Our analysis covers 133 countries over the period 1995 to 2007, including 32 countries highly dependent on tourism during that period. The main purpose of the paper was to determine a place of tourism in the bio- -economy of the Polish regions as well as spatial analysis of smart specializations of the regions regarding tourism and recreation activities.
