Forestry extension in Ethiopia has been mirrored in the agriculture extension package as one aspect commonly to address land and forest degradation. In contrast to the top-down approach, the participatory extension has given momentum to promote afforestation and rehabilitation of degraded land for transferring sufficient knowledge and addressing growers’ choices to raise tree species for various purposes. However, the research on forestry-related participatory technology development, adaption, and extension seems overlooked. The purpose of this review was to draw on the experiences of countrie

Abstract Bangladesh houses a substantial amount of forests. People extract a range of goods and services from the forests. Although the accounted contribution of the forests in the national economy is reasonable, the social and ecological importance is immense. Although the Bangladesh government has taken several initiatives to protect them, the forests are being depleted due to many reasons. It is believed that in future, the degradation will be aggravated because of increasing population and persistent poverty. Demand for environmental goods will rise but will not be met because of continued

Extension is a multi-faceted learning discipline. It is a process that works with people and the best available science and information to achieve a desired change. While science and technology provide information and tools to support sustainable development, it is the extension of this knowledge to those who must make decisions that enables innovation and sustainable forest management. There are many attempts at improving the links between the forest science and technology community, and the forest policy and management communities. It is time to make a long-term investment in forestry extens

Natural disturbances in forested landscapes are increasing in frequency. Hurricanes and flooding events can cause extreme damages to forested ecosystems and the forest products industry. The state of South Carolina experienced four major hurricanes and flooding events between 2015 and 2018. A survey was sent out to the members of the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) in South Carolina in 2017 to better understand the impact of two of these events—the historical flood of October 2015 and hurricane Matthew in October 2016—on family forest operations. Forty-eight percent of surveys were returned.

The use of biostimulants and bioinputs, including biofertilizers, biopesticides and microorganisms for agricultural use, has been developed considerably in the last three decades. Definitions for biostimulants vary greatly and there are still some arguments surrounding these compounds. However, they are defined as non-hormonal products which have a beneficial effect on plant growth. Many of these biostimulant materials are natural products that contain no added chemicals or synthetic plant growth regulators. Forests are natural resources that provide many benefits, both directly and indirectly. Forest utilization and forest preservation are very important for the sustainability of life, therefore the use and conservation of forests must be balanced. In forest conservation, the government must be proactive and act as a driving force and as the main forest protector. In addition to the government, the community must also play an active role in preserving and reforesting forests (reforestation). The government has established a forestry service whose task is to maintain the sustainability and sustain
