Polo-like Kinase 1 (PLK1) is a mitotic kinase with regulatory functions at the G2/M cell cycle phase transition. In mammalian cells, PLK1 phosphorylates and activates FOXM1, a forkhead transcription factor at the G2/M cell cycle phase transition. FOXM1 then promotes transcription of multiple gene products, including PLK1 and CCNB1, which then act individually or in complexes to further phosphorylate FOXM1 generating a positive feedback l

Abstract:
The prognosis of oesophageal cancer remains poor, with <10% 5-year survival. Delineating the molecular pathogenesis of oesophageal cancer could inform future research into targeted therapies and may uncover novel biomarkers to aid management decisions. As a transcription factor with important roles in the control of cell cycle transcription, FOXM1 regulates cellular proliferation and chromosome stability. FOXM1 is frequently overexpressed in human cancers and this has recently been described in oesophageal adenocarcinoma (OAC) tissues. We have sought to identify novel gene targets of FOXM1 to

Abstract:
Ovarian carcinoma is the most lethal gynecological malignancy. The high relapse and mortality rates are attributable to late diagnosis and development of drug resistance. Identifying novel prognostic and therapeutic targets for ovarian carcinoma is crucial for improving patients' long-term survival rate. Forkhead box protein M1 (FOXM1), which is a widely studied member of the FOX superfamily of proteins, participates in cell proliferation and apoptosis affecting the developmental function of many organs. Recently, there has been emerging evidence supporting the biological significance of FOXM1

Abstract:
G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are a large family of trans-membrane receptors that transmit signals from extracellular stimuli to target intracellular signal transduction pathways. The gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor (GnRH-R) is a GPCR which binds the decapeptide GnRH. In the pituitary gonadotrope, GnRH stimulates gonadotropin (LH and FSH) biosynthesis and secretion to regulate reproduction. GnRH and the GnRH-Rs are also present in many extra-pituitary tissues, although their role at these sites remains largely undetermined. GnRH-Rs are known to recruit a diverse array of signalli

Abstract:
I studied the habitat selection, survival, and anti-predator behaviors of the fox squirrel (Siurus niger) across the urban-rural gradient in College Station, Texas. From two years of tracking the radio locations of 82 fox squirrels, my data suggested that fox squirrels in urban areas selected for use large mast bearing trees that mimicked the habitat features they prefer in non-urban areas and avoided conifer and ornamental tree species. Urban fox squirrels selected to use buildings and non-native grass during certain seasons and showed a tolerance for pavement, including it proportionally in
