Abstract Idealized dynamical theories that employ a convective quasi-equilibrium (QE) treatment for the diabatic effects of moist convection have been used to explain the location, intensity, and intraseasonal evolution of monsoons. This paper examines whether observations of the earth’s regional monsoons are consistent with the assumption of QE. It is shown here that in local summer climatologies based on reanalysis data, maxima of free-tropospheric temperature are, indeed, nearly collocated with maxima of subcloud equivalent potential temperature, θeb, in all monsoon regions except the North

Abstract:
The energetic implementation of the 1992 programme should not be allowed to put the contribution of the Court of Justice to the establishment of the Common Market in the shade. Its case law on the direct effect of Treaty provisions concerning the free circulation of persons, services and goods enables European workers and business-men to fight effectively against protectionism in the EEC Member States. The Court gives, moreover, a very broad interpretation to the prohibitions contained in these provisions and, reciprocally, a very restrictive interpretation to their exceptions. This approach l

Abstract:
Abstract </DEL> CD5, a transmembrane protein expressed in T-cells, few B-cells, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) B-cells, is the ligand for CD72 and may play a role in B-cell-T-cell communication. CD5 is part of the T-cell receptor (TCR)-CD3 complex in T-cells as well as the B-cell receptor (BCR) complex and serves as substrate for induction of tyrosine kinase activity. Since leukemic cells have high turnover and pour their protein, RNA, and DNA into the circulation, we speculated that free circulating CD3 (cCD3) and CD5 (cCD5) could be detected in the plasma of patients wi
