Abstract The environment and forestry sectors are expected to contribute to achieving food sovereignty. However, the cultivation of food crops in forest areas for commercial purposes is still limited since incommodity nomenclature, the food cropsareonly as crops. The objective of this study was to find out the views of forestry employees in Central Java on the cultivation of food crops in forest areas. Data was collected through a survey and analyzed through a descriptive quantitative method. The results showed the views of forestry employees were as follows. First, food crops need to be culti

The process of domestication of tree crops has only been given limited attention. This process starts with the protection of natural forests and ends with the cultivation of domesticated tree crops. In this evolutionary process three types of human-influenced forest environments may be distinguished: (1) conserved forests, (2) modified forests, and (3) transformed forests. During the process of domestication an increasing input of human energy per unit of exploited forest takes place. Accordingly three phases in the domestication of forests may be distinguished: (1) an acculturalization phase

Abstract:
The article provides information on new findings of the dangerous but poorly studied pathogenic micromycete Dothistroma septosporum (Dorogin) M. Morelet, the causative agent of dothystromosis, or red spotting of pine needles. The data were obtained during observations of the phytosanitary condition of plantations in the forest fund of the Moscow Region in the period from 2020 to 2023. D. septosporum was identified for the first time in forest plantations of the Moscow region on a local breed, common pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). It has been established that the disease leads to a strong weakenin

As a result of this work, conversion coefficients have been obtained, with the help of which it is possible to calculate the volume of carbon dioxide absorption during reforestation or reforestation per 1 hectare of land for the period from the beginning of reforestation until the transfer of these areas to the category of land covered with forest vegetation. All methods of reforestation (artificial and natural) for all the main breeds of the Voronezh region are considered. Within the framework of artificial reforestation, coefficients were obtained for 1 ha of forest crops when planted with a

Ostrovskoe forestry of the Kostroma region is the base enterprise of the Kostroma (Central European) forestry experimental station. The article gives a general description of the scientific and practical activities of the experimental station. Forest crops are created by sowing and planting over an area of up to a thousand hectares per year. The forest seed base is developing in the direction of selecting plus trees and plantings, establishing forest seed plots and plantations, and creating test crops.

Tol The Agriculture and Land Use (AgLU) model was developed at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to assess the impact of a changed climate or a climate policy on land use, carbon emissions from land use change, production of field crops, and production of biofuels. The level of analysis to date is relatively aggregate, at the global or national scale, but the model captures important interactions such as endogenous land use change in

Abstract:
Evapotranspiration is one of the major components of Earth’s Water Balance, being the sum of evaporation and plant transpiration from the land and ocean surface. This report documents edcrop, a Python package that use climate input to simulate field-scale evapotranspiration and drainage from the root zone of an area covered with a crop, a wetland, or a forest. The conceptual model implemented in edcrop is a modification of the Evacrop model by Olesen and Heidmann (2002), which itself builds on the Watcros model by Aslyng and Hansen (1982). The edcrop conceptualization is based on consideration

Furthermore, with the introduction of several multi-national companies into the biogas sector in the Nordics and with more and more biomethane being traded across national borders, it becomes increasingly important to view biogas solutions in the Nordics as a whole and to go beyond the confines of each individual nation.
