Abstract Predicting corrosion risks and developing inspection and mitigation plans form a vital part of any Integrity Management System (IMS). Most of the emphasis from operators is given to upstream and processing facilities, however, the facilities installed downstream, in particular the storage and transport of refined hydrocarbon products, are often considered in the “fit and forget” philosophy. Refined hydrocarbon products such as Jet A1, LPG and ULG etc. are not generally corrosive to metals and alloys which are used for their storage and transport; however, they do contain dissolved wat

Abstract This paper will describe the fundamentals of MasterFormat™ 2004 and how its use can simplify the specification writing process. MasterFormat™ 2004 is jointly produced by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), and Construction Specifications Canada (CSC). Contractors, Owners and Specifiers can all benefit from the use of these guiding principals of specification development, especially when surface preparation, hazardous remediation, and coatings and linings are part of a larger overall scope of work. The coatings (sub) contractor can benefit by knowing how to find all pertin

In Bulgaria, the number of water sources and facilities for drinking and domestic water supply from surface and underground water is about 7,480. They are surrounded by sanitary protection zones (SPZ). Each SPZ has 3 belts, which are organised according to an accepted methodology. With the help of a designed geographic information system, it was found that in Bulgaria forest territories that belong to SPZ around water sources and water supply facilities for drinking and domestic needs have a total area of 576,117 ha and 49.837 million cubic meters of total growing stock. This case study documents experiences from a 10-year project working with a remote island community along the Furo Grande tributary, just off the coast of Belem in the Amazonian region of Brazil. The residents living along Furo Grande experience extreme poverty and social marginalisation, and mainly use latrines which empty directly into the river, or defecate in the forest, which is dangerous particularly for women and girls at night. Successful programme interventions included community engagement and collaborative processes to build trust and relationships with the people, and enable develo

Actual annual savings were compared estimated savings generated by a solar wall modeling tool (RETScreen). A comparison with the RETScreen modeling tool shows that the measured actively heated air provided by the solar wall provides 57% more heat than the RETScreen tool predicted, after accounting for boiler efficiency. The solar wall at Fort Drum yields a net savings of $851/yr, for a simple payback of 146 years and a SIR of 0.16. RE
