Full textAt many workplaces, employee surveys are carried out. The aim is usually to identify improvement areas in the work environment. The study is about frequent variations of employee surveys that are used in groups on many occasions during the year. One advantage is the possibility of detecting working environment problems directly as they occur. Five managers and five employees were interviewed, and their experiences of pulsed/frequent employee surveys have been analyzed. There are positive reviews, but many challenges were identified. A managerial challenge was the response rate, as many chose not to respond to the questionnaires because of an unsatisfactory follow-up of results. There was also concern that anonymity was not guaranteed. By not answering, employees can demonstrate their power towards management. An organizational misbehaviour turned out to emerge. A number of ideal types were identified in the study and their connection to loyalty, organizational misbehaviour and power are presented.

Full textBackground: The fact that medication is taken as prescribed by the doctor is a basic precondition for a treatment to give the desired effect, but this is not the case with half of all prescriptions. An important prerequisite for the patient to be able to carry out their drug treatment according to the prescription is that they know which drugs to use and how to use them. In order for them to be able to do that, patients need to receive information from somewhere. Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate how patients know which drugs and which dosage to use. More specifically, the survey will answer the following two questions: What drug lists have patients received in the past year? What sources of information do patients primarily use to know which drugs to use and what dosage? Method: This project consisted of data collection at pharmacies and analysis of the results. The data collection was carried out by four pharmacy students from Linnaeus University at seven different pharmacies. Pharmacy students used a structured interview guide with patients who agreed to participate in the study. The answers from patients were collected and analysed in Excel. Results: A total of 400 individuals who met the inclusion criteria to participate in the study were asked and 215 individuals, 135 women and 80 men, agreed to participate. The response rate was 54%. Together, the individuals had 1717 prescriptions. The study showed that the most frequently used / obtained source of information was a print-out from the national prescription repository called “My saved prescriptions in pharmacies”. The primary source of information for knowing which drugs to use was the response option “other source of information” (such as asking the doctor) and that the source most frequently used to keep track of dosage was the dosage label. Discussion: The study indicated that of the oldest individuals who participated in the study, just a few used the digital sources of information. In general, it was common to ask the doctor to keep track of current medications and dosage. The most common reason for declining to participate in the study was a lack of time. The study was performed at pharmacies in various Swedish cities, which increase the generalizability of the results.

Full textOne third of the workers in the construction industry will retire by 2025. Th is entails that young workers in the industry face major challenges with producing dwellings in today's high pressured housing market. A survey shows that employees in the construction industry stay awake at night due to concerns about job- related issues. Therefore it is of outmost importance to streamline and eliminate the disturbances in the building production. The purpose with this master thesis is to locate common production disturbances and investigate the relationship between these in different construction projects. The purpose is also to investigate whether JM's new method of monitoring timetables is perceived to be effective of its own employees. This study is a survey with both qualitative and quantitati ve elements. The data collection is mainly provided through interviews with works managers and local managers for each project as well as various documents from the projects. Data collection has also been obtained through access to JM's database as well as an interview with one of the production managers at JM. The study shows that disturbances related to preparatory work, resources, construction documents and deliveries are the most frequent in JM's construction project. Based on these disorders deviations, three liaisons have been identified: Disturbances related to spadework arise due to lack of geotechnical investigations Disturbances in the preparatory work leads to extended construction time Inaccurate information in documents causes disturbances in frameworks The result of the study also shows that the method of monitoring timetables is too new to allow respondents to reflect the experience of this in a greater extent. Despite the given statement it is concluded that it is unreasonable at this stage to answer the question of whether the measurement method can contribute to reduce delays of future projects. Based on respondents' views on improvements to the measurement method, the following conclusions can be drawn: The protocol needs to include more activities in order to document the start times for all stages The purpose of the method and the vision of how the timeplan strategies will evolve during the next five years needs to be clarified

Full textThe Baltic Sea suffers from eutrophication caused by a large nutrient supply of phosphorousand nitrogen. The supply is dominated by waterborne phosphorous and Sweden is thethird largest source of phosphorous to the Baltic Sea. Horses normally spend time outsidein smaller paddocks during the winter season where they fertilise the soil with nutrientsfrom the manure. Added phosphorous to the soil increases the risk of phosphorus-richsurface runoff from the paddock. In addition, the soil risks being saturated with phosphorus, which results in a phosphorus leakage to nearby watercourses, and eventually tothe seas.In this study, the effect of removing manure from the paddocks through mucking wasstudied. Precipitation were monitored in relation to the amount of phosphorous in manure.A literature review combined with a field study in three parts were conducted toexamine whether mucking was an effective measure against accumulation of phosphorusin the soil. The study took place in a 0,09 hectare paddock with two horses during twomonths. The first part of the field study focused on how much manure and phosphoruscould be mucked out of the paddock during daily mucking, weekly mucking and muckingafter one month. The results showed that daily mucking removed 78 % of the manure and73 % of the phosphorous, which corresponds to 5,5 g of phosphorus per day and horse.Daily mucking, compared to monthly, removed 80 kg more manure from the paddock.Daily mucking compared to weekly removed 60 kg more manure. Although the paddockwas thoroughly cleaned, it was not possible to get more than 36 % of the manure afterone month.Part two in the study examined the amount of phosphorous in manure piles that wereleft in the field for a total of two months. Sampling of manure, in cylinders, showedthat after eight weeks only 25 % of the phosphorous remained in the manure. The restwas considered lost. Lastly, an irrigation study was carried out in a laboratory. The testfocused on phosphorous leakage from the manure in case of heavy rain. The irrigationstudy showed that the phosphorous leaked during rainfall. After a rain equivalent to 100mm, the results showed that about 40 % of the phosphorus in horse manure leaked.

Full textThe aim of this study was to investigate the frequency and duration of physical activity required to maintain adequate vitamin D status in postmenopausal women. PubMed was used as a search tool for assessing relevant information about theory, concept and methods. Mesh-filter was applied in order to narrow down the search area to physical activity and its use in a therapeutic purpose. Seven articles in total were considered relevant for evaluating the purpose of the study. Among the seven articles, six were analytical cross sectional studies and one study was a randomized control trial. The investigations present associations between vitamin D and physical function, muscle-strength, fall and fracture, BMD and duration of physical activity, which is also correlated to increased sun exposure. However, cross sectional study alone are limited in terms of their causality. The associations observed mainly predict the expected effect of a certain parameter. Based on these facts, it would be interesting to investigate the effects of physical activity on vitamin D assessing epidemiologic and clinical methods in order to acquire short-term results. Adequate information regarding the relevancy of physical activity on vitamin D status today appears inadequate to support distinct recommendations on this topic.
