This article presents an analysis of the main reference models of Product Development Process (PDP) and specificities of the telecommunications industry. The research instruments used to collect the data was semi-structured interviews, direct observation and document analysis in two companies, in order to map and analyze their PDP. It was noticed that there was similarity of the steps of the Case Studies PDP with the reference models, especially the model of [4]. The main differences were the feasibility analysis, the assessment by the customer of the preliminary product concepts, and the emphasis on commercial and operational development. It was also noted that the PDP of the companies had no strong influence of practices and business processes. Their PDP were more involved in the strategy area, infrastructure and with the product of eTOM framework.

Abstract:
Three new metal-organic framework materials [Mg3(LH)2(EtOH)2(H2O)]·(EtOH)4.5(H2O)0.25 (IMP-13Mg), [Co3(LH)2(EtOH)2(H2O)]·(EtOH)3 (IMP-13Co), and [Ca3(LH)2(EtOH)4]·(EtOH)6 (IMP-14) have been prepared from the treatment of silanetetrabenzoic acid (L-H4) with MgII, CoII, and CaII salts respectively. In all cases the silanetetrabenzoic acid has been triply deprotonated and the resultant carboxylate groups assemble with trinuclear metal-based nodes to give (3,6)-connected kgd-type two-dimensional layers. These layers are then extended into the third dimension by coordination of the metal nodes by carboxylic acid groups in adjacent layers. In the case of IMP-13Mg/Co, only alternate L-H connectors and metal nodes are involved in these interlayer interactions, leaving some acid groups free within the structure. However, in IMP-14 all L-H connectors and metal nodes participate in interlayer bonding.

Abstract:
This mini review summarizes recent advances in experimental thermodynamics of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Taking advantage of the development in mechanochemistry, near-room temperature solution calorimetry, and low-temperature heat capacity measurements, the energetic landscape, entropy trends, and Gibbs free energy evolutions of MOFs with true polymorphism [Zn(MeIm)2, Zn(EtIm)2, and Zn(CF3Im)2] as framework topology varies were thoroughly explored by integrated calorimetric and computational methodologies. In addition, the formation enthalpies of MOFs with ultrahigh porosity (MOF-177 and UMCM-1) and the simplest structure (metal formates) have been determined. The studies summarized below highlight the complex interplays among interrelated compositional, chemical, and topological (structural) factors in the determination of the thermodynamic parameters of MOFs.

Abstract:
The obligatory path towards a lean manufacturing organization requires assessment and monitoring. However, a lean assessment framework is not yet available for the engineer to order (ETO) scenario. This work explored ten lean ETO maturity principles—identified from the literature—that take insight from three formally defined sets (Toyota Way, lean construction, and lean product development principles). A practical assessment model was proposed based on the evaluation of ten lean ETO objective criteria (four with mathematical formulation) and was validated on a real industrial case. A problem-solving tool, including a new lean tool, called the Problem Focus Matrix (PFM), was also presented; this tool was aimed toward development of an integrated framework that would include the organization mission, management, and continuous improvement.

Abstract:

Abstract:

The rapid diffusion of Internet technologies has led to many drastic changes in the global business world. In addition to information flow integration among departments inside an enterprise, communications among upstream suppliers and downstream manufacturers also requires seamless integration among various business entities. Recently, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) has been considered to be one of the best solutions to this problem. ERP also has been undergone a vigorous mass campaign in the media since the 1990s. However, many enterprises that blindly followed this trend have never understood the importance of ERP to enterprises’ long-term development and operating essentiality. Research has shown that, among business adopters of ERP, 20\\\% to 50\\\% of the implementations cases failed; 75\\\% resulted in disappointment; 90\\\% overspent their budget. In spite of these limitations, the ERP is still an essential infrastructure component for enterprises that perform the electronic businesses. Since ERP is still popular and has been reported to be one of the hottest topics in two consecutive years by MIC, it is imperative to examine factors affecting the success of ERP implementation in enterprises. In a global economy, enterprises must be responsive to external business environment and make necessary changes. In spite of many failed cases of ERP implementations, enterprises still found that ERP implementation is important to their business survival, re-implementation are still going on nowadays. Managers also have to understand the globalization impact on business model and verify the necessity of ERP implementation. In order to examine the problems that enterprises are facing, the study used a survey method to collect data from sample enterprises with more than one ERP implementation experience. Therefore, the study investigated user’s acceptance and adoption of ERP and identified factors influencing successful ERP implementation for enterprises. The result found statistically significant differences between the enterprises with only one-time ERP implementation experience and those having multiple implementation ERP experiences. The findings provided useful evidences to previous ERP implementation research. Two variables, Total Cost of Ownership (TOC) and Project Support (PS), were found to predict ERP implementation success. However, further regression analyzes found negative influence of these two variables. The study speculated that, due to the failure experiences, the enterprises with more than one-time ERP implementation experience controlled their cost more cautiously than those with multiple implementation experiences. Moreover, the study argued that enterprises with multiple implementations should have the full support from organizations. Two variables, Business Model and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), were found to affect ERP re-implementation in global enterprises. Moreover, other variables, such as System Characteristics (SC) and User Characteristics (UC), were also found to have positive and significant influence on adopters’ beliefs. The study found that enterprises already with a global view were most equipped to identify key ERP functions and modules. ERP system characteristics, such as Ease of Use (EOU) and Perceived Usefulness (PU), were found to have positive influence on behavioral intention. In addition, PU also showed significant influence. The result supported that if ERP helps work efficiency, users and enterprises are willing to adopt ERP. The present study contributed to our understanding of ERP re-implementation and success.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT East Africa is an integral part of the Tullow business. Tullow has been active for over ten years in the onshore rift basins of East Africa, which began with the opening of the Uganda Lake Albert Rift Basin in 2006 following the drilling of Mputa-1. We developed multiple sub-surface evaluation tools and an understanding on how rift success factors can combine during the drilling of the Lake Albert Basin that we then applied to the Tertiary rifts of Kenya. Extensive Full Tensor Gradiometry (FTG), seismic and drilling has taken place over the last five years in Kenya. This has established the South Lokichar basin as a significant oil basin with significant remaining exploration upside. Up until 2015 exploration drilling in the South Lokichar utilized 2D seismic data. The acquisition of 3D seismic in the north and west of the basin has allowed an improved definition of the structural framework and highlighted additional exploration potential. The Etom-2 well spud in November 2015 highlights the value of this 3D seismic in complex structural settings. Etom-1 was planned and drilled on 2D seismic and encountered 10 m of oil pay. Subsequent re-mapping based upon the 3D seismic revealed that the Etom structure was more complicated than originally interpreted and that Etom-1 had drilled into a collapse graben and not tested the structural crest of the field. Etom-2 targeted the up-thrown northern fault block which was not penetrated by the Etom-1 well and encountered 102 m of oil pay. The northern part of the South Lokichar basin is structurally complex and the 3D seismic provided the required detail to highlight that Etom-1 hadn't properly tested the Etom structure. Further mapping of the 3D seismic in the area around Etom-2 has identified multiple follow-up prospects that could be part of a new play domain in the northern part of the South Lokichar Basin. These targets are the focus for Exploration drilling that is due to commence in Q4 2016.

Abstract:
This paper presents a coupled ETFM-VOF framework for the numerical simulation of multi-scale thin liquid films. A depth-averaged Eulerian thin-film model (ETFM) is used to simulate the oil flow in very thin-film regions where film thicknesses are below the grid resolution while elsewhere in the domain where grid resolution is sufficient to resolve the film, a traditional Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) approach is retained. The two approaches are coupled through momentum and mass conserving source terms and a transition criterion is introduced where the total liquid volume fraction in each cell is evaluated and either the ETFM or VOF approach used depending on the sufficiency of the local grid resolution. Using this approach, thin-film flows characterised by multiple film thickness scales may be reliably simulated at a relatively lower computational cost. The model builds upon currently available ETFM and VOF approaches to thin-film modelling and represents a novel approach to the numerical simulation of multiphase flows involving a varying range of film thickness scales in space and time. A numerical test case of the 3D rimming flow inside an idealised aero-engine bearing chamber has been used to demonstrate the approach and comparisons made against high resolution VOF solutions.
