Forager bees forage long distances in search of food resources, which leaves them susceptible to oxidative stress, with an accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that affect their longevity and cognitive capacity, an effect aggravated by pesticides exposure. The aim of this study is to evaluate the toxicity of different classes of pesticides: herbicide (glyphosate), insecticide (fipronil and imidacloprid) and fungicide (pyraclostrobin) on the gene expression profile of the antioxidant system of bees in the forager phase, using transcriptome analysis. The interaction of age and behavior is epitomized in the temporal polyethism of honey bees in which young adult bees perform nurse and maintenance duties within the colony, while older bees forage for nectar and pollen. Task transition is dynamic and driven by colony needs. However, an abundance of precocious foragers or overage nurses may have detrimental effects on the colony. Circadian rhythms of about a day are ubiquitous in animals and considered functionally significant. Honey bees show remarkable circadian plasticity that is related to the complex social organization of their societies. Forager bees show robust circadian rhythms that support time-compensated sun-compass navigation, dance communication and timing visits to flowers. Nest-dwelling nurse bees care for the young brood around the clock. Here, we review our current understanding of the molecular and neuroanatomical mechanisms underlying this remarkable natural plasticity in circadian rhythms.

Abstract:
the article analyzes the degree of correlation between the yield of fodder beet root crops and weather conditions in the Moscow region over a ten-year period. The influence of the sum of active and effective temperatures and precipitation in different periods of plant ontogenesis in two morpho-physiological groups is considered. The expediency of saturating selections is noted in view of the greater adaptability of plants to the weather conditions of this region.

Full text
Abstract:
The Argentine ant (Linepithema humile) is an invasive species first identified in New Zealand in 1990. It is an aggressive tramp species that can form very large ‘super colonies’ extending over vast areas and has been reported to rob honey and predate honey bees in hives. This pilot study sought to establish, from a circulated survey of beekeepers, which ant species were present in their hives and what awareness the beekeepers had of the potential impact of Argentine ants. In addition, a simple method of quantifying the effects of the Argentine ant on brood abundance was trialled in the field.

Abstract:
Leguminous forage crops are high in proteins but deficient in S- amino acids. It has been shown that both wool quality and milk production can be limited by the post-ruminal supply of sulfur-containing amino acids. Efforts to use conventional plant breeding and cell selection techniques to increase the S-amino acid content of alfalfa have met with little success. With the objective to increase the S-amino acid content of forage legumes, the goal of this project was to co- express the methionine rich zein genes from corn along with a gene for a key enzyme in methionine biosynthesis, aspartate k
