Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to analyze the cost implications of various provisions of the Virginia Nutrient Credit Exchange Act. The first objective was to estimate the cost implications of point source trading provisions of the Act. An integer programming cost minimization model was constructed to estimate the cost of achieving four point source trading policy scenarios. The model estimated the annual cost of meeting two different nutrient cap levels, each with and without a limits-of-technology concentration standard requirement for new and expanding point sources. The limits-of-technolo

The research builds on and contributes to the representation in landscape, specifically the imaging of active landscapes. Current representational methodologies in landscape architecture have already defined various regimes for the mapping of landscapes. Most of these operate by portraying existing conditions that prioritize visual and formal qualities, displacing objects from their wider context and creating neutral artificialities. Although the discourse of representation has already emphasized the need for appropriate methodologies that engage more closely with the landscape, there has not

Prior to 1989, in New Zealand, very few women were represented in senior leadership positions in schools, especially co-educational secondary schools. Following the 1989 Education Act, commonly referred to as the 'Tomorrow's Schools' legislation, women began to be appointed in increasing numbers to school principalships. In New Zealand, as in other western democracies where New Right ideologies have impacted on educational policy, the role of the school principal has become more demanding and complex. If principals are to be supported in this role, it is considered important that the knowledge

This is a longitudinal study of patterns of children's early literacy development with a view to predicting literacy achievement after one year of schooling. The study fits within an emergent/social constructivist theoretical framework that acknowledges a child as an active learner who constructs meaning from signs and symbols in the company of other more experienced language users. Commencing in the final month of preschool, the literacy achievement of 114 young Australian students was mapped throughout Year 1. Data were gathered from measures of literacy achievement with the students, survey

Increased urbanization causes pervious greenfields to be converted to impervious areas increasing stormwater runoff. Most of the urban floods occur because existing drainage systems are unable to handle peak flows during rainfall events. During a storm event, flood runoff will carry contaminants to receiving waters such as rivers and creeks. Engineers and scientists have combined their knowledge to introduce innovative thinking to manage the quality of urban runoff and harvest stormwater for productive purposes. The introduction of pervious pavements addresses all the principles in Water Sen

Abstract:
This study deals with the impact of Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1996) at Vista University (Mamelodi Campus) from the year 1981-2004. Vista University was an academic institution which was established in 1981 under the Vista University Act (Act 106 of 1981). The dissertation has convincingly argued that the management of Vista University needed to comply with the principles of the Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995). The study has shown that the Act had a negative impact on the employee-management relationship. The study proposes and recommends that the management should create a good lab
