Abstract:

The Neotropical genus Protoconnus Franz, belonging to the tribe Glandulariini, is revised. Protoconnus is redefined based on detailed morphological study, and all known species are revised, including 10 originally placed in Protoconnus, one transferred from Euconnus, and 14 described as new. Abstract:

The aim of this paper regarding Pavol Strauss‘ Literary Work in the Central European Context is to introduce Pavol Strauss as a man and a writer, who was with his heart and soul a Central European. He had a strong bound to this territory spatially and temporally. At first, he was chased as a Jew, later on in the age of 30 he converted into Catholic. During the period of Stalinism, they considered him a second-class citizen, and he was wrongly called the clero-fascists however he was a believing Catholic. He was literally active in the second half of the 1930s, when he published two poetic collections in German. His poems in German were influenced by avant-garde which he became in touch with in Prague – its literary atmosphere defined Pavol Strauss’ literary experiments and further orientation. When speaking of Prague, also think of Franz Kafka, Franz Werfel and, of course, Reiner Maria Rilke. From the literary point of view, Pavol Strauss with his literary essays reached the highest level along with famous authors (R. Musil, K. Kraus, H. Broch). For his 82 years long life, Pavol Strauss cured many patients and left rare books of a unique philosophical dimension.

Abstract:

The Australian monospecific genus Palaeoscydmaenus Franz is revised based on the type material of P. australiensis Franz. The original placement of Palaeoscydmaenus in the tribe Scydmaenini is regarded as erroneous and evidence is provided to support a formal transfer of this genus to Cyrtoscydmini. Diagnostic characters of Scydmaenini and Cyrtoscydmini are discussed, Palaeoscydmaenus is redefined, and P. australiensis is redescribed.

Abstract:

To date, three nominal species of the eutheiine genus Paraneseuthia were known to occur in Japan (in Honshū and Kyūshū). A female of an undescribed species was also recorded from Iriomote Island of the Ryūkyū Archipelago. Two new species are here added to this list: P. ishigakianas p. n. (Ishigaki Is.) and P. ehimensis sp. n. (Shikoku). Paraneseuthia holzneri (Franz), described on the basis of a single male with erected and distorted aedeagus, is recorded from a new locality and its aedeagus is illustrated.

Abstract:

In the first part discusses the contribution the question of so-called ‘progressive’ educational innovations and changes that can only work, however convincing, if they are based on a secure basis of legitimacy and argumentation. We must protest against that in education, ‘fashion’ adapted ideology to ideas, even fiction is highly stylized, which is used in its logical consequences rather the confusion in the structuring and specialized language, such as Franz Hofmann already sends a reminder. Knowledge from the history of science is the starting point of our deliberations. The second part focuses with the practical consequence, the relationship between teaching method and personal settings of the teachers and the associated impact on the learning environment. It addresses significantly shortcomings of current work, and tries to imagine about that ‘antitype’ of teaching in the form of a traditional, problematic conception of teaching, one of the current teacher ethos characterized teaching on the basis of historically grounded, and the times soon technical and professional competences. In einem ersten Teil diskutiert der Beitrag die Frage von sog. ‚fortschrittlichen‘ pädagogischen Neuerungen und Veränderungen, die allerdings nur überzeugend wirken können, wenn sie auf einer sicheren Argumentations- und Legitimationsbasis beruhen. Wir müssen uns dagegen verwahren, dass in der Pädagogik der ‚Mode‘ angepasstes Gedankengut zu Ideen, ja Fiktionen hochstilisiert wird, das in seinen logischen Konsequenzen eher der Verwirrung der Strukturierungen und Fachsprache diene, wie Franz Hofmann2 bereits anmahnte. Erkenntnisse aus der Wissenschaftsgeschichte sind Ausgangspunkt der Überlegungen.Der zweite Teil befasst sich mit der praktischen Konsequenz, dem Zusammenhang von Unterrichtsweise und persönlicher Einstellung der Lehrenden und den damit verbundenen Auswirkungen auf das Lernklima. Es werden wesentliche Defizite gegenwärtiger Arbeit angesprochen, und es wird versucht, über das ‚Gegenbild‘ von Unterricht in Form einer überkommenen, problematischen Auffassung von Unterrichten, einen vom aktuellen Lehrerethos geprägten Unterricht auf der Grundlage historisch begründeter und dem Zeitgeist naher Sach- und Handlungskompetenzen vorzustellen.

Abstract:

The genus Plaumanniola Costa Lima, 1962 was a subject of several taxonomical and morphological studies. It is one of very few scydmaenines originally placed not only in a different beetle family, but even a superfamily. The first species of Plaumanniola, P. sanctaecatharinae Costa Lima, 1962 was confused with myrmecophilous spider beetles and placed in a new subfamily Plaumanniolinae of Ptinidae. Transferred to Scydmaenidae by Lawrence & Reichardt (1966), it remained placed as a separate subfamily, and after merging the ant-like stone beetles with Staphylinidae, as a tribe Plaumanniolini of Scydmaenitae (Newton & Franz 1998; Grebennikov & Newton 2009). Franz (1990) redescribed P. sanctaecatharinae, but Jałoszyński (2013) found his redescription to have been based on a misidentified new species, which he described as P. regina Jałoszyński, 2013. The latter author illustrated previously unknown morphological structures, redefined Plaumanniola and discussed its possible close affinities with Glandulariini (Jałoszyński 2013). The unusually stout and flattened body, with especially flat and broad head (interpreted as possible adaptations towards myrmecophily, e.g., Lenko (1972)), differentiated Plaumanniolini from all other Scydmaeninae, but no other characters were found to support a separate position of this monogeneric tribe. Shortly later, a relatively slender P. simplicissima Jałoszyński, 2014 was described on the basis of material collected in Bolivia. Finally, a discovery made by Jałoszyński (2016) that Euconnus octosetosus Franz, 1994, was in fact a strikingly slender member of Plaumanniola, and that the aedeagus of Plaumanniola highly resembles that of Euconnus (Rhomboconnus Franz, 1986), lead to placing Plaumanniolini as a junior synonym of Glandulariini. It is possible that in future Plaumanniola will be reduced to a subgenus of Euconnus.

<p>Recibido: 06/01/2016 • Aceptado: 27/03/2017</p><p> </p><p>Este artículo acomete el análisis de la concepción de temporalidad desarrollada por el filósofo alemán Franz Rosenzweig (1886-1929), a partir del escrutinio de su principal obra Der Stern der Erlösung (1921), desde una perspectiva fenomenológica. El tiempo, ahí, se comprende en una tridimensionalidad, a la luz de la noción del «Día de Dios». El planteamiento del pensador judío evidencia una ruptura con las tesis filosóficas modernas, que presentan el tiempo como absoluto. En oposición a esta creencia, establece una relación entre redención e historia del mundo, donde la eternidad comprende, en su estructura, pasado, presente y futuro. En la primera parte, se expondrá una breve semblanza del casselense. A continuación, se presenta una exposición de la tradición judía sobre el tiempo, de la que se deriva una crítica a su concepción moderna. A continuación, se expone la doctrina sobre el tiempo que presenta La estrella de la redención y, finalmente, se concluye mostrando la relación entre temporalidad y eternidad como la expuso Franz Rosenzweig.</p>

Abstract:

Introduction: Degree of skin penetration of topical drugs and cosmetics is a crucial point concerning their effects and tolerability. For testing drug delivery across the dermal barrier different in vitro and in vivo assays have been developed. Caffeine has been shown to have beneficial effects against skin aging, sunburn and hair-loss, and it is protective against melanoma and non-melanoma type skin cancers. Aim of our study was to set up an assay system to evaluate caffeine penetration from topical formulation into the skin. </P><P> Methods: Franz diffusion cells consisting of either a filter paper or an artificial membrane or rat skin were used as in vitro/ex vivo test systems and transdermal microdialysis in anaesthetized rats was performed as an in vivo assay. </P><P> Results: Results indicate that Franz diffusion cell studies provide a good approximation of the release of caffeine from the formulation but are not able to differentiate between 2% and 4% cream concentrations. The maximum concentrations (Cmax) in case of the 2% cream formulation were 708.3 (2.7 μm pore), 78.7 (0.8 µm pore), 45.3 (0.45 µm pore) and 44.9 (rat skin) µg/7.5 mL, respectively. The in vivo microdialysis experiments were in accordance with the in vitro and ex vivo results and gave more information on the dynamics and follicular and transcellular phases of drug penetration through the layers of the skin. </P><P> Discussion and Conclusion: Taken together, Franz diffusion cell and transdermal microdialysis are a good combination to evaluate caffeine release and penetration into the skin from the formulations tested. This system might also be used for rapid testing of other hydrophilic topical drugs and has a benefit in the prediction for human skin absorption and tolerability studies, in an early phase of drug development.

Abstract:

<p>No esforço de conjugar Literatura e Direito, notadamente Direito Processual do Trabalho, este artigo envereda na crônica do escritor tcheco, Franz Kafka (1883-1924), intitulada: “O processo” de modo a examinar a conexão entre a obra literária e a realidade fática enfrentada pelos “camponeses” na garantia fundamental de acesso à Justiça. Isso implica dizer que os mecanismos da burocracia processual constituem, mesmo para os “camponeses que conseguiram entrar na lei”, a negativa do acesso à Justiça. Confrontou-se o processo kafkaniano com as garantias fundamentais emanadas pela Constituição da República de 1988 resultando na repulsa do formalismo capaz de afrontar os Direitos Humanos. A tônica está em examinar se as dificuldades enfrentadas no ambiente do trabalho são transferidas para “o processo”, em especial com a falácia do <em>ius postulandi</em>, a implantação do Processo Judicial Eletrônico - PJe e a vedação ao reexame de provas, sem a pretensão de esgotar os temas. Por fim, arremata percebendo a incompatibilidade do “processo” com o Estado Democrático de Direito.</p>

<p class="07KatakunciKeywords"><span>Dalam sejarah dunia khususnya Islam telah banyak dihasilkan penelitian tentang orientalisme, bahkan dalam perkembangan pemikiran saat ini tema orientalisme semakin relevan untuk diangkat kembali. Karena pada zaman sekarang semakin berkembang dengan mengadopsi pandangan. Kerangka kerja dan kritik orientalis tentang Islam menjadi trend dikangan cendikiawan Muslim. Tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah untuk mengetahui perspektif tokoh-tokoh orientalis yaitu Ignaz Goldziher dan Joseph Franz Schacht dalam mengkaji hadits dan bantahan kaum Muslim atas pandangan tokoh orientalis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan ini adalah <em>Library Research </em>yang bersifat kualitatif. Dengan teknik analisis data deduktif. Hasil dari tulisan ini adalah Ignaz Goldziher secara garis besar meragukan keorisinilan dan keontetitasan hadits. Sedangkan Joseph Franz Schacht menunjukkan sikap skeptis terhadap bentuk-bentuk kritik periwayatan hadits. Sehingga baik Goldziher maupun Shcacht sama-sama mengkaji hadits dengan landasan pemikiran mentah-mentah. Namun Pendapat dan teori-teori yang dikemukakan oleh Schacht disanggah dengan jenius oleh Mustafa Azami, dengan mematahkan satu-persatu teori yang dikemukakan oleh Schacht dalam mengkritik hadits.</span></p>

Four new species of the eutheiine genus Paraneseuthia Franz are described: P. libanica sp. n. (Lebanon), P. rugosa sp. n. (Papua New Guinea), P. olszanowskii sp. n. (Indonesia: Sumatra), and P. acehiana sp. n. (Indonesia: Sumatra). Paraneseuthia libanica is the second known Mediterranean (and western Palaearctic) species of this predominantly Australo-Oriental and Far Eastern genus. In order to verify whether this species with unusually slender and small adults truly belongs in Paraneseuthia, the male cephalic and thoracic morphological structures were studied and illustrated. No taxonomically important differences were found among west Palaearctic and previously studied sub-Himalayan, east Palaeartic and SE Asian species.

Abstract:

Neste artigo abordamos uma carta de Franz Kafka escrita em 1921, na qual ele apresenta a seu amigo Robert Klopstock sua interpretação do personagem bíblico Abraão. Nosso objetivo é ressaltar o humor presente nessa interpretação kafkiana como uma das marcas pouco analisadas no judeu de Praga. Para tanto apresentaremos primeiramente o Elogio de Abraão proposto por Kierkegaard em seu Temor e Tremor, afim de observar a possível influência do filósofo dinamarquês sobre as conclusões propostas pelo próprio Kafka. Na sequência serão apresentadas as três principais figuras criadas por Kafka, a do Abraão incapaz de realizar sua função, mas que permanece sempre em prontidão; a do Abraão trapaceiro, que não termina suas funções na casa para não ter que realizar o que Deus lhe pede; e a do Abraão inseguro, que ouve o chamado, mas que não acredita que este lhe diga respeito. Ressaltamos nas três figuras kafkianas a intenção primordial dele em produzir uma outra forma de elogio, uma que se adequa melhor à sua sensibilidade permeada pelo humor judaico, que aquela da serenidade cristã proposta por Kierkegaard.

<p><strong>RESUMO:</strong></p><p>Este trabalho tem por objetivo trazer as contribuições teóricas de Franz Neumann e Boaventura de Sousa Santos no que tange ao direito e à emancipação. Primeiro são resgatados aspectos históricos das relações entre Estado, Direito e capitalismo. Em seguida são traçadas algumas características das perspectivas dos pensadores, que são posteriormente analisadas em conjunto. Com formações e vivências diversas, os dois autores contribuem para se pensar formas de emancipação social a partir do Direito, ambos polissêmicos. Constata-se semelhanças e divergências entre suas propostas, as últimas notadamente na visão a respeito do direito, que enriquecem o debate atual. Enquanto aquele trabalha primordialmente numa concepção estatal, este transita do local ao global. Ambos enxergam no capitalismo uma barreira para a emancipação e consideram imprescindível transformar os campos estatais, sociais e jurídicos nas páginas da história humana. As próximas, em branco, estão em disputa. A pesquisa é de cunho bibliográfico.</p><p> <strong>ABSTRACT:</strong></p><p>This paper aims to bring theoretical contributions from Franz Neumann and Boaventura de Sousa Santos regarding to law and emancipation. Firstly, historical aspects of relations between State, Law and capitalism are retrieved. Hereupon, some characteristics concerning the two thinkers’ perspectives are outlined and then analyzed en bloc. Having distinct formations and experiences, the two authors contribute to think forms of social emancipation through law, both polissemic terms. Similarities and divergences between their propositions are evidenced, namely in their visions concerning law, which enriches the current debate. While Neumann works mainly in a stateview, Santos transits from local to global. Both see in capitalism a hurdle to emancipation and consider vital to transform state, social and juridical fields in the pages of human history. The next ones, in blank, are in dispute. The research is bibliographical.</p>

Rhinosinusitis is a prevalent disorder with a severe impact on the health-related quality of life. Saponins of Cyclamen europaeum exert a clinically proven curative effect on rhinosinusitis symptoms when instilled into the nasal cavity, however, more extensive preclinical assessment is required to better characterize the efficacy of this botanical extract. This work evaluates the potential use of a natural freeze-dried extract of C. europaeum given as topical nasal administration. Permeation experiment on porcine nasal mucosa was performed with Franz diffusion cells. Experiments in rabbits were performed to test for any toxicological, hematological, biochemical or histological evidence of systemic action. No theoretical levels of saponins were found in the receptor chamber of Franz diffusion cells. Hematological data did not show significant differences between control and experimental animals (p > 0.05). Histological studies also showed that enhanced secretory activity in response to intranasal administration was not accompanied by any visible signs of injury. An examination of the brain, lungs, liver, kidneys, spleen, and gastrointestinal organs did not reveal any abnormality. The absence of mucosal permeation of saponins and negligible probability of C. europaeum saponins absorption in the course of a therapeutic application was demonstrated.

Topical psoralens plus ultraviolet A radiation (PUVA) therapy consists in the topical application of 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) followed by the skin irradiation with ultraviolet A radiation. The employment of classical 8-MOP vehicles in topical PUVA therapy is associated with poor skin deposition and weak skin permeability of psoralens, thus requiring frequent drug administration. The aim of the present work was to formulate solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) able to increase the skin permeation of 8-MOP. For this purpose, the penetration enhancer Transcutol® P (TRC) was added to the SLN formulation. SLNs were characterized with respect to size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency, morphology, stability, and biocompatibility. Finally, 8-MOP skin diffusion and distribution within the skin layers was investigated using Franz cells and newborn pig skin. Freshly prepared nanoparticles showed spherical shape, mean diameters ranging between 120 and 133 nm, a fairly narrow size distribution, highly negative ζ potential values, and high entrapment efficiency. Empty and loaded formulations were almost stable over 30 days. In vitro penetration and permeation studies demonstrated a greater 8-MOP accumulation in each skin layer after SLN TRC 2% and TRC 4% application than that after SLN TRC 0% application. Finally, the results of experiments on 3T3 fibroblasts showed that the incorporation of TRC into SLNs could enhance the cellular uptake of nanoparticles, but it did not increase their cytotoxicity.

Michael Lappert was one of the giants of twentieth-century organometallic chemistry. His research, carried out over six decades and leading to about 800 publications, had a profound and influential effect on the field, and his contributions covered almost every block of the Periodic Table. His early reputation was established by his extensive studies in boron chemistry exemplified by the reports of BCl 4 − , BN cyclobutadiene analogues, triborylamines, BCl 3 -catalysed ortho -Claisen rearrangements and evidence for restricted rotation about the B–N bond in aminoboranes. He had a lifelong interest in amides, including those of carbon, and especially electron-rich olefins, which remarkably were the ready source of numerous transition-metal carbene complexes. The last could also be obtained directly from the Vilsmeier reagent. He was the first to show that a carbene complex may act as an initiator of olefin metathesis. Later interests concerned the syntheses of new types of compound from all blocks of the Periodic Table driven by his imaginative use of new types of ligand (either sterically crowded or having no β-hydrogen atoms, often including SiMe 3 or Bu t substituents to confer lipophilicity). The use of CH n SiMe (3− n ) ( n = 0, 1 or 2) to stabilize transition-metal alkyl compounds was a major advance, because at the time stable homoleptic (a term he introduced) transition-metal alkyl compounds were unknown. He showed that the −CH(SiMe 3 ) 2 ligand could stabilize both low-coordinate transition metal and lanthanide compounds. Similarly, carbene analogues of the Main Group 14 elements germanium, tin and lead were obtained. Surprisingly in the solid state, these species were weakly dimerized (for example R 2 Sn=SnR 2 ), and unexpectedly exhibited a pyramidalized geometry at the heavy element. The latter had very significant bonding implications, because it differed fundamentally from the well-known planar structure of the corresponding alkenes. The first persistent or stable paramagnetic heavier Main Group element species MR 2 (M = P or As) and MR 3 (M = Ge or Sn) were also obtained while parallel work using −N(SiMe 3 ) 2 resulted in the corresponding Main Group amido derivatives. Other lipophilic ligands, such as β-diketiminates, were also widely used, as were bulky aryloxo and thiolato ligands, to obtain stable low-coordinate Main Group species. The first examples of d- and f-block species containing bridging alkyl groups were described. Those who worked with him cited his vast knowledge and supportive low-key advisory style, which ensured a contented and productive laboratory atmosphere. In addition to his scientific work, he was deeply interested in opera, literature and the theatre, about which he could talk knowledgeably.

Abstract:

The absorption study of drugs through different biological membranes constitutes an essential step in the development of new pharmaceutical dosage forms. Concerning orally administered forms, methods based on monolayer cell culture of Caco-2 (Caucasian colon adenocarcinoma) have been developed to emulate intestinal mucosa in permeability studies. Although it is widely accepted, it has disadvantages, such as high costs or high technical complexity, and limitations related to the simplified structure of the monolayer or the class of molecules that can be permeated according to the transport mechanisms. The aim of this work was to develop a new ex vivo methodology which allows the evaluation of the intestinal apparent permeability coefficient (Papp) while using fewer resources and to assess the correlation with Caco-2. To this end, pig (Sus scrofa) duodenum segments were mounted in Franz diffusion cells and used to permeate four different drugs: ketorolac tromethamine (Kt), melatonin (Mel), hydrochlorothiazide (Htz), and furosemide (Fur). No statistically significant differences (p > 0.05) were observed corelating Papp values from Franz diffusion cells and Caco-2 cell experiments for Kt, Htz, and Fur. However, there were statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) correlating Papp values and Mel. The difference is explained by the role of Mel in the duodenal epithelial paracellular permeability reduction. Ex vivo permeation may be an equivalent method to Caco-2 for drugs that do not produce intestinal membrane phenomena that could affect absorption.
