy for NFL players) regardless of regional BMI trends. We propose PHS football set player BMI upper limit 30 to support public health and sports safety goals.

Abstract:
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to understand the athletic identity of youth football players and to trace its changing trend.METHODS Participants of this study included 93 players in 2005 and 94 players in 2021, who were in middle and high schools. All participants answered open-ended questionnaires. After the results of the inductive content analysis, the changing trend of the results was assessed.RESULTS The athletic identity of youth football players were collected from 811 raw data samples collected in 2005 and 741 collected in 2021 and categorized into 19 sub-categories and 5 categories. The results show a tendency to be specific to football. The athletic identity of a football player itself is weakening, being replaced by the identity of being a student. The role of the camp is also weakening, while more privacy and autonomy are allowed to the players. As a result, efforts to secure the players’ right to study were accepted by the players, and expected to decrease as camp life with limited privacy is on the decline, and as senses toward one’s physical competence are changing.CONCLUSIONS Sociocultural contexts, including changes in the system and social modifications, are reflected in the football player's athletic identity and its changes. The athletic identity of youth football players has changed from its 2005 version of unacademic camp life with limited privacy to the 2021 version, where the player leaves camp to be provided with privacy and attend classes.

Abstract:
In North Maluku, especially in Ternate, many football schools have been opened to train and find potential Indonesian National players. One of them has contributed to producing Indonesian National player candidates, namely Sekolah Sepak Bola (SSB) Tunas Gamalama. The problems that occur at this time at SSB Tunas Gamalama, managers and coaches are difficult to determine the ideal player to fill each position. Oftentimes, SSB Tunas Gamalama students choose a position according to their idol football players, and also because of the popularity of these positions. The tendency of SSB Tunas Gamalama students to be like this results in an imbalance of potential players in certain position. During this time the coach takes a long time and is often subjective in selecting players at every position available. In this research, the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method was used as a method of decision support. This article aims to build a Decision Support System (DSS) in determining the ideal football player based on the player's position (The idealPosition System) using the TOPSIS method. This research produces DSS which can be used to determine the ideal soccer player based on the player's position.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to illustrate the need for personal role models for young athletes on the example of the Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo. Currently, the requirements of young football adepts are constantly growing. Football is booming and evolving very quickly. The players exceed the limits of their own field and intellectual abilities. Along with this, the awareness of players increases. And hence the need for individual development increases as well. Coping with the difficulties that arise on the path of a young athlete becomes the norm. Sports authorities play an important role in the training process. Nowadays, young people look for authorities among the most prominent athletes. One example of such prominent athletes is the Portuguese footbal player Cristiano Ronaldo, who is characterized by an exceptional attitude to training and an exemplary pursuit of his own sports career. The example of a great footballer shows the way full of sacrifices, which is necessary to achieve high sports results in the international arena. The work will present an attempt to refer to role models in sport on the example of the excellent player and illustrating young players who pursue a specific goal that achieving specific results often involves overcoming many obstacles.

Abstract:
Context: The physical and mental demands of an elite football player are complex, which may explain why injuries are common in football. At elite level, muscle injuries of the lower-extremity are the most common among male football players, and the research hitherto is limited. Objective: To investigate whether personality traits affect the incidence of muscle injuries among male football players from the first league in Sweden. Design: Prospective cohort study. Participants: A male football team from the first league in Sweden was prospectively followed, in terms of muscle injuries of the lower-extremity during 8 seasons, between 2007 and 2015. Intervention: All muscle injuries included in this study were evaluated and diagnosed with ultrasonography. Players from the team filled out the Swedish Universities Scales of Personality questionnaire. Swedish Universities Scales of Personality questionnaire consists of 91 items and is divided into 13 categories. Main Outcome Measures: The raw values of each scale were linearly transformed to T scores, having a mean (SD) of 50 (10). All variables were summarized with standard descriptive statistics, such as frequency, mean, and SD. As data were of interval scale and no variable distribution was severely skewed, differences between noninjured players, rarely injured players, and frequently injured players were analyzed with 1-way analysis of variance with post hoc tests by Tukey honestly significant difference test. Results: No significant difference in personality traits were observed between noninjured players, rarely injured players, and frequently injured players regarding number of muscle injuries (P > .05). However, a trend (P = .07) was seen, where frequently injured players scored higher on stress susceptibility than rarely injured players. Conclusion: A player’s stress susceptibility should be taken into consideration by the player, coaches, and medical staff when assessing the risk of a muscle injury. Also, preventive measures available for these players may need to be considered.

Abstract:
Background: Exposure to head acceleration events (HAEs) has been associated with player sex, player position, and player experience in North American football, ice hockey, and lacrosse. Little is known of these factors in professional Australian football. Video analysis allows HAE verification and characterization of important determinants of injury. Purpose: To characterize verified HAEs in the nonhelmeted contact sport of professional Australian football and investigate the association of sex, player position, and player experience with HAE frequency and magnitude. Study Design: Descriptive epidemiology study. Methods: Professional Australian football players wore a nonhelmeted accelerometer for 1 match, with data collected across 14 matches. HAEs with peak linear accelerations (PLAs) ≥30 g were verified with match video. Verified HAEs were summarized by frequency and median PLA and compared between the sexes, player position, and player experience. Characterization of match-related situations of verified HAEs was conducted, and the head impact rate per skill execution was calculated. Results: 92 male and 118 female players were recruited during the 2017 season. Male players sustained more HAEs (median, 1; IQR, 0-2) than female players (median, 0; IQR, 0-1; P = .007) during a match. The maximum PLAs incurred during a match were significantly higher in male players (median, 61.8 g; IQR, 40.5-87.1) compared with female players (median, 44.5 g; IQR, 33.6-74.8; P = .032). Neither player position nor experience was associated with HAE frequency. Of all verified HAEs, 52% (n = 110) occurred when neither team had possession of the football, and 46% (n = 98) were caused by contact from another player attempting to gain possession of the football. A subset of HAEs (n = 12; 5.7%) resulted in players seeking medical aid and/or being removed from the match (median PLA, 58.8 g; IQR, 34.0-89.0), with 2 (male) players diagnosed with concussion after direct head impacts and associated PLAs of 62 g and 75 g, respectively. In the setting of catching (marking) the football, female players exhibited twice the head impact rate (16 per 100 marking contests) than male players (8 per 100 marking contests). Conclusion: Playing situations in which players have limited control of the football are a common cause of impacts. Male players sustained a greater exposure to HAEs compared with female players. Female players, however, sustained higher exposure to HAEs than male players during certain skill executions, possibly reflecting differences in skill development. These findings can therefore inform match and skill development in the emerging professional women’s competition of Australian football.

Abstract:
Abstract We test for the existence of relative age effects in professional American football. In a sample of 18,898 football players born on or after 1940, there is an excess of January and February births – consistent with a relative age effect associated with calendar year – as well as a slight increase in September births – consistent with the fact that some football players we analyze attended high school in states with fall school cutoff dates. We consider the possibility that relative age effects may affect skilled football positions more than positions relying heavily on player weight, and we find suggestive evidence of this. Lastly, and contrary to what has recently been shown in professional hockey, we find no evidence that misguided preferences for relatively older players lead to selection-based inefficiencies in football player drafting. Our results have implications for evaluating potential football players and speak broadly to the role of physiological factors beyond player control on athletic success.

Background: the main aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between sole pattern parameters of football boots with the frequency of injuries that occur in semiprofessional and amateur footballers. Methods: The study sample was composed of 77 male football players. All were at least 18 years old, played at least 10 h per week, gave signed informed consent to take part and properly completed the Visual Analogue Scale. This study analysed data from each player’s medical history, including age, injuries, years of practice, field type and surface condition information. Results: The visual analogic score in semiprofessional players was higher (2.05 ± 2.43) than in amateur players (1.00 ± 1.1). A total of 141 lesions were collected, equivalent to 1.81 injuries for each football player studied (n = 77). The result of the ROC curve indicated that the player’s years of practice could predict significantly (p < 0.05) the presence of lower limb injuries, with an area under the curve of 0.714. Conclusions: This study described the predictive capacity of sole pattern characteristics concerning lower limb injuries in amateur and semiprofessional footballers. Football boot variables associated with the number of studs were associated with foot and ankle overload injuries.

Abstract:
Teaching tactics in team games is a difficult process, because it requires not only the optimal preparation of the player in the physical and physical sphere but above all the deliberate action in the sport. Situations that arise when playing football, usually require the choice of one of several possible decisions. Not all decisions are optimal. It is on the basis of the optimal decision that you can judge the advantages of the player and then interpret his abilities. In order to rationally solve a task in the game, the player must have the best knowledge about the effective action, and they also need to use such tactical preparation methods so that the player can consciously and creatively participate in the training process. The purpose of research Determine whether modern football clubs are using tactical training based on creative support in teaching football tactics. Material and methods of testing The empirical material was collected by anonymous polls conducted among randomly selected football players in two age categories: junior (140 CLJ players and MW leagues) and senior (160 players IV and III leagues). Research in the years 2015 - 2017 was conducted in randomly selected Polish clubs, with the largest number (about 80%) being players in the Małopolskie, Świętokrzyskie, Podkarpackie, Silesian, Opole and Lubuskie voivodships. Results and conclusions The analysis of the research results shows that football players in the clubs surveyed are less likely to benefit from the knowledge transfer, which facilitates learning tactics. The reason for this situation is not only due to the limited organizational conditions for rational training but also can have its basis in the competence of trainers. This problem is significant for young players, which can limit not only the smooth operation of the game but also hinder the process of full development of the player. 1). Tactical training dominates traditional forms of instruction that limit the player's conscious participation in the game. 2). Among the trainers there is a low level of knowledge about the use of tactics to help teach the tactics of the game. 3) . In order to make more use of the teaching aids tactics, there is a need to include this learning direction in the training of trainers and football instructors. 4). Base conditions in football clubs limit the use of modern laboratory measures in teaching tactics.

Abstract:
This article analyzes modern approaches to solving the problems of technical and tactical training of young football players. The effectiveness of the educational and training process is often associated with the use of adequate steps in the organization and conduct of educational and training sessions taking into account the age characteristics of young football players. In the course of the study, much attention was paid to the issues of combining such parameters as the size of the football field for games, the age of young football players, the quantitative composition of football players during the game, the tactical location of players on the football field and their functions. Taking into account the mentioned parameters in the process of technical and tactical training of young football players creates the necessary prerequisites for the harmonious development of the player in various aspects of his individual preparation and contributes to the education of qualified football players of various playing roles. The most characteristic feature of the development of modern football, in particular youth football, is the increase in the intensity of the game, in which individual, group, team technical and tactical skill and high physical fitness of the players are manifested. In order to win, teams must have players who know how to play "quickly" and make decisions in difficult situations that are constantly changing in conditions of scarcity of space and time, as well as who rationally possess technique in combination with tactical actions and high speed of movement.

Abstract:
Football is a popular sport in Slovakia. Every year football clubs spend large sums of money on buying individual players. However, there is a small number of scientific studies dealing with statistical, economic dimensions, and performance evaluation of football players. The performance of individual players, as well as the performance of the whole team, are very important indicators that predetermine the success of the whole club. The aim of this research is to develop a new system for evaluating the efficiency of football players and then apply this system to football practice and identify technically efficient players. The present research uses the data envelopment analysis, specifically the input-oriented Charness, Cooper, Rhodes model and the Andersen-Petersen super-efficiency model. Both models are empirically applied to only one group of football players, namely goalkeepers of the first and second Slovak football leagues in the 2020/21 season. The model proposed in this article attempts to incorporate greater objectivity into making decisions and thus may be an important step in developing a systematic methodology for evaluating not only goalkeepers but also other player positions.

Abstract:
Annotation and analysis of sports videos is a challenging task that, once accomplished, could provide various benefits to coaches, players, and spectators. In particular, American Football could benefit from such a system to provide assistance in statistics and game strategy analysis. Manual analysis of recorded American football game videos is a tedious and inefficient process. In this paper, as a first step to further our research for this unique application, we focus on locating and labeling individual football players from a single overhead image of a football play immediately before the play begins. A pre-trained deep learning network is used to detect and locate the players in the image. A ResNet is used to label the individual players based on their corresponding player position or formation. Our player detection and labeling algorithms obtain greater than 90% accuracy, especially for those skill positions on offense (Quarterback, Running Back, and Wide Receiver) and defense (Cornerback and Safety). Results from our preliminary studies on player detection, localization, and labeling prove the feasibility of building a complete American football strategy analysis system using artificial intelligence.

Abstract:
There are a few schools of thought about when kids should start playing sports. This study set out to find out when the football players performing at EURO 2020 began trainings in an organized way – on average they were just over 8 years old. The second research issue addressed in this article is the financial value of the players. Football experts, with the support of scientists, do their best to determine the appropriate value of players, and it's still not easy. The proper valuation of players is an important issue because it influences the management process of football clubs. The study also set out to see if there is a relation between the age of starting to practice in organized way and the subsequent value of the athlete? A univariate regression analysis was performed, in which the dependent variable was player value, and the independent variable was the age of the athlete when he started to play football in organized way. Based on the regression coefficients, it can be concluded that players who started at younger ages now show a higher level of value. In conclusion, the results show how demanding professional sport is and at what age a person needs to make the right decisions to be able to think about being a professional footballer.

Abstract:
The holistic ecological approach puts an emphasis on the environment in which prospective elite athletes develop. Applying the holistic ecological approach, this article examines talent development among male under-19 football players at Ajax Amsterdam which has a history of successfully developing several of its juniors to top-level international players. Principal methods of data collection include interviews, participant observations of daily life in the environment, and analysis of documents. The environment was centred around the relationship between players and a clubhouse community consisting of a team of coaches, teachers, experts, and managers that helped the players to focus on: Handling dual careers (sport and school), developing mental toughness, social skills and work ethic. Furthermore, the environment was characterised by a strong, open, and cohesive organisational culture based on each player as an investment, social responsibility and individual development before winning matches. We argue that the holistic ecological approach holds the potential to inspire coaches and practitioners to be sensitive to and analyse not only the individual player’s athletic development but also the overall strategies and organisational settings, in the talent development environment.

Abstract:
Football is a situation sport where football players are characterized by a great variety and complexity of activities during the game, both in contact with the opponent and in the immediate vicinity of the opponent, while cooperating with other teammates. Sports scientists and coaches need to find out more about the set of techniques, its diversity and the amount of technique in top level football games in order to guide the optimal planning and implementation of the training process in the technical training of football players. Due to the diversity of techniques used by football players, there are different approaches to the classification of these techniques. However, it is very important to group all techniques according to their common features in order to adequately assess the structure of a football game, its development tendencies and issues. Research aim: to compare and analyse the essence of the classification of football technique and its development tendencies. Research methods: analysis of scientific articles (electronic scientific databases ScienceDirect, Google Scholar), search keywords – football, football technique, classification of football technique. Main results of the research: two main approaches dominate in the classification of football technique: the technique approach and the game approach. Initially, football technique was mainly grouped by taking into account the player’s actions with or without the ball, the level of difficulty of the technique element, the role of the players and the player’s actions on the spot or in motion. As football develops, football technique is classified by taking into account the effectiveness of its application in specific tactical situations.

Abstract:
Despite the introduction of the latest methods of training in football, the direction - tactical thinking remains in the sphere of constant attention and innovation. The choice of tactical solutions, keeping in mind the elements of a tactical task, timely focusing on actions and changes on the field today are the decisive factors for victory in football. Game activity in conditions of a sharp time limit encourages the player to use the skills of so- called panoramic orientation. Spatial orientation exercises are combined with both life-kinetics exercises and spatial thinking exercises, creating a possible space for improving the player's tactical actions on the field. Testing of spatial orientation and speed reaction to some extent determines the direction of training of young football players. In combination with the elements of working memory, the football player has the opportunity to maintain the speed of team actions. We observed significant differences in the effects of training in the interaction of life-kinetics and exercises on spatial thinking. In the combination of psychological and physical stress, we determined the improvement of both physical and certain cognitive abilities of football players. The ability to optimize the cognitive functions of the brain - that is, the ability to understand, learn, study, perceive, perceive and process external information. The positive side of life-kinetics is that, while setting certain complex tasks, it does not physically overload the players and they do not get tired. Spatial thinking is a component in optimizing the training of tactics in player training.

ObjectivesAdherence to injury prevention programmes in football remains low, which is thought to drastically reduce the effects of injury prevention programmes. Reasons why (medical) staff and players implement injury prevention programmes, have been investigated, but player’s characteristics and perceptions about these programmes might influence their adherence. Therefore, this study investigated the relationships between player’s characteristics and adherence and between player’s perceptions and adherence following an implemented injury prevention programme.MethodsData from 98 of 221 football players from the intervention group of a cluster randomised controlled trial concerning hamstring injury prevention were analysed.ResultsAdherence was better among older and more experienced football players, and players considered the programme more useful, less intense, more functional and less time-consuming. Previous hamstring injuries, educational level, the programme’s difficulty and intention to continue the exercises were not significantly associated with adherence.ConclusionThese player’s characteristics and perceptions should be considered when implementing injury prevention programmes.

Abstract:
Context: Hip adduction and abduction strength plays an important role in the treatment and prevention of groin injuries in football players. Currently there are no reliable baseline values for uninjured football player’s hip adduction: abduction muscle strength ratios. Objective: To examine whether normal hip adduction: abduction strength ratios can be established in uninjured football players. To compare this data, and establish if there is an asymmetry between the dominant and non-dominant limb. Methods: Twenty, English Premier League academy football players 18.45 (± 2.06) years, 72.6 (± 5.56) kg, 180.15 (± 7.97) cm, 3 left limb dominant, and 17 right limb dominant were included in the study. Eccentric and concentric hip adduction and abduction strength of the dominant and non-dominant leg was tested using a Cybex isokinetic dynamometer. Results: The concentric ratio on the dominant limb was 1.59 (± 0.19) and on the non-dominant limb 1.45 (± 0.31). The eccentric ratio on the dominant limb was 1.45 (± 0.32) and on the non-dominant limb 1.26 (± 0.26). Overall the ratios were higher on the dominant limb and this was statistically significant P ≤ .05. Abduction strength was similar bilaterally. Adduction strength was 18%-22% greater on the dominant limb. Conclusions: The greater ratios on the dominant limb are due to increased adductor strength as a result of the kicking action. Elite football player’s hip adduction: abduction strength ratios should be 1.45-1.6 on the dominant limb and 1.25-1.45 on the non-dominant limb. The adductors on the dominant limb should be 18%-22% stronger than the non-dominant limb. Ratios outside these parameters could indicate the player is at risk of injury. Further research is required to support muscle imbalance as a cause of injury and identify injury risk thresholds for groin injuries in football players.

Abstract:
Football is the most popular sport in Indonesia and involves thousands of players and millions of spectators. As the sport continues to grow, it demands an accelerated development of players and adjustments to their needs. However, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has created a curriculum that only focuses on the physical, tactical, and technical aspects, ignoring the psychological aspect. This study aimed to investigate the role of psychology in the development of football players in Indonesia, focusing on the weaknesses of the current curriculum. The study was concentrated on the development and psychological characteristics that soccer players under 17 years of age require to maintain their performance into adulthood. The study used a grounded theory approach and semi-structured open questions in data collection. The sample included youth player-coaches with a minimum of 5 years of experience, as well as football players under the age of 17. These players typically begin practicing football at the age of 6 and continue until they reach 17 years old in Indonesia. The results of this study can be a reference for the PSSI and football coaches in Indonesia to create a comprehensive training program that includes physical, technical, tactical, and psychological aspects, enabling them to develop successful football players in the future.

Abstract:
The maximum running speed that a football player can attain during match play has become one of the most popular variables to assess a player’s physical talent. However, the influence of a player’s maximum running speed on football performance has not yet been properly investigated. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of a player’s peak/maximum running speed on the team’s ranking position at the end of a national league. A second aim was to investigate differences in maximum running speed among playing positions. To fulfil this aim, the peak/maximum running speeds of 475 male professional football players were recorded for 38 fixtures of the Spanish first-division league (LaLiga) from the 2017–2018 season (7838 data points). Players’ peak running speeds in each match were assessed with a validated multicamera tracking system and associated software (Mediacoach®). Players’ maximum running speed was established as the fastest running speed they attained during the entire season. Most players (53.5% of the total) had a maximum running speed in the range of 32.0–33.9 km/h, with only three players (0.6%) with a maximum running speed of over 35.0 km/h. Overall, forwards were faster than defenders and both types of players were faster than midfielders (33.03 ± 1.35 > 32.72 ± 1.32 > 32.08 ± 1.63 km/h; p < 0.001). There was no association between teams’ maximum running speed and ranking position at the end of the league (r = −0.356, p = 0.135). The correlations between teams’ maximum speeds and ranking position were low for defenders (r = −0.334, p = 0.163), midfielders (r = 0.125, p = 0.610), and forwards (r = −0.065, p = 0.791). As a result, the variance in the ranking position at the end of the season explained by a team’s maximum speed was of only 7.5%. Finally, as an average for all teams, players’ peak running speeds remained stable at ~30.7 ± 0.6 km/h throughout the whole season. These results suggest that successful and less successful football teams have squads with players able to obtain similar maximum running speeds during match play throughout the season. Hence, players’ maximum running speeds have a poor association with the team’s ranking position at the end of the Spanish professional national league.

Abstract:
Football player safety, specifically concussions, has been a growing area of debate in U.S. mainstream media. Whereas many of these discussions are centered on the health effects experienced by former players, active National Football League (NFL) players often discursively minimize concussions. However, in March 2015, 24-year-old, San Francisco 49ers player Chris Borland voluntarily retired, specifically citing concerns about the health risks associated with concussions sustained while playing football. A textual analysis of 112 digital media and 187 print media articles revealed 10 frames that were used to discuss Borland’s decision. Analysis revealed that the most prominent frame used in media outlets was centered on the health risks and consequences of playing football, while other frames discussed parental choice and social mobility associated with football. The results suggest that decisions by NFL players with respect to concussions can be framed in the context of larger social and cultural issues. As this occurs, conversations around safety, masculinity, and football move beyond the microlevel of participation, capturing macrolevel elements, such as parental consent, socioeconomic status, and health prioritization that factor into football participation.

Abstract:
Background: Concussion injuries are common in professional football players; however, their effect on player performance remains unclear. Purpose: To quantify the effect of concussions on the performance of running backs and wide receivers in professional football players. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Concussion data from the National Football League were collected for a period of 4 seasons (2012-2015) for running backs and wide receivers. Age, experience, position, time to return to play, yearly total yards, and touchdowns were recorded. A power rating (total yards divided by 10 plus touchdowns multiplied by 6) was calculated for each player’s injury season as well as for the 3 seasons before and after their respective injury. A control group of running backs and wide receivers without an identified concussion injury who competed in the 2012 season was assembled for comparison. Player performance up to 3 seasons before and after the injury season was examined to assess acute and longitudinal changes in player performance. Results: A total of 38 eligible running backs and wide receivers sustained a concussion during the study period. Thirty-four (89%) players were able to return to competition in the same season, missing an average of 1.5 ± 0.9 games; the remaining 4 players returned in the subsequent season. Power ratings for concussed players were similar to those of controls throughout the study period. Concussed players did not suffer an individual performance decline upon returning within the same season. Furthermore, no significant difference in change of power rating was observed in concussed players in the acute (±1 year from injury; −1.2 ± 4.8 vs –1.1 ± 3.9, P = .199) or chronic (±3 years from injury; –3.6 ± 8.0 vs –3.0 ± 4.5, P = .219) setting compared with controls. All concussed players successfully returned to competition in either the index or next season. Conclusion: A high rate of National Football League running backs and wide receivers are able to return to play after a concussion injury. These players were found to perform at a similar level in both the acute and long-term period after concussion.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to describe and identify the weight of some key career indicators (KCI) on the competitive level of retirement (professional vs. non-professional) of Portuguese football players. Three thousand five hundred retired Portuguese football players born between 1950 and 1989, and registered on Portuguese Football Federation were considered in this study. Descriptive analysis and a multivariable binary logistic regression model were performed to assess the relationship between the mastery stage development variables and the competitive level of retirement of football players. The results highlighted that the KCI first senior registration level, number of seasons in mastery stage, number of total games as senior player, number of total games in retirement season, and the age of the last best result achieved contribute to explain and predict the competitive level of retirement of Portuguese football players. The tendencies identified and their impact on the competitive level of retirement could be important implications on awareness and definition of management and support programs of players’ careers.

Abstract:
The purpose of this Community Service activity is to provide knowledge to coaches and their players about the importance of increasing VO2Max so that they can improve physical conditions even better for these players. VO2Max is the maximum volume of Oxygen processed by the human body during intensive activities. VO2 max is a level of body ability expressed in liters per minute or milliliters/minute/kg body weight. VO2Max is usually used to measure an athlete's endurance in performing a sport. A football player with a higher VO2MAX value, the better his stamina. Vice versa, the lower the value, the worse the stamina of a player. Seeing the importance of this need, it is very necessary to carry out this socialization with coaches and football players at the Fortuna FC Football Club. because so far no one has done this socialization so this activity will produce new knowledge for coaches and football players.

Abstract:
It was found that at any of the stages of long-term football training, there is the preparation of football players for competitive activities, where technical and tactical actions have a significant weighting factor, the mastery of which, a priori, is impossible without planning technical-tactical classes in the training process of young football players. The purpose of the work is to program the technical and tactical training of young football players aged 14-15 in the annual cycle of training. The methodological basis of the research was: theoretical analysis and generalization of the experience of sports practice in matters of technique and tactics, technical and tactical training of young football players; pedagogical methods, the method of surveying football coaches; programmatic approach. The scientific novelty of the study is the creation of an approximate program of technical and tactical training of young football players aged 14-15 in the annual training cycle. With the help of the analysis of scientific and methodical literature, the questionnaire method, the importance of technical and tactical training in the process of development and formation of sportsmanship of young football players for the coaching workshop was determined. Using the advice of V.V. Nikolayenko and M.I. Vorobyov (2023) regarding the quality and effectiveness of the training process aimed at the individual development and education of a creative player, conducting educational and training sessions in the form of games against a heightened emotional background, implementing a phased (gradual) system of technical and tactical training of young football players, developed an indicative program of technical - tactical training for young football players 14-15 years old in the annual cycle of training. Taking into account the recommendations of the Technical Department of the Football Association of Ukraine not to divide the annual cycle of training into periods for young football players up to 15 years of age, a rotation of weekly classes, which had a cyclical nature during the month, was proposed. The program is valid for the "school" period from September to June inclusive.

Abstract:
Abstract This study’s purpose was to investigate how junior football players representing a professional club experienced stressors according to there given playing time. Participants (N43) represented 3 football clubs (mean 17.4 yrs). The results showed that the players playing all matches reported a lower level of stress related to performance and future stress compared to the players playing few matches. Furthermore, evaluation and performance stress was reported higher among player given few matches compared to players playing most matches. Even so, the present study found that Norwegian junior players have a low level of stress. Based on this fact, our results suggest that coaches should focus on the players playing few matches, since they reported a higher level of stress on three dimensions, potentially impairing their development as football players.

Abstract:
The main task of football video analysis is to detect and track players. In this work, we propose a deep convolutional neural network-based football video analysis algorithm. This algorithm aims to detect the football player in real time. First, five convolution blocks were used to extract a feature map of football players with different spatial resolution. Then, features from different levels are combined together with weighted parameters to improve detection accuracy and adapt the model to input images with various resolutions and qualities. Moreover, this algorithm can be extended to a framework for detecting players in any other sports. The experimental results assure the effectiveness of our algorithm.

Abstract:
The objective of this pilot study is to find the well-trained football players’ force-velocity profile based on their sprint and jump performances. The participants of the study were boys (n=28), aged 19-21. To achieve the tasks, participants will be recruited to perform vertical squat jump tests against multiple external loads (vertical) by using the My jump 2 application and linear 30m sprints (horizontal) by using the My Sprint application to evaluate lower and upper limbs’ force-velocity profiles of the players. The vertical and horizontal force-velocity profiling (i.e., theoretical maximal values of force (Fo), the maximal value of velocity (Vo), and maximal power (Pmax) as well as the main performances variable (unloaded Squat Jump height in jumping and 30m- sprint time will be measured. The slopes of those profiles will be calculated. If the player’s Force-velocity profile (0-90%), players are force deficient. Strength-orientated training should be enforced on the player. If the player’s Force-velocity profile (>120%), players are velocity deficient. Speed training should be focused on the player. This study is to identify which players are force deficit and velocity deficit. This pilot study provided a descriptive reference for the player to have more individualized training programs and thus increase the player’s sprint and jump performances

Abstract:
AbstractThe aim was to investigate a possible role of the ACTN3 R577X polymorphism in a Brazilian football player’s career progression. 2 questions were formulated: 1. Does ACTN3 polymorphism affect the probability of an individual being a professional football player? 2. Does this polymorphism affect the progression of the athlete throughout his career? The study included 353 players from first division Brazilian football clubs in the following categories: under-14 (U-14), U-15, U-17, U-20, and professional (PRO). The control group (CON) was composed of 100 healthy non-athletes. The chi-squared test was used to assess differences between the allele and genotype frequencies. Comparing football categories, the XX genotype was less frequent among professional players than in the U-20 (p<0.05) or the U-15 category (p<0.05). The RX genotype also presented more frequently in the PRO category than the U-14 category (p<0.05). Moreover, a trend towards a higher frequency of the RX genotype and a lower frequency of the XX genotype was observed in the professional category compared to U-20. These results suggest that the genotype in the ACTN3 polymorphism affects the probability of a football player progressing throughout his career and becoming professional, meaning that playing football selects against the ACTN3 XX genotype.
