New retail formats emerge constantly. Driven by different factors of their business environment, retailers are always evolving their formats to keep and attract costumers, to overcome the competitors or to benefit from the technology development. The strategy outlined by the retailer is directly related to the store format. This format, in turn, is the result of the retail mix offering – the retailer basic characteristics that are established to satisfy the consumers' needs. There are many different formats in the apparel retail segment. Despite that, it was not found in the literature one single, accepted and consensual classification for these formats. Given the great potential of the low income segment and the economic importance of the apparel retail business, the objective of this research is to investigate how apparel retailers develop their formats and organize their retail marketing mix (product, price, presentation, people, promotion and placement). This investigation is focused on a taxonomic analysis of retail formats based on the stores' retail mix, using a cluster analysis. The results indicate four store groups in the low income apparel retail segment: Non Professional, Cheap, Specialty and Professional. The main characteristics of the groups are detailed in this study. It is also presented the differences and similarities among the groups. These groups are apparently in different stages of strategic development. Speculations are raised about the way these groups of retail formats evolve.

The store image adds to improve understanding the needs and desires of consumers. In this context, retailers need adapt to meet with technological, economic and social changes. Therefore, the aim is to check the dimensions’ store image impacts on purchase intention in different store formats. Moreover, this study aims to understand the effects of mediators, the brand awareness and perceived value, on the relationship between the store image and the purchase intention, in the context of food self-service, which is the most notable retail sector in Brazil. The store image’s multidimensionality is present throughout the literature review. And, in this study, it is presented in the second order, composed of dimensions that appeared more frequently. In addition, the store image helps to create the perceived value, to influence on purchase intention and improves the consumer’s brand awareness in regard to the frequented retail. Research quantitative-descriptive, survey type, cross-sectional and application for convenience. The questionnaires were collected on the streets located in the south of Brazil, applied to consumers (n = 298) of retail’s study. Data analyzes were performed with the application of multivariate statistical techniques, through structural equation modeling (SEM). This study contributed to the testing of hypotheses supported by the literature review and generated results that provided the constructs’ verification which make the store image up, in the second order. Besides confirming the constructs’ mediation of the brand awareness and perceived value, on the relation between the store image and the purchase intention. It was also found that the store image impacts differently on store formats, the neighborhood markets and the supermarket. As managerial and practical implications, the information contained in this work creates conditions to improve the positioning and/or repositioning of retailers, it upgrades competitiveness against concurrence, it generates brand consolidation and differentiation of enterprises. It is also confirmed that it benefits communication with the market in which they operate and generate increased sales.

This paper aims to explore the advance of the diffusion of the financial logic on the national clothing retail in the promotion of consumer credit in Brazil. In this sense, it looks to verify how this advance is configured in a new organizational arrangement that is signed by the formation of partnerships between the financial institutions and the retail companies, as well as to analyze the administrative strategy to manage this new model, in view of its Social and labor implications. We analyzed eight companies in the national retail clothing sector that have a strong expression in consumption in Brazil, from 2008 to 2016. The companies of this sampling are Marisa, Renner, Riachuelo, Pernambucanas, Cia. Hering, Arezzo & Co, Restoque Commerce and Garment Apparel and Grazziotin Group, which previously had the commercial object of trading merchandise and today deal with consolidated variables in the financial Market. In this work, it is analyzed how the mergers and acquisitions movements involving financial institutions and retail companies are shaping the domestic market, and also how organizational models are managed after the adoption of partnerships with financial institutions and which Impacts of the expansion of this model on labor relations. The results obtained point to a better understanding of the need to adapt to the process, which requires a gradual change in the current organizational structure and consequent prevention of damages related to labor issues, values added to shareholders or positions of CEOs, obliged to increase a series of variables that result in change in the segment. These factors exemplify the materialization of financialization strategies among the largest national apparel retailers, and also show how the banking process is affecting the profile of the commercial model of the national retail sector.

Full textSubmarine-fan deposits form the largest sediment accumulations on Earth and host significant reservoirs for hydrocarbons. While many studies of ancient fan deposits qualitatively describe lateral architectural variability (e.g., axis-to-fringe, proximal-to-distal), these relationships are rarely quantified. In order to enable comparison of key relationships that control the lateral architecture of submarine depositional environments, I digitized published bed-scale outcrop correlation panels from five different environments (channel, levee, lobe, channel-lobe-transition-zone, basin plain). Measured architectural parameters (bed thickness, bed thinning rates, lateral correlation distance, net-to-gross) provide a quantitative framework to compare facies architecture between environments. The results show that sandstone and/or mudstone bed thickness alone or net-to-gross do not reliably differentiate between environments. However, environments are distinguishable using a combination of thinning rate, bed thickness, and correlation distance. For example, channel deposits generally display thicker sandstone beds than mudstone beds whereas levees display the opposite trend. Lobe deposits display the most variability in all parameters, and thus would be the most difficult to identify in the subsurface. I sub-classified lobe deposits to provide a more detailed analysis into unconfined, semiconfined and confined settings. However, the results for semiconfined lobes indicate that the degree of lobe confinement and subenvironment is not easily interpretable at the outcrop scale. This uncertainty could be partially caused by subjectivity of qualitative interpretations of environment, which demonstrates the need for more quantitative studies of bed-scale heterogeneity. These results can be used to constrain forward stratigraphic models and reservoir models of submarine lobe deposits as well as other submarine depositional environments.
This work is paired with a case study to refine the depositional environment of submarine lobe strata of the Upper Cretaceous Point Loma Formation at Cabrillo National Monument near San Diego, California. These fine-grained turbidites have been interpreted as distal submarine lobe deposits. The strike-oriented, laterally-extensive exposure offers a rare opportunity to observe bed-scale architecture and facies changes in turbidites over 1 km lateral distance. Beds show subtle compensation, likely related to evolving seafloor topography, while lobe elements show drastic compensation. This indicates more hierarchical method of compensational stacking as the degree of bed compensation is small compared to the degree of element compensation. Thinning rates and bed thicknesses are not statistically different between lobe elements. This signifies that the lateral exposure is necessary to distinguish lobe elements and it would be extremely difficult to accurately interpret elements in the subsurface using 1D data (e.g., core). The grain size, mudstone to sandstone bed thicknesses, element/bed compensation, and lack of erosion observed in the Cabrillo National Monument exposures of the Point Loma Formation are most similar to values of semiconfined lobe deposits; hence, I reinterpret that these exposures occupy a more medial position, perhaps with some degree of confinement.

This study examined the influence of allocating plots at different points of the stand, using two arrays of sampling intensity and plot size, different methods of sampling (Simple Casual ? ACS or Systematic Sampling ? AS), plot format (rectangular or circular) and plot location in the compartment (border, border and center, and only in the center). We performed a census in the stand, where all circumferences at 1.3 meters above the ground were measured. Height estimation was through the Hypsometric model. The model fitting was conducted with two databases to detect the influence of the border effect at different tree heights: the first model fitting consisted of data from the last measurement of IFC (Continuous Forest Inventory ? IFC) conducted in the stand; the second one consisted of fifty trees located on the border of the stand. For the adjusted model, the researcher used a model identity test to determine the effect of the border on the height. To define the effect of the border on the diameter, the Weibull function was fitted in two ways: 1) for each one of the first 10 borders in the stand; and 2) for the adjustment of the lines cumulatively, beginning from the first line to the tenth line. Knowing the parameters, we estimated diameter distributions, based on the observed frequency of the first border. To verify if the estimated diameter distribution varied according to the plot, we used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test at 95% probability. For the fitting of the volumetric models, we used cubing data of trees located in the center of the stand. So, combining the location of the plot, the sampling method, the inventory type and the plot format, we simulated 28 sampling scenarios. Comparison between procedures was through precision and accuracy. The result of the model identity test indicated that the border influences tree heights. The Kolmogorov- Smirnov tests showed no diametric difference between the first 10 border lines of the stand. The Schumacher and Hall volumetric model was the one that got the best estimates. In the simulated sampling procedures, ACS was more precise and efficient or an arrangement with greater sampling intensity and smaller size plots, while AS was better with lower sampling intensity and larger plots; as the format, either circular, or rectangular achieved good results. Regarding the location of the plots in the stand, the results were more accurate and precise when the plots were allocated in the center of the stand, followed by plots allocated on the border and center and finally those allocated in the stand border.

Customer e-loyalty has come to gain more and more interest from online retailers as these begin to realize the importance of loyalty as a profitability and competitive standard in the online commerce, also known as ecommerce. For this reason there is a need to study and deeply understand which antecedents/attributes contribute more to the formation of loyalty. Attending to this growing need, this study deeply analyzes the order fulfillment attribute in regards to its impact on customer loyalty towards pure players, or in other words online retailers without any up front store presence. This way we analyze, through a conceptual model, how the dimensions of order fulfillment (timeliness, availability and condition) can vary in its impact towards the dimensions of customer e-loyalty (retention, extension and referrals). To test the conceptual model, 53 responses were used acquired from online respondents, in which they were asked to fill in a survey. The obtained results show that the order fulfillment dimensions have an exclusive positive relation of one to one in regards to the customer e-loyalty dimensions. This is contrary to what was expected, demystifying a little the controversy results, the literature has seen. This also allowed to give some initial insight to pure players on the best strategies to adopt in order to improve and capitalize the customer e-loyalty dimensions.
