Full textIn 1831, after the independence of New Spain, some French, living with difficulty in their village of Champlitte, headed towards Jicaltepec, in the North of Mexican state Veracruz, in order to participate to Etienne Guénot's « Compagnie française » project. Throughout the 19e century, French emigrants continuously settled there. In 1862, the French presence was strengthened by the intervention of Napoleon III, then, with the « Porfiriat », by favoring foreign investments. What was then the influence of France in Mexico ? Can we speak today about a « Franco Mexican » legacy ? Do Mexicans from French descent still speak their forebears' language ? What stakes are there in the conservation of the French language and culture ? Can one speak about « Francophonie » ? What factors come to influence their linguistic behaviors, their cultural practices and their representations of France, of French people, of Mexico, of Mexican people, of the same and of the other ? How do they define themselves ? What kind of identifications do they translate into words ?

Full textThe main subject is the contact between languages present in the formation of French as a Foreign Language teachers. Globalization has fostered that teaching foreign languages, particularly French, spreads throughout Mexico. However, Mexican students have their first contact with the French language permeated by certain social imaginaries. Over time, the imaginaries -particularly those related to Malinche- have had a significant role. The different imaginaries surrounding foreign languages and their speakers bring back old conceptions and behaviours while interaction with the other and when we speak another language. Imaginaries also serve to analyse power relationships between languages. Thus, heritage can be considered a socio-cultural screen that shapes our perception of otherness

Full textThe goal of this study is to clarify different issues concerning the mexican learners in foreign languages, in particula r those who take french as a foreign language at the guadalajara university(mexico). Our objectives are to know better the specificities of this public (needs, motivations, attitudes), and to propose some modifications for the school courses. Our head lines are the "learner centration" and the analysis of the learning situation. The first part of the investigat ion shows the scientifical basis of our procedure. Il presents differents points of view about the conception of the learner of one or several foreign languages, such as linguistics, socio-cultural and didactic modalities, which are described and analysed. The deductive method allows us to identify the theorical framework and to go through the pratical section of our research. This one is composed of a battery of questionnaire, we obtained a repertory of feature s, divised into three spheres : the cognitive, the affective and the social aspects having any kind of intervention in t he foreign language learning processus. This analyse shows the importance of the methodology based on the co-responsabil ity among the different members of a class group, where the pedagogical behavior takes a capital role. That's the reason why we suggest, instead of a "student centration", a "partner centration". This investigation conclude s with several hints for defining an adequate methodology for the mexican context

Full textThe purpose of this thesis was to study how French language teachers from two language centers in Mexico teach listening comprehension to their students. The hypothesis of the study was that French language instructors teach this controversial and complex skill on the basis of different methodological precepts learned from their French teacher training and their professional experience, as well as from the representations acquired from their professional working environment and from their personal experience of learning a second language. To complete our study we analysed the content and modalisation of the teachers' discourse. This study confirmed part of our hypothesis and highlighted the influence of the institutional context in the instructional methods and practice of French language teaching in Mexico

Full textThis study presents the French translation of an anthology of Mexican short-stories, written in 1959 by Eraclio Zepeda. These stories which deal with various aspects of the Chiapas Indian world transcend recurrent themes of indigenista literature. This thesis's purpose was to study how Zepeda tries in his book to recreate in Spanish, the Indian speaking way in order to pass on the Indian’s voice. That is why this study tackles three miscellaneous perspectives: after the translation, and a theoretical and practical reflection on it, the first point deals with a linguistic perspective, which studies the importance of the indigenous wording in contemporary Mexican language, and constitutes a dictionary of Mexican words, that Zepeda used in his writings. The second point treats of the historical background in order to explain the ideological and literary context which was contemporary to Benzulul's publication and connect it with the most recent incidents that happened in Chiapas. At last, using semiotics research, we try to describe the Indian’s character, and its connection with speech

Full textThis thesis is dedicated to the acquisition of French prosody as an 1,2 by Mexican Spanish university students positionated in two different proficiency levels. The main goals of this research are (i) to clarify wether the interlanguage prosodie rules are constrained by an L1 transfer and (ii) to examine in which measure different mechanisms related to the L2 acquisition process are activated during the learning of the L2 prosody. The study consisted in two different types of experiments: (i) the prosodic analysis of oral productions in Ll French and Spanish and L2 French, which are extracted from a large corpus, (ii) two perception experiments. Besides prosodie errors probably due to Ll transfer, the results show that learners overuse high lises at the end of information-seeking questions (yes-no and wh-questions) and at the right edge of non-final Intonational Phrases (IP). By contrast, the analysis of native oral production shows that these L2 prosodie patterns could not be explained in terms of an L1 transfer. The findings suggest also that there is a disociation between prosodie production and perception in L1 and L2. The results of the two perception experiments sugggest tha universal prosodie factors (e. G. Biological codes) are strongly activated during the L2 acquisition process. Hence, during the early stages of the L2 acquisition and in several linguistic contexts, L2 learners could em lo tonal primitives by default

Full textThe media, by telling the world what is going on, turn themselves into places of collective memoryand of expression of interculturality. By speading a collective way of thinking, they give information about the social relationships, the way people think, the system of values and the representations which govern the different cultural communities. The intercultural representations express, often implicity, collective imaginaries, which constitute the bases of the collective identities of these different communities. Thus, the representations -process to acquire knownledge- contibute to the building up of social groups, of their interrelations and of their identities. Understanding the way they function and the part they play, by studying their wordings in the media, allows to better understand these processes of social and individual organization and structuring. The comparative analysis of the language used in french newspapers Libération and le Figaro, in 1984, focussing on the information related to economics and sport event, shed light both on the intercultural representations France has of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, and on the discursive processes which convey them. The integration of an identitary speech into the language used by the media takes place through the choice of the events dealt with and through the way the information is tackled, thanks to strategies of expression of subjectivity. Becoming aware of the activ role of the representations in the constitution of the culture and of the influence of these representations over the behaviours and speeches can lead to an evolution of the social relationships. This awareness of a better understanding of the other can be applied to the teaching of languages and cultures, since the intercultural representations constitute a subject which, by giving access to the implicite references of the native speackers which codify their own way of speacking, can lead to a better intercultural communication
