Abstract:
We use the Serpent Monte Carlo code to produce total and partial albedo boundary conditions that can be used to model the Loviisa NPP VVER-440 core with the nodal neutronics tools of Fortum. The albedo generation process is described in detail. The dependence of the generated albedos on boron content and water density is investigated and a clear distinction is noted in water density dependence between regions containing mostly water and those containing mostly structural materials. The Serpent generated albedos are currently used in production calculations for modeling the Loviisa reactors at Fortum.

Full text
Abstract:
The district heating operator Fortum and the city of Espoo have set a goal to abandon the use of coal in district heating production and increase the share of renewable sources to 95% by the year 2029. Among renewable fuels and heat pumps, waste heat utilization has an important role in Fortum’s plans for the decarbonization of district heating production, and Fortum is considering the possibility of utilizing waste heat from a large data center in its district heating network. The goal of this paper is to investigate the feasibility and required amount of waste heat to achieve this goal. Two different operation strategies are introduced—an operation strategy based on marginal costs and an operation strategy prioritizing waste heat utilization. Each strategy is modeled with three different electricity price scenarios. Because the low temperature waste heat from a data center must be primed by heat pumps, the electricity price has a significant impact on the feasibility of waste heat utilization. Prioritizing waste heat utilization leads to higher production costs, but a lower waste heat capacity is needed to reach the goal of 95% renewables in production. The higher electricity price emphasizes the differences between the two operation strategies. Waste heat utilization also leads to significant reductions of CO2 emissions.

Abstract:
Abstract In the paper flow dynamic similarity criteria have been presented to reflect the macroscopic flow pattern in the combustion chamber of large-scale circulating fluidised bed boilers. The proposed scaling rules have been verified on two cold models of CFB boilers operating in Tauron Wytwarzanie S.A. - El. Lagisza division (scale factor 1/20) and Fortum Power and Heat Poland Sp. z o. o. Czestochowa division (scale factor 1/10) – working with the power of 966 MWth and 120 MWth, respectively. As follows from the results of measurements, regardless of CFB boiler’s geometry the use of a defined set of criterial numbers allows to obtain satisfactory agreement between the suspension density distributions registered in the CFB boilers and scaling models.

Abstract:
Extensive modelling and analytical work has been carried out considering the water-cooled lithium–lead breeding blanket (WCLL BB) balance of plant (BOP) configuration of the demonstration power plant (DEMO) using the Apros system code, developed by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. and Fortum. Contributing to the BOP work package of the EUROfusion Consortium, the integral plant model for dynamic analyses of the WCLL BB configuration has been updated with special attention to primary system components. Following trends of relevant neutronics modelling, a new BB model has been implemented in 2020 with the aim to obtain higher resolution output data and a more realistic thermalhydraulic feedback from the primary system. Once-through steam generator user components have been built based on CAD models conceived by BOP partners. Transient analyses have been performed providing a better picture regarding the behaviour of main components, e.g., the BB and the OTSGs, whilst highlighting possible ways to optimise the control scheme of the plant.

Full text
Abstract:
Two colorimetric and titrimetric procedures are developed for determination of some cephalosporins, namely, cefotaxime sodium (CFT), cehroxime sodium (CFU) and ceftazidime pentahydrate (CFZ). The first method, a colorimetric method, was based on the reaction of these cited drugs with 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazan (NBD-Cl), in the presence of 5x10-3 M borax, with the formation of stable colored chromogens with maximum absorbance in the range of 409 - 414 nm. All variables affecting the development of the colour have been investigated and the conditions were optimized. The method obeys Beer's law over concentration ranges of 19.09 - 95.49, 17.85 - 124.98 and 63.66 - 254.66 µg ml-1 of CFT, CFU and CFZ, respectively. Obedience to Beer's law permitted the successful application of the proposed method for the assay of cefuran, cefumax and fortum vials. The results obtained reveal good percentage recoveries, which are in good agreement with those obtained by the official methods. In the second method, the titrimetric method, the conditions for the oxidimetric titration of cephalosporins have been studied. The titration takes place because of catalytic quantities of KBr, which give rise to an intermediate that can be hydrolyzed to the sulfoxide. The operating conditions are described and a hypothesis is put forward concerning the mechanism of the reaction.

Abstract:
The acronym DAT stands for double acting tanker, a concept where the ship is designed to run astern in heavy ice conditions while remaining hydrodynamically efficient for ahead propulsion in open water conditions. Two large aframax DATs - 106.000 dwt (deadweight tons) each - have been delivered by Sumitomo Heavy Industries to Fortum Oil and Gas OY. They are the first crude carriers built according to the DAT principle and also the first using pod propulsion from the beginning (Fig. 1). They will also be the world's largest crude carriers with ice class 1A super and are primarily intended for year-round transportation of North Sea crude to Fortum's refineries in the Gulf of Finland. The ships were appointed ‘ship of the year’ in Japan in 2003. SSPA was contracted by Sumitomo Heavy Industries to perform model tests. A comprehensive open water model test programme was used to investigate aspects of resistance and propulsion, manoeuvring, and cavitation performance. As the ship is designed to operate both in ahead and astern conditions for prolonged periods of time, most tests were performed both ahead and astern. Also, a simulation study of dynamic positioning at buoy or floating production, storage offshore (FPSO) loading was made by SSPA. Comprehensive tests of the ship's performance in ice were performed in the ice tank at MARC (Masa-Yards Artic Research Centre). The eight-month model testing and development campaign resulted in a ship with excellent propulsion and manoeuvring performance, especially with regard to the high ice class. Sea trials carried out with ship in August 2002 confirmed the results of the model test. Interesting experiences of the model test campaign and comparison between model test and sea trial results are presented, as well as some examples of single-point mooring simulations.

Abstract:
In Yogyakarta, there are several photography cliques that periodically hold photo exhibitions, usually annualy. This event adds to the dynamic of Indonesia photography world and also to improve the development of photography in Indonesia. Photos need to be supported with proper presentation to ensure the intended message can be conveyed through. Aside of that, a good presentation will raise the photo value and appreciation from the visitors. Unfortunately, photo presentations that has been done by cliques within FORKOM Jogja still needs improvement. Hence it is needed to create a workshop about photo presentation and exhibit preparation. The methods used is theoretical lesson done in classroom by the lecturers of Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI Yogyakarta) from Photography major. One of the practice being shown is the photo presentation from the photographer Mes56 Yogyakarta. Based on the conducted workshop that has been done to a small number of photography communities in Yogyakarta, it can be deduced that material about exhibit presentation is highly needed by the photography communities. The way of how a photo is presented heavily influences the photo’s value and is exploitable to connect more with the photo.
