Abstract:
In the Conclusion of the Handbook, we acknowledge the diversity of perspectives represented in its various chapters, but at the same time outline converging patterns and trace some paths for moving forward. We observe how the “definitional war” that affected the field in its early years seems to have finally settled around a core set of often-complimentary perspectives (e.g. social actor, social constructionist, institutional, discursive, etc.) that investigate different research questions. Scholars also seem to be shifting their attention to the way that organizational identity—as a “work in progress” rather than a stable state—is constantly constructed and reconstructed and is thus permanently “becoming.” This focus on time and process not only opens interesting avenues for the study of change and stability in organizational identity, but also carries important ontological and methodological implications about the study of identities. We also observe how the adoption of new perspectives (e.g. institutional, political) may improve our understanding of the nature and causes of plurality and complexity in organizational identities, and may highlight important multilevel linkages between individuals, organizations, and external forces. Finally, we note a variety of contemporary trends affecting organizations and speculate on how they may impact the very nature of identity in and of organizations.

Abstract:
One important and growing strategy to help local communities reinvest in local food is agritourism. Although advances have been made over the past half-century to promote and ensure food security globally, volatility in food prices and an increasing reliance on processed foods have created a global deterioration of nutrition needs. Although the majority of countries consider agritourism a venture to assist smaller farms looking to diversify, the approach is also a promising mechanism to encourage participation in sustainable agriculture and health promotion. In this chapter, we define agritourism, explore examples in the Caribbean and Europe, and examine how forward and backward linkages support its growth.

Abstract:
The same event that appeared unpredictable in foresight can be judged as predictable in hindsight. Hindsight bias clouds judgments in all areas of life, including legal decisions, medical diagnoses, consumer satisfaction, sporting events, and election outcomes. We discuss three theoretical constructs related to hindsight bias: memory, reconstruction bias, and motivation. Attempts to recall foresight knowledge fail because newly acquired knowledge affects memory either directly or indirectly by biasing attempts to reconstruct foresight knowledge. On a metacognitive level, overconfidence and surprise contribute to hindsight bias. Overconfidence in knowledge increases hindsight bias whereas a well-calibrated confidence reduces hindsight bias. Motivational factors also contribute to hindsight bias by making positive and negative outcomes appear more or less likely, depending on a variety of factors. We review hindsight bias theories and discuss three exciting directions for future research.
