Full textPurpose and aims: The aim of with this study is to investigate how students in upper secondary school experience and cope with the combination of studies and participation in elite sports. This by answering the two following questions: How do the students experience the combination of studies and elite sports?; What inner respective outer resources do the students have or lack in relation to be able to manage the combination of studies and elite sports? Method: This is a qualitative study with a phenomenological interpretation of the collected data. Semi structured interviews are used as method for collecting the data. A strategic sampling has been made that included in total sex students, three boys and three girls. The participants where students from two upper secondary schools in the outer municipalities of Stockholm. The students have been recruited through personal contacts with their teachers. The theoretical framework in the study are based on the KASAM theory of Antonovsky and the transactional model of Lazarus. Results: Students experience that the balance between studies and participation in elite sports has gradually improved from the first to the third grade of upper secondary school. Students experience that participation in elite sports affect the curricular studies negative, even though they are able to manage the situation. This by postponing school work or having dropped of from courses following the lack of time to study. The aspect of time, together with uncomprehending teachers, are factors of stress and also a lacking resource that are prominent among the students. Friends and family though are equally prominent as positive resources. Conclusions: The majority of the students do experience that they are able to manage the combination of studies and elite sports. At the same time, the students experience factors of stress and inquire for more resources to be able to better cope with the combination of studies and elite sports. The students though have a positive attitude, high ambitions, and in the end feels that they have enough resources to be able to cope with the situation.

Full textThe study aims in examining closeness and accessibility of football pitches in the municipality of Nacka, in Stockholm Sweden, with the basis of network analysis and space syntax. The relations between accessibility and health are a key standpoints and related theories and previous studies in the matter has been discussed. The study focusses on existing football pitches in the municipality and how close and accessible these are for youths in the age of 7 to 20 years. The pedestrian and bicycling networks as well as public transportation road networks are there for examined. As a result, the study has provided suggestions for future locations of new football pitches. These locations have been analyzed from closeness and accessibility aspects as well as the capacity of the football pitches. The results have similarities to previous researches by the municipality, but does also show that some municipal areas are of greater need than previous investigations have shown. Finally, two aspects must be noted. Firstly, in this study, "ball pitches" (football pitches which are not bookable for organized sport) have been excluded from the analyzes. These are highly relevant for “spontaneous sport activities” as well as daily exercise for young people. This notion becomes relevant though the municipality are discussing to make these non-bookable pitches possible to schedule for organized football. Secondly, this type of analysis can be done for a variety of different functions in the city and not necessarily just football pitches.

Full textAs the football industry develops into a highly competitive commercialized industry, football clubs must step up and improve their business strategy. This study focuses on the famous Italian club AC Milan, a club with many international titles but with declining revenues. The purpose of this thesis is to study how AC Milan can generate higher revenues by comparing its marketing and business strategy with the most profitable clubs in the world, the benchmarking partners Real Madrid and Manchester United. By using a benchmarking model, following the five steps of this process, conducting observation studies, an interview and examining secondhand information, gaps between the clubs were evaluated and analyzed. These evaluations became together with chosen theoretical references, the basis for the improvement suggestions and conclusions shown by the authors. The outcome of the benchmarking study shows that AC Milan has good possibilities to improve its match day revenues and its commercial revenues, through renovating and using its arena more efficiently and expanding its brand to unexplored markets, such as Asia. AC Milan will as a result base their business on more balanced and proportionate revenue channels.
