Four Jerningham Augustinian canonesses from Bruges were at Cossey, the home of Sir William Jerningham (1736–1809), in the summer of 1794, and then lived at Hengrave Hall near Bury St. Edmunds Suffolk. The legal training in Vienna changed greatly due to the reforms of Maria Theresa (1740–1780). She formulated a dual goal for the Vienna Faculty of Law in her study decree of 1753.
