Abstract:
The main aim in this paper is to create a friend suggestion algorithm that can be used to recommend new friends to a user on Twitter when their existing friends and other details are given. The information gathered to make these predictions includes the user's friends, tags, tweets, language spoken, ID, etc. Based on these features, the authors trained their models using supervised learning methods. The machine learning-based approach used for this purpose is the k-nearest neighbor approach. This approach is by and large used to decrease the dimensionality of the information alongside its feature space. K-nearest neighbor classifier is normally utilized in arrangement-based situations to recognize and distinguish between a few parameters. By using this, the features of the central user's non-friends were compared. The friends and communities of a user are likely to be very different from any other user. Due to this, the authors select a single user and compare the results obtained for that user to suggest friends.

Abstract:
The ever-growing quantity of audio-visual information accessible today may be effectively managed by recommender systems, which assist users in discovering new and interesting topics. An increasing number of customized suggestion apps have emerged on the World Wide Web in the last decade. Recommendation systems can’t function without precise behaviour modelling of users. The conventional wisdom about friend suggestion algorithms leaves out crucial user data, leading to a misleading portrayal of their actions. The common understanding of friend suggestions is inaccurate because it disregards crucial user information. Hence, this paper proposes that the Deep Learning-Based Media Content Recommendation System (DL-MCRS) improves efficiency and user satisfaction by integrating huge multi-source heterogeneity data and building more precise user and item models on social media platforms. The suggested method uses the semantic personalized recommendation system (SPRS) to bridge the gap between high-level semantic information and low-level media properties. The suggested system uses domain ontology to customise video recommendations to their interests based on a user’s past actions on the site. The experimental findings show that the suggested strategy outperforms the baseline methods concerning efficiency.

Abstract:
Implicit clusters are formed as a result of the many interactions between users and their contacts. Online social platforms today provide special link-types that allows effective communication. Thus, many users can hardly categorize their contacts into groups such as “family”, “friends” etc. However, such contact clusters are easily represented via implicit graphs. This has arisen the need to analyze users’ implicit social graph and enable the automatic add/delete of contacts from/to a group via a suggestion algorithm – making the group creation process dynamic (instead of static, where users are manually added or removed). The study implements the friend suggest algorithm, which analyzes a user’s implicit social graph to create custom contact group using an interaction-based metric to estimate a user’s affinity to his contacts and groups. The algorithm starts with a small seed set of contacts – already categorized by a user as friends/groups; And, then suggest other contacts to be added to a group. The result inherent demonstrates the importance of both the implicit group relationships and the interaction-based affinity in suggesting friends.

Abstract:
The higher educational institutions' students are familiar with technological advancement. As a terrible consequence, they will be trapped in incontrollable consumption by purchasing something they do not need. This circumstance cannot be separated from their classmate's trendy lifestyle and lures. This situation leads to poor organizing money. Besides, according to previous studies, this poor money management is usually affected by low financial literacy. Therefore, this investigation examines the influence of self-control and financial literacy on money management behavior. The population in this research consists of 1,226 active undergraduate students in the accounting and management departments from batches 2016 to 2021 in the business faculty at Maranatha Christian University. Based on the Slovin formula with a 5% fault boundary, the sample size is 302. Considering this situation, we use a stratified random sampling technique by treating the batches as strata. Then, we distribute the questionnaire to them. Unfortunately, only 94 students respond; the response rate is 31.17%. After analyzing their response by a structural equation model based on partial least squares, we conclude that self-control positively affects students' behavior in organizing their money. Unfortunately, financial literacy does not.

Abstract:
This study investigated conditions under which young men responded with reactance to the suggestion to reduce their alcohol consumption. In an experimental study, 84 young men (university students, mean age: 24 years) listened to a recorded telephone call and were asked to imagine that they themselves were the recipients of this call. In this call, either a girlfriend or a male friend suggested that the recipient of the call should reduce his alcohol intake that evening. In one condition, the suggestion was highly restrictive; in the other condition, the suggestion was framed in a nonrestrictive way. Perceived threat, negative thoughts, and feelings of anger after listening to the call were assessed. Further outcome variables were intention and perceived probability of complying with the suggestion. Participants felt more anger after hearing the highly restrictive suggestion and more threatened by the suggestion made by the girlfriend. Interaction effects emerged. Participants reported more negative thoughts and lower intention and perceived probability to comply when a highly restrictive suggestion was made by the girlfriend. The male friend’s highly restrictive suggestion resulted in a perceived probability of complying (54%) that was similar to the probability of the girlfriend’s nonrestrictive suggestion (55%). Women’s efforts to reduce their male partners’ alcohol consumption can result in boomerang effects. Male peers might be more effective in motivating other men to behave in a healthier way. These results support recent findings with regard to the potential of peer positive social control.

Abstract:
In recent times, there have been notable changes in cardiovascular medicine, propelled by the swift advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). The present work provides an overview of the current applications and challenges of AI in the field of heart failure. It emphasizes the “garbage in, garbage out” issue, where AI systems can produce inaccurate results with skewed data. The discussion covers issues in heart failure diagnostic algorithms, particularly discrepancies between existing models. Concerns about the reliance on the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) for classification and treatment are highlighted, showcasing differences in current scientific perceptions. This review also delves into challenges in implementing AI, including variable considerations and biases in training data. It underscores the limitations of current AI models in real-world scenarios and the difficulty in interpreting their predictions, contributing to limited physician trust in AI-based models. The overarching suggestion is that AI can be a valuable tool in clinicians’ hands for treating heart failure patients, as far as existing medical inaccuracies have been addressed before integrating AI into these frameworks.

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter investigates a series of recorded private conversations between noblemen at the time of the French wars of religion, suggesting how people talked to each other about religion during a war over religion. Circling around an enigmatic conversation in August 1562, the chapter engages with everyday talk as an engine of both discord and bonding via Gilles de Gouberville’s daily record of meetings with friends and neighbours. Reinburg’s contribution stresses the power of conversation in establishing one’s alliances, beliefs, and allegiances, and how recorded conversations reveal people’s thoughts about broader conflicts.

Abstract This chapter aims to provide insight into Chinese women's guimi travel, which typically refers to Chinese women's travel with their best female friends. With the rapid proliferation of online communities in China, travel blogs provide a wealth of data and create opportunities for conducting Internet-based research. Based on 25 travel blogs operated by Chinese female tourists who have engaged in guimi travel, a qualitative netnographic analysis was undertaken to explore the essence of the guimi travel experience, as described by Chinese women. This chapter contributes to existing theories of women's friendships by examining these relationships in the context of tourism. The findings of this chapter are considered through tourism and feminist lenses, suggestions for further research are made, and the theoretical and practical contributions are highlighted.

Abstract This chapter reports on the third co-creation project described in this book. The project was managed by two departments of Zaragoza city council: the Department of Elderly Care and the Technical Office of Participation, Transparency and Open Government. Several activities aiming to improve the lives older citizens have been conducted by the city administration since Zaragoza joined the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities. In a consultation process, older citizens had expressed a demand for safe and well-equipped outdoor spaces. Thus, the broad problem focus of this co-creation project was on the improvement of an age-friendly city infrastructure. The co-creation project covered six walks in three different districts. In each district, groups of six to eight older residents defined two relevant routes and collected information (problems and improvements) about them. The data was integrated in a collaborative digital map provided by the city’s Technical Office. The result of the project is an enhanced map service, which allows (older) citizens to report problems in the public (road) infrastructure and/or propose improvements. Their suggestions for improvements enter a list of citizen proposals for a participatory budgeting process.

The Afterword reflects on the editor’s personal and professional relationship with her mentor and friend, the author of Nancy Cunard: Perfect Stranger, Jane Marcus. Meeting in 2001 over discussions about Hope Mirrlees’s little known poem, Paris: 1919, published in 1920 by Virginia Woolf, Marcus pointed to the use of End Notes in the poem, a modernist signature usually attributed to T.S. Eliot’s The Waste Land. Mills uses Marcus’s suggestion about the generative nature of paratexts, raising more questions and leading to further avenues of inquiry, to the generative nature of their intellectual conversations, and to the afterlife of one’s research and scholarship, in general.

Abstract:
A brief history of declining interest in sculpture helps this chapter to contextualise why Joseph Epstein, Eric Gill and Henri Gaudier-Brzeska believed the only way forward for this art lay in a return to the ancient skill of direct-carving. Discussion of these sculptors’ relationship to direct-carving is related to Lawrence’s parallel ambition to ‘break down the boundaries between verbal and visual expression’ as evidenced by The Rainbow. Reviewing the sculptural efforts of Lawrence’s close friend, Mark Gertler, suggests how they impacted on Women in Love, through Lawrence’s depiction of the sculptor Loerke and the expression of ideas associated with Futurism, Deutscher Werkbund and Vorticism. This leads to the suggestion that the Vorticist sculptor, Gaudier, may have had more effect on Women in Love than has hitherto been recognised. The chapter concludes with evidence of Lawrence’s influence, primarily through Lady Chatterley’s Lover, on the sculptors Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.

Abstract:
Abstract A seminar on Dostoevsky’s anti-Semitism and its relation to the rise of Nazism prompts the narrator to read what Dostoevsky wrote about the Jewish question. He is shocked by the writer’s anti-Semitism, though he notices that he nevertheless affirms the possible brotherhood of Jews and Russians in principle. In the seminar itself, the speaker highlights both the explicit anti-Semitism of the Diary of a Writer and anti-Semitic elements in the novels; he also argues that Dostoevsky played a significant role in the formation of Nazi ideology. This is challenged by those attending the seminar, including the narrator’s friend Carl, who puts the view that literature is never a primary element in shaping societal movements. At the end of the seminar, the narrator is joined by Dostoevsky, who acknowledges his guilt but also pushes back against aspects of the views proposed by the speaker, ending with the suggestion that the narrator look at Solovyov’s views about Jewish–Christian reconciliation as a necessary precondition of God’s Kingdom, conceding that they may be correct.

Abstract:
Abstract Lighting and costumes for an opera or a play can suggest things never expressed by the actors. A film’s soundtrack can manipulate our emotions before, during, or even after an event on the screen. A Wagnerian leitmotif heard in the orchestra can expand on what a character is feeling or can put the lie to what he is actually saying. In this chapter we will consider expressing that which is verbally unexpressed. The previous chapter discussed bringing to life at the piano the things that are concretely expressed in the text: verbal structures, characters, tangible elements, textual blacks and whites. Some subjectivity was involved, but I would wager that most pianists—those intent on real collaboration in its fullest sense—would make very similar choices. In this chapter, however, we proceed to the world of implication, innuendo, inference, and suggestion. Everything is subjective here, and the score’s instructions often give us little of what we need. An active and fertile imagination is the collaborator’s best friend here.

Abstract:
<p>For thin-walled tubular members, the zinc coating applied during galvanization may enhance stiffness, thus positively impacting buckling behavior. This study describes the flexural buckling performance of high-strength steel cold-formed circular hollow sections (HSS CFCHS) observed by buckling test on Ø48.3 mm, t = 1.8 mm S960 under three conditions: non-galvanized, galvanized, and galvanized with subsequent zinc coating removal. Specimens were tested across three levels of non-dimensional slenderness. Results show that the zinc coating improves stiffness and modifies buckling behavior, complementing the reduction in residual stresses. The findings reveal higher load-bearing capacities for galvanized components, suggesting that current design assessments may be overly conservative by neglecting galvanization effects.</p>

Abstract:
With today’s growing restrictions in sources and chemical treatment, cooling water that has low corrosive potential is difficult to find. Today’s sources are more aggressive (corrosive) creating a greater challenge to the survival of tubing materials. Pitting and crevice corrosion have become much more common. This paper identifies and summarizes those changes, concerns, and provides suggestions on how a utility can prevent long-term problems. It will cover the water factors to consider and monitor, proper lay-up practices, and material selections based on cooling water chemistry and practices.

Abstract:
In 2019, the Gambling Commission announced a National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms. Underlying the strategy is the Framework of Harms, outlined in Measuring gambling-related harms: A framework for action. "The Framework" adopts a public health approach to address gambling-related harm in Great Britain across multiple levels of measurement. It comprises three primary factors and nine related subfactors. To advance the National Strategy, all componentsneed to be supported by a strong evidence base. This report examines existing research expertise relevant to the Framework amongacademics based in the UK. The aim is to understand the extent to which the Framework factors and subfactors have been studied in order to identify gaps in expertise and provide evidence for decision making thatisrelevant to gambling harms research priorities. A social network analysis identified coauthor networks and alignment of research output with the Framework. The search strategy was limited to peer-reviewed items and covered the 12-year period from 2008 to 2019. Articles were selected using a Web of Science search. Of the 1417 records identified in the search, the dataset was refined to include only those articles that could be assigned to at least one Framework factor (n = 279). The primary factors and subfactors are: Resources:Work and Employment, Money and Debt, Crime;Relationships:Partners, Families and Friends, Community; and Health:Physical Health, Psychological Distress, and Mental Health. We used Gephi software to create visualisations reflecting degree centrality (number of coauthor networks) so that each factor and subfactor could be assessed for the density of research expertise and patterns of collaboration among coauthors. The findings show considerable variation by framework factor in the number of authors and collaborations, suggesting a need to develop additional research capacity to address under-researched areas. The Health factor subcategory of Mental Health comprised almost three-quarters of all citations, with the Resources factor subcategory of Money and Debt a distant second at 12% of all articles. The Relationships factor, comprised of two subfactors, accounted for less than 10%of total articles. Network density varied too. Although there were few collaborative networks in subfactors such as Community or Work and Employment, all Health subfactors showed strong levels of collaboration. Further, some subfactors with a limited number of researchers such as Partners, Families, and Friends and Money and debt had several active collaborations. Some researchers’ had publications that spanned multiple Framework factors. These multiple-factor researchers usually had a wide range of coauthors when compared to those who specialised (with the exception of Mental Health).Others’ collaborations spanned subfactors within a factor area. This was especially notable forHealth. The visualisations suggest that gambling harms research expertise in the UK has considerable room to grow in order to supporta more comprehensive, locally contextualised evidence base for the Framework. To do so, priority harms and funding opportunities will need further consideration. This will require multi-sector and multidisciplinary collaboration consistent with the public health approach underlying the Framework. Future research related to the present analysis will explore the geographic distribution of research activity within the UK, and research collaborations with harms experts internationally.

Abstract:
The general objective of this study was to develop rationally designed mimetic antagonists (and agonists) of the PK/PBAN Np class with enhanced bio-stability and bioavailability as prototypes for effective and environmentally friendly pest insect management agents. The PK/PBAN family is a multifunctional group of Nps that mediates key functions in insects (sex pheromone biosynthesis, cuticular melanization, myotropic activity, diapause and pupal development) and is, therefore, of high scientific and applied interest. The objectives of the current study were: (i) to identify an antagonist biophores (ii) to develop an arsenal of amphiphilic topically active PK/PBAN antagonists with an array of different time-release profiles based on the previously developed prototype analog; (iii) to develop rationally designed non-peptide SMLs based on the antagonist biophore determined in (i) and evaluate them in cloned receptor microplate binding assays and by pheromonotropic, melanotropic and pupariation in vivo assays. (iv) to clone PK/PBAN receptors (PK/PBAN-Rs) for further understanding of receptor-ligand interactions; (v) to develop microplate binding assays for screening the above SMLs. In the course of the granting period A series of amphiphilic PK/PBAN analogs based on a linear lead antagonist from the previous BARD grant was synthesized that incorporated a diverse array of hydrophobic groups (HR-Suc-A[dF]PRLa). Others were synthesized via the attachment of polyethylene glycol (PEG) polymers. A hydrophobic, biostablePK/PBAN/DH analog DH-2Abf-K prevented the onset of the protective state of diapause in H. zea pupae [EC50=7 pmol/larva] following injection into the preceding larval stage. It effectively induces the crop pest to commit a form of ‘ecological suicide’. Evaluation of a set of amphiphilic PK analogs with a diverse array of hydrophobic groups of the formula HR-Suc-FTPRLa led to the identification of analog T-63 (HR=Decyl) that increased the extent of diapause termination by a factor of 70% when applied topically to newly emerged pupae. Another biostablePK analog PK-Oic-1 featured anti-feedant and aphicidal properties that matched the potency of some commercial aphicides. Native PK showed no significant activity. The aphicidal effects were blocked by a new PEGylated PK antagonist analog PK-dF-PEG4, suggesting that the activity is mediated by a PK/PBAN receptor and therefore indicative of a novel and selective mode-of-action. Using a novel transPro mimetic motif (dihydroimidazole; ‘Jones’) developed in previous BARD-sponsored work, the first antagonist for the diapause hormone (DH), DH-Jo, was developed and shown to block over 50% of H. zea pupal diapause termination activity of native DH. This novel antagonist development strategy may be applicable to other invertebrate and vertebrate hormones that feature a transPro in the active core. The research identifies a critical component of the antagonist biophore for this PK/PBAN receptor subtype, i.e. a trans-oriented Pro. Additional work led to the molecular cloning and functional characterization of the DH receptor from H. zea, allowing for the discovery of three other DH antagonist analogs: Drosophila ETH, a β-AA analog, and a dF analog. The receptor experiments identified an agonist (DH-2Abf-dA) with a maximal response greater than native DH. ‘Deconvolution’ of a rationally-designed nonpeptide heterocyclic combinatorial library with a cyclic bis-guanidino (BG) scaffold led to discovery of several members that elicited activity in a pupariation acceleration assay, and one that also showed activity in an H. zea diapause termination assay, eliciting a maximal response of 90%. Molecular cloning and functional characterization of a CAP2b antidiuretic receptor from the kissing bug (R. prolixus) as well as the first CAP2b and PK receptors from a tick was also achieved. Notably, the PK/PBAN-like receptor from the cattle fever tick is unique among known PK/PBAN and CAP2b receptors in that it can interact with both ligand types, providing further evidence for an evolutionary relationship between these two NP families. In the course of the granting period we also managed to clone the PK/PBAN-R of H. peltigera, to express it and the S. littoralis-R Sf-9 cells and to evaluate their interaction with a variety of PK/PBAN ligands. In addition, three functional microplate assays in a HTS format have been developed: a cell-membrane competitive ligand binding assay; a Ca flux assay and a whole cell cAMP ELISA. The Ca flux assay has been used for receptor characterization due to its extremely high sensitivity. Computer homology studies were carried out to predict both receptor’s SAR and based on this analysis 8 mutants have been generated. The bioavailability of small linear antagonistic peptides has been evaluated and was found to be highly effective as sex pheromone biosynthesis inhibitors. The activity of 11 new amphiphilic analogs has also been evaluated. Unfortunately, due to a problem with the Heliothis moth colony we were unable to select those with pheromonotropic antagonistic activity and further check their bioavailability. Six peptides exhibited some melanotropic antagonistic activity but due to the low inhibitory effect the peptides were not further tested for bioavailability in S. littoralis larvae. Despite the fact that no new antagonistic peptides were discovered in the course of this granting period the results contribute to a better understanding of the interaction of the PK/PBAN family of Nps with their receptors, provided several HT assays for screening of libraries of various origin for presence of PK/PBAN-Ragonists and antagonists and provided important practical information for the further design of new, peptide-based insecticide prototypes aimed at the disruption of key neuroendocrine physiological functions in pest insects.
