Abstract:
Loday and Ronco introduced the notions of a~trioid and a trialgebra, and constructed the free trioid of rank 1 and the free trialgebra. This paper is a survey of recent developments in the study of free objects in the varieties of trioids and trialgebras. We present the constructions of the free trialgebra and the free trioid, the free commutative trioid, the free n-nilpotent trioid, the free left (right) n-trinilpotent trioid, and the free rectangular trioid. Some of these results can be applied to constructing relatively free trialgebras.

Abstract:
The word problem for free bands (idempotent semigroups) was solved by Green and Rees [4] in an early paper. They also established certain properties of the free band. This was followed by McLean [6] who provided a general structure theory for bands with some indication as to the structure of the free band. Since then a great many papers have appeared dealing with various aspects of the topic of bands and their varieties. A different solution of the word problem for free bands was recently given by Siekmann and Szabó [9]. For a discussion of bands, see the books [5] and [8].

Abstract:
The cost of college is remarkable. Shelling out thousands of dollars for some knowledge and a receipt claiming you paid is, in a few words, the modern American college system. Perhaps unsurprisingly, policies have been proposed to reduce the cost of college, even making it free in some instances. On Jan. 9, 2015 President Obama unveiled a plan to make “two years of community college free for responsible students across America.” Given the Republican control of Congress, the idea stands little chance of being passed, but it is still interesting to consider. Under the President’s plan, all Americans, regardless of income, would have access to two years of free community college education provided the student maintains a 2.5 GPA and part-time status. Though the benefits would be numerous, so would the costs.

Abstract:
AbstractThe paper presents a uniform proof-theoretic treatment of several kinds of free logic, including the logics of existence and definedness applied in constructive mathematics and computer science, and called here quasi-free logics. All free and quasi-free logics considered are formalised in the framework of sequent calculus, the latter for the first time. It is shown that in all cases remarkable simplifications of the starting systems are possible due to the special rule dealing with identity and existence predicate. Cut elimination is proved in a constructive way for sequent calculi adequate for all logics under consideration.
