Abstract:
Organic food marketing has currently become one of the most developing markets around the world, including Sri Lanka. Thus, the main aim of this study was to recognize the determinants of the purchase intention for local organic food among urban Sri Lankans. A consumer survey was conducted covering capital cities of six urban districts in Sri Lanka; Colombo, Galle, Gampaha, Kandy, Kurunegala, and Rathnapura using a sample of 600 consumers, from December 2016 to May 2018. Out of the 600 consumers, only 114 were purchasing organic food by that time, and those 114 consumers were chosen as the sam

Abstract A sufficient intake of fruits can alleviate micronutrient deficiencies and reduces the risks of a number of associated diseases. In many parts of sub-Saharan Africa, however, the production and consumption of fruits are inadequate on average and in particular so in specific seasons. To better incorporate fruits into local food systems while addressing the challenge of seasonal availability, World Agroforestry (ICRAF) has developed a methodology based on “fruit tree portfolios” that selects socio-ecologically suitable and nutritionally important fruit tree species for farm production,

Abstract:
Abstract In 1996, the City of Chandler Industrial Process Waste Treatment Facility (IPWTF) began operating. As of January 1999, the facility had treated and recharged over 600 million gallons (2.3x10^9 L) of treated industrial waste water into local aquifers. The Chandler IPWTF accepts and treats industrial waste water from a nearby semiconductor manufacturing facility. This paper discusses the challenges this facility has faced since startup and how it has managed to overcome the effects of its diverse feed stream.

Abstract The corrosion resistance of types 347H and 310 stainless steels, 35Cr-45Ni steel, and chromized and aluminized type 347H SS were evaluated in simulated coal gasification atmospheres at 550, 600 and 650°C. Scales formed were mainly sulfides, with a small amount of oxides. Although the corrosion of 347H and 310 SS increased with increasing temperature, the corrosion of high chromium steels, 35Cr-45Ni steel and chromized 347H SS, remarkably decreased at 650°C. Weight gain decreased with increasing chromium content of steel. However, local corrosion occurred on 35Cr-45Ni steel at 600°C. T

Abstract Superheater deposits in a refuse-fired-boiler were subjected to high temperature corrosion tests for evaluating the corrosiveness to boiler tube materials. The specimens of UNS-G1015 carbon steel and UNS-S30400 stainless steel were coated with the deposit and then exposed at 773-873K(500-600ºC) in a static air atmosphere. The test results revealed that the corrosiveness of each deposit was closely related to the deposit chemistry and the test temperature. In the case of carbon steel, the aggressive attack occurred in the presence of a molten mixture comprising sulphates and chlorides.

Romania is now a UE member since January first 2007. New challenges are for our country that includes, also, their nuclear power reactors. Romania operates since 1996 a CANDU nuclear power reactor and soon will start up a second unit. In EU are operated PWR reactors, so, ours have to meet UE standards. Safety analysis guidelines require to model severe accidents for these types of reactors. Starting from previous studies a CANDU degraded core thermalhydraulic model was developed. Emotional support conversation aims at reducing the emotional distress of the help-seeker, which is a new and challenging task. It requires the system to explore the cause of help-seeker's emotional distress and understand their psychological intention to provide supportive responses. However, existing methods mainly focus on the sequential contextual information, ignoring the hierarchical relationships with the global cause and local psychological intention behind conversations, thus leads to a weak ability of emotional support. In this paper, we propose a Global-to-Local Hierarchical Graph N

In the NP-hard Max c-Cut problem, one is given an undirected edge-weighted graph G and wants to color the vertices of G with c colors such that the total weight of edges with distinctly colored endpoints is maximal. The case with c=2 is the famous Max Cut problem. To deal with the NP-hardness of this problem, we study parameterized local search algorithms. More precisely, we study LS-Max c-Cut where we are additionally given a vertex coloring f and an integer k and the task is to find a better coloring f' that differs from f in at most k entries, if such a coloring exists; otherwise, f is k-op

Clean water has a largely unknown economic value, particularly to small communities whose agricultural activities take place on river shores. In November 2015, the rupture of a mining tailings dam in the municipality of Mariana led to a record disposal of toxic residuals in southeast Brazil. A mud avalanche ran out for 600 km (373 miles) until it reached the Atlantic Ocean, leaving behind extreme ecological and economic damage in the Doce River basin. This is the largest environmental disaster in Brazil to date. We quantify the negative externalities using rich, identified, and comprehensive d
