Abstract:
The article deals with analysis of the history of V. Stefanyk’s appearance in the artistic dimension of the French literature, starting from the first references in French-language periodicals by virtue of translations and ending with solid scientific investigations. The aim of the research is to systematize critical reviews, trace the evolution of critical interpretation and prove the agreement of the creative method of the Ukrainian short story writer with the development of the Western European literary process. The French public’s acquaintance with Stefanyk’s creative work took its rise in 1899 and lasts up to this day, just as we approach the celebration of the 150th anniversary of his birth. The extraordinary talent of the Pokuttia word-painter, who treated the story as a canvas, painting it with words, fascinates us with its scanty emotionalism, intense expressiveness and impressionistic picturesqueness of the works.

Abstract:
Previous studies of narrative development based on wordless picture stories indicate that before 7–8 years most children provide descriptive narratives with little inferential content such as explanations and attribution of mental states to the story characters. These components find greater expression in studies where children participated in conversations focused on the causes of the events. In the present study, 84 French-speaking children, from kindergarten to second grade, narrated the Stone story (a wordless five-picture story whose plot is based on a misunderstanding between two characters) before and after a short conversational intervention (SCI) focused on the causes of the events, as well as one week later when they also narrated a new story. Thirty additional children served as the Control group: instead of the SCI they played a Memory game with a set of cards containing the pictures of the Stone story. Children in the SCI group increased the inferential content of the narrative produced after the SCI, thus confirming with a larger sample findings obtained in previous studies. Moreover, results provide new evidence that the immediate improvements in inferential content were still present after a week’s delay and could also be applied to a new story. All narratives produced after the SCI were also longer and contained more markers of causality. The effect was stronger in first and second graders than in kindergarten children. By contrast, no significant improvements were found in the children of the Control group on any of the measures. Such results highlight the effectiveness of the SCI in promoting children’s narrative skills, its usefulness in their assessment, and have important implications for a better understanding of narrative development.

Prominent examples of major Qur'anic characters in modern world literature include Joseph (and Zulaykha) -like characters in the 1984 Arabic novel, al-Rahīna (The Hostage) by the Yemeni writer Zayd Muṭīʿ Dammāj (d. 2000) and the fictionalised portrayal of the women around the Prophet Muḥammad in Algerian filmmaker and novelist Assia Djebar's 1991 French novel, Loin de Médine (Far from Medina). In this article I focus, rather, on a ‘minor’ Qur'anic character, al-Khiḍr (cf. Q. 18:65–82). I begin by looking briefly at the evolution of al-Khiḍr in Islamic literatures generally and then focus on his deployment in several short fictional accounts, viz. the 1995 French novella L'homme du livre (Muhammad, A Novel) by Moroccan author Driss Chraïbi (d. 2007); Victor Pelevin's 1994 Russian short story, ‘Prints Gosplana’ (Prince of Gosplan); the 1998 short story, ‘The Mapmakers of Spitalfields’, by Bangladeshi-British writer Manzu Islam; and Reza Daneshvar's 2004 Persian tale, ‘Mahboobeh va-Āl’ (‘Mahboobeh and Ahl’). I characterise the ways in which these modern authors draw on the al-Khiḍr type, persona, and legend, and go on to suggest how and why the use of al-Khiḍr in modern literature is productive and versatile.

Film is a medium that can be used to convey a message or story in audio and visual form. Film, which also functions as an art medium, can be used to communicate about a social phenomenon that occurs in society. This paper aims to examine social phenomena that occur in society and reflect on these things through the film "Luckiest Man on Earth" and how the inferiority complex affects the stories contained in this film. The fictional film "Luckiest Man on Earth" tells the story of a young man who works as an ojek at a tourism location in Indonesia and meets a woman of French descent. With Google Translate, they can communicate with one another, but this is used by the motorcycle taxi driver as material to show off to friends and relatives that he has a girlfriend of French descent. This film is produced based on the concept of an inferiority complex that is deeply embedded in Indonesian society.

Le récit enchâssé émerge comme concept au début du XXe siècle, à la faveur des travaux formalistes sur le recueil de nouvelles. Il ne se développe véritablement que dans les années soixante, sous la plume de Todorov et de Genette. Mais alors, il est moins étudié qu’effleuré. Aucune définition consensuelle ne se dégage chez les narratologues. On prête au dispositif une origine millénaire, sans bien expliquer la persistance intacte d'un procédé d'écriture depuis l'Inde ancienne. Le récit enchâssé a été davantage un mythe critique qu'un objet d'étude. Cette thèse se propose de reprendre la conceptualisation là où elle s'est arrêtée : à l'intuition que certains textes contiennent des récits en surplus. Par des décrochages typographiques, par un changement d'énonciateur, par une variation temporelle, par une série de marquages spécifiques, un récit peut être mis en relief dans l'espace textuel. L'enchâssement, alors, ne serait que le fait de cette mise en relief, qu'elle s'effectue ou non dans un texte littéraire, qu'elle porte ou non sur un texte narratif. Y a-t-il légitimité, dès lors, à parler d'un « récit enchâssé » ? A-t-il existé dans l'histoire une technique homogène de mise en relief d'un récit ? En posant cette question sur les récits courts du XIXe siècle (1800-1890), cette thèse s'efforce également d'expliquer l'apparition de la notion. Car c'est au XIXe siècle que, pour la première fois, le recueil de nouvelles est comparé à une fiction indépendante, en l'occurrence, une nouvelle. Analyser ce rapprochement permet de découvrir comment a été préparée la possibilité de penser le « récit enchâssé »
At the beginning of the twentieth century, embedded narrative emerged as a concept, thanks to the research that Russian formalists had carried out on a collection of short stories. But the category came into bloom only in the 1960s, under Todorov and Genette's pens. At that time though, the subject was broached rather than dealt with in depth. No definition based on consensus ever arose from narratology; and the seamless persistence of this narrative technique, dating back to Ancient India, has never been well accounted for. Embedded narrative has always been a critical myth rather than a subject to be studied. The aim of this dissertation is to start where the first tentative conceptualization stopped: the feeling that some texts do contain extra narratives. Inserted stories can be enhanced through typography layouts, changes of narratee, time-related alterations, or by sets of specific markings. Embedding might then mean emphasizing rather than inserting. Is it then legitimate to comment on 'embedded narratives' as such? Was there ever a consistent technique to emphasize narratives? By raising these issues, this dissertation aims at getting to the root of the notion, and addresses the topic by drawing on a large number of short stories published between 1800 and 1890. For during the nineteenth century short stories collections came for the first time closer to independent fiction, precisely to short story. Analyzing this rapprochement will enable us to discover how the very notion of 'embedded narrative’ could come up

Le jugement est partial quand on compare la nouvelle à d’autres genres littéraires notamment le roman et le conte. Les arguments avancés sont qu’elle est de forme courte et moins intéressante. Henri TROYAT affirme que : « Les contes de La Fosse commune sont des récréations. Je les ai écrits pour m’amuser. Et je me suis amusé ». Pourtant, au-delà du divertissement, l’honneur et l’honnêteté sont des sujets de prédilection pour la nouvelle française du XVIe siècle. Par conséquent, il est important de considérer les différentes conceptions historiques d’honneur et d’honnêteté parmi les membres de l’aristocratie, dans les avatars antérieurs et dans la trame narrative de la nouvelle pendant sa métamorphose. Les nouvelles évoquent des problèmes sérieux dans la psychologie des personnages, dans les valeurs morale et religieuse de la société. Il est également important de considérer les difficultés à cerner le sens des mots « honneur et honnêteté » ; car, il n’y a pas de corrélation entre leur sens et les comportements des personnages des œuvres de MARGUERITE DE NAVARRE, Bonaventure DES PÉRIERS et Pierre BOAISTUAU. Nous allons montrer l’écart entre l’idée que les hommes du XVIe siècle se faisaient de l’honneur et de l’honnêteté et la façon dont ils s’y conformaient. En outre, nous allons analyser les ambivalences de l’honneur et de l’honnêteté en tant que le vice et la vertu et de leur connotation discriminatoire selon le rang social et selon le genre
There is a bias judgment when we compare the novella (short story) to other literary genres such as the novel and the tale. Henri TROYAT states that, "The tales of La Fosse commune arerecreation. I wrote them for fun. And I had fun ". However, beyond entertainment, honor and honesty are subjects of preference for the sixteenth century French short stories. Therefore, it is important to consider the different historical conceptions of honor and honesty among the members of the aristocracy, in the earlier avatars and in the narrative framework of “novella” during its metamorphosis. Shorts stories evoke serious problems in the psychology of the characters and in the moral and religious values of the society. It is also important to consider the difficulties in defining the meaning of the words honor and honesty; for there is no correlation between their meaning and the behaviour of the characters in the works of MARGUERITE DE NAVARRE, Bonaventure DES PÉRIERS and Pierre BOAISTUAU. We will show the gap between the way men of the sixteenth century conceive honor and honesty and the way in which they conformed to them. In addition, we will analyze the ambivalences of honor and honesty as vice and virtue and their discriminatory connotation according to social rank and gender

Cette thèse se propose d'analyser le fantastique littéraire en France et en Roumanie par une méthode double : l'histoire des influences et des transferts culturels (approche diachronique) et l'étude de certains aspects communs aux textes fantastiques identifiés dans la poétique de la (dé)construction (approche synchronique).Le corpus comprend des contes fantastiques provenus des espaces littéraires du XIXe siècle français (Mérimée, Gautier, Maupassant, Villiers de l'Isle-Adam ou Barbey d'Aurevilly) et roumain (Mihai Eminescu, Ion Luca Caragiale, Gala Galaction et Mateiu Caragiale). Bien que certains récits de ces derniers dépassent de peu le cadre strictement temporel du XIXe siècle, le choix est motivé par un certain décalage temporel entre les deux littératures, par l'appartenance de ces écrivains à une première étape du fantastique littéraire roumain et, dans le cas de Mateiu Caragiale, par l'intertextualité explicite avec Le rideau cramoisi de Barbeyd'Aurevilly.L'étude prend comme fil conducteur l'idée de (dé)construction, prise non pas dans le sens philosophique de la méthode déconstructionniste conçue par Derrida, mais dans la lignée de la thèse formulée par Irène Bessière, notamment le double mouvement qui traverse le récit fantastique, la construction et la déconstruction d'univers.Dans la première partie, la (dé)construction est rapportée au niveau de l'onomastique du fantastique (histoire du mot et de ses dénominations), car le terme " fantastique " est associé aux récits d'Hoffmann dans la traduction fautive de Loève-Veimars et un discours théorique et critique est construit à partir de Charles Nodier. La (dé)construction est aussi envisagée du point de vue de l'identité du fantastique en tant que genre littéraire. D'un côté, le fantastique puise ses sources, surtout thématiques, à la matière des mythes, des textes religieux, des croyances populaires, des légendes, des idéologies, des progrès scientifiques, etc. De l'autre côté, le remaniement fantastique (sa poétique) consiste à construire un " rapport fantastique " entre le réel et les autres éléments généralement considérés comme surnaturels, invraisemblables ou impossibles donnés pourtant comme sérieux, perceptibles et donc possibles.La deuxième partie déroule un panorama d'histoire littéraire comparée franco-roumaine, où sont mises en question deux figures étrangères, Hoffmann et Poe, ainsi que les particularités de l'émergence du fantastique dans la littérature française et dans la littérature roumaine, liées au romantisme dans les littératures ouest-européennes, et au légendaire et au magique dans la littérature roumaine. On parle de (dé)construction des modèles étrangers - jeu de traduction chez Ion Luca Caragiale, imitation chez Nicolae Gane, etc. - et de construction d'un discours fantastique autochtone.La troisième partie analyse quelques aspects qui caractérisent la rhétorique du fantastique, en soulignant les procédés par lesquels l'art de la persuasion se manifeste paradoxalement tant comme garantie que comme sape des stratégies textuelles : la littéralisation des figures au niveau de la fiction ; l'hypervisibilité des figures (l'hyperbole, l'hypotypose) ; le résidu littéral du discours figuré en tant que principe de suggestion du surnaturel, l'objet en tant qu'indice réaliste et support des " déviations " fantastiques

Abstract:
The goal of this diploma thesis is to create an annotated Czech translation of a literary text. Specifically, the selected three short stories from the collection Ideoluzije (2015) by a Slovenian writer Jasmin B. Frelih. The stories chosen for translation are De Nachtwacht, Vrabci and Pritisk konca. The first part of the thesis briefly introduces the author and his work. The main focus of the work is the translation of selected short stories and creating a professional commentary. The theoretical-practical part deals with individual phenomena that may be problematic in translation, such as neologisms, vulgarisms, interjections, etc. The theoretical interpretation is supported by examples from the short stories. This thesis aims to clarify translation procedures and methods as well as to present solutions to the problems mentioned.

Abstract:
Abstract As part of the Monaco offshore urban extension project, Bouygues TP is in charge of design & build a maritime infrastructure as the first step of the six-hectare expansion of the city into the sea. This maritime infrastructure consists of a fill enclosed by a band of trapezoid concrete caissons and will serve as base for construction of the new residential area. The paper focuses on some of the problems which had to be solved: optimization of promenade level and wave absorbing chambers in conjunction with minimal reflection and safety related to overtopping, accounting for sea level rise and correlation between extreme waves and water levels. caissons and rubble mound foundation stability related to waves and seism, including extra seismic forces due to buildings considering the high reclamation height and the immediate proximity of building foundations. the way in which caissons representing nearly 80,000 m3 of concrete can be built in a floating and continuous manner via a caisson box (or "caissonnier" in French), within a particularly short time frame presence of a small craft harbor with shops along the quays, whose location was fixed for urbanistic reasons, which requested optimizations in detail of anti-overtopping devices as much as possible integrated in the urban context, need to convert a breakwater caisson into a low crested swimming pool caisson, with plexiglas windows exposed to wave slamming from outside, but also from inside due to overtopping impacts over the swimming pool basin. Ecodesign has been closely associated with hydrodynamic and coastal engineering, based on estimation of wave pressures and induced velocities in the different possible locations (chambers, walls, structures toes …). The eco-friendly development strategy is based on the wide-scale deployment of a range of 11 solutions which will be described (potential for caissons to be colonized, nursery function development, etc…). Moreover, posidonia transplantation has been done via concrete open boxes, whose stability under storm waves has requested CFD calculations to model local velocities and optimize their shape.
