Abstract:
This study examines a model for domestic tourists exploring Terengganu. The Terengganu Tourism Department is tasked with increasing tourist numbers, enhancing their expenditures through heightened allure and superior services, creating an indelible experiential milieu, and establishing Terengganu as a prominent destination. However, recent statistics depict Terengganu as experiencing a diminutive influx of domestic tourists and corresponding tourism receipts compared to other states. In 2018, Terengganu ranked ninth in domestic tourist visitations and associated receipts. Hence, this study aims to ascertain the determinants influencing behavioral loyalty among domestic tourists towards Kuala Terengganu. Data collection transpired through an online questionnaire deployed via Google Forms, synchronized with the global advent of COVID-19, which precipitated ramifications across nations. Respondents included domestic tourists visiting Kuala Terengganu. Data analysis involved 201 respondents, using structural equation modeling. The empirical findings describe that the attractiveness of the destination substantiates a discernible impact on tourist satisfaction. Furthermore, the outcomes highlight that tourist satisfaction exerts a noteworthy influence on eWord-of-mouth (eWOM) and behavioral loyalty. The findings indicate that tourist satisfaction comprehensively mediates the relationship between destination attractiveness and both eWOM and behavioral loyalty. It asserts that Kuala Terengganu’s distinctiveness from competing Malaysian destinations is facilitated by destination attractiveness, involving recreational amenities, leisure facilities, infrastructural attributes, and overall appeal. Consequently, proficient promotional strategies can be devised by Tourism Terengganu, accentuating the advantageous and captivating features of Kuala Terengganu’s attractions. These aspects are strategically tailored to resonate with the cognitive and emotional assessments of domestic tourists, instigating a proclivity to recurrently choose Kuala Terengganu as their preferred travel destination.

Abstract:
The concern felt by Sultan Zainal Abidin III (1881-1918) (“the Sultan”) over the entry of a British agent in Terengganu pursuant to the agreement entered into between Terengganu and Great Britain on 22 April 1910 had led to the enactment of Itqân al-Mulûk bi Ta’dîl Al-sulûk, or the Law for the Self-Government of Terengganu, on 2 November 1911. The Sultan attempted to protect Terengganu from foreign interference despite having to abide by the terms of the said agreement, which required a British agent to be stationed in Terengganu. The establishment of the said law appears to be an attempt to maintain the dominance of the local government in Terengganu’s governmental system, and this move also affected its socio-economic development throughout the stated period. The interesting element about this law is the presence of a very strong Islamic influence, which shows that the Sultan strictly adhered to the teachings of Islam during his reign in Terengganu. This study aimed to analyse the extent to which the presence of British agents in Terengganu had influenced the actions and thinking of Sultan Zainal Abidin III in enacting and establishing Itqân al-Mulûk bi Ta’dîl Al-sulûk. It also aimed to examine how far Itqân al-Mulûk bi Ta’dîl Al-sulûk played a role in empowering the political and socio-economic sectors in Terengganu during the specified period and the extent to which the teachings of Islam embedded within it were used to protect and preserve the sovereignty of Terengganu against British intervention at the time. This research adopted a qualitative method that involved the collection and analysis of data from primary sources obtained from the Terengganu State Museum and the National Archives of Malaysia, such as the Manuscript of Itqân al-Mulûk bi Ta’dîl Al-sulûk, CO 840/1 (Terengganu Administration Report, 1910-1930), CO 840/2 (Terengganu Administration Report 1931-1940), The Terengganu Secretary of State File, and the Terengganu British Advisor File. In addition, secondary sources such as journals, books, chapters of books, and magazines were also used to further reinforce the study conducted. The findings proved that the enactment of Itqân al-Mulûk bi Ta’dîl Al-sulûk managed to fortify the political system in Terengganu, which projected a very strong image of Islam. In fact, it is this strengthening of the political system which led to the development of the economy, due to the availability of stable sources of income for the Malay farmers and female entrepreneurs at the time.

Abstract:
Government bodies play an important role in generating a balanced development of a state. In fact, the development of a society is also closely related to the systems and policies that have been established by a government body. This happens because the government body is one of the main agents and driving tools in changing society from a static and traditional to a more developed and progressive society. Therefore, this article aims to see the extent of the role played by government bodies such as Terengganu Town Council (Majlis Bandaran Terengganu), Terengganu Arts and Craft Society (TACS), Malayan Art and Craft Society (MACS), Malayan Agri-Horticultural Association (M.A.H.A), British Empire Exhibition (B.E.E) and the Trade and Industry's Office in helping the Malay enterprise and business activities in Terengganu from 1900 to 1941. This study used a qualitative method which had involved collecting and analysing data from primary sources obtained from the National Archives of Malaysia such as CO 840/1 (Terengganu Administration Report, 1910-1930), CO 840/2 (Terengganu Administration Report 1931-1940), Terengganu State Secretary File, and British Adviser Terengganu File. In addition, secondary sources such as journals, books, book chapters, and magazines were also utilised to further strengthen the study conducted. The results of the study found that the existence of various government bodies in Terengganu managed to play a significant role in developing Malay enterprises and businesses in Terengganu from 1900 to 1941.

Abstract:
This article is a preliminary study using systematic analysis of literature review for politics and election studies in Terengganu. Based on Table 1, the party that ruled Terengganu had changed thrice from 1959 to 2018. This started from the first general election until the 14th general election. At the beginning of 1959, Terengganu is governed by the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS; Parti Islam Se-Malaysia). Nevertheless, the state ruling was taken over by Perikatan or BN in 1964 to 1995 and was seized by PAS in 1999. In 2004, BN managed to occupy the government seat once more, but it lasted for only 15 years compared to the years before because, in 2018, PAS managed to win the hearts of the Terengganu people to rule the state back again. The purpose of this study is to identify the number of studies and research themes in the studies on politics and election in Terengganu. Apart from that, the voting pattern in Terengganu from 1959 to 2018 is also included as the basis of knowledge about the election in Terengganu. Abstract:
Every learning tradition began with a history, as it did with the study of Qur’anic tarannum (the study of the rhythmic recitations of the holy book). Based on the historical documents reviewed, it was found that no prior studies have been made specifically on the development of Qur’anic tarannum studies in Terengganu. This article, therefore, presents some of the contributing factors that have introduced the study of Qur'anic tarannum in Terengganu. The data comprised historical materials and interviews with some notable figures in the field of Qur’anic tarannum and 35 other Qur’anic reciters from the state of Terengganu. They were also past champions of the Qur’anic Recital Competition of Terengganu from 1960 . The study found that among the important factors and influences towards the spread of tarannum practices in Terengganu were the Arab traders, the governing institutions, the Middle East students, the roles played by the tarannum teachers and the public’s commitment at studying tarannum.

Abstract:
This study aimed to examine the extent to which industrial activities namely textile, copper and boat industries carried out by the Malay community in Terengganu from 1900 to 1941 were able to increase the income of theMalay community and the state itself. Many previous studies that had been conducted on Terengganu only focused on commercial economic activities such as mining, rubber cultivation and fisheries. However, how the changes and developments experienced by theMalay community in Terengganu stem from the development of industrial activities thatinvolved handicrafts entirely had been rarely studied. This study used a qualitative method that involved the collection and analysis of data from primary sources obtained from the National Archives of Malaysia such as CO 840/1 (Terengganu Administration Report, 1910-1930), CO 840/2 (Terengganu Administration Report 1931-1940), Terengganu State Secretary File and Terengganu British Adviser File. In addition, secondary sources were also used such as journals, books, book chapters and magazines to further strengthen the study conducted. The findings of the study found that the industrial economy from 1900 to 1941 was one of the most important activities in Terengganu along with the commercial economy such as mining, rubber cultivation and fisheries. In fact, the industrial activities carried out by the Malay community also contributed to the income of many entrepreneurs and increased the state's economic income at that time.

Abstract:
Terengganu has a large coastal and wetland area where it provides habitat for edible mollusc. The edible molluscs are one of the most important sources of animal protein for the local communities. The distribution of edible molluscs was studied in six districts of the Terengganu coastal waters between August 2020 and March 2022. In each district, samples were purchased from the wet market, fishing villages and roadside outlets every four months interval. A total of 1,043 individuals was observed and 23 species of edible molluscs were recorded from six districts of Terengganu representing 11 families. Bivalves were found to be dominated by 14 species from seven families. The family Cyrenidae (bivalve) was widespread in five districts where Geloina expansa, was recorded in almost all districts. Meanwhile, for gastropods, nine species from four families were found where Ellobiidae (gastropod) was dominant and the most common gastropod species was Faunus ater, which was found in four locations in Terengganu. These species have great commercial value in Terengganu districts as they are sought extensively as food by the locals and also represent one of their sources of financial survival, especially for those living near to coastal areas. This baseline study could serve as a future indicator for the sustainable management of fisheries resources and for further ecological studies.

Abstract:
The reign of Sultan Sulaiman Badrul Alam Shah (1920-1942) was a remarkable period in the history of Terengganu. Sultan Sulaiman not merely focused on the fishing industry, but recognised the importance of diversifying the economic activities of Terengganu, a state known for its primary coastal economic activities. The British Assistant Adviser posted in Terengganu, Major H.S. Peterson, confirmed in the early 1930s that the economic development of Terengganu had been proceeding smoothly. This situation indicated that the Sultan was aware of the importance of a more diversified economy to reduce dependence on a single industry for the sustainability of the state and its people. Hence, the aim of this article was to explore the extent of economic success in Terengganu during his reign in the 20th century. In addition, it assessed the development of the textile, copper, and boat industries and how Sultan Sulaiman’s involvement and actions established them as significant economic forces in Terengganu during the stated period. The study employed a qualitative method that involved the collection and analysis of data from primary sources obtained from the National Archives (Kew Garden), namely CO 840/1 (Terengganu Administration Report, 1920-1930) and CO 840/2 (Terengganu Administration Report, 1931-1940). The files of the Secretary State for Terengganu (1920-1942) were also used and obtained from the National Archives of Malaysia and the Terengganu Branch of the National Archives. Furthermore, secondary sources such as journals, books, book chapters, and magazines were used to corroborate the study. The research findings indicate that Sultan Sulaiman, despite being the son of Sultan Zainal Abidin III, successfully forged his own leadership identity and credentials. He even encouraged women to get involved in various economic fields at that time. Moreover, the education system, especially in the textile industry, was emphasised due to the interest of his queen, Tengku Ampuan Mariam, in the handicrafts produced by the people of Terengganu.

Abstract:
Terengganu Malay community’s response on the non-dominant political party other than UMNO and PAS are less encouraging. This can be seen based on the results of elections held in Terengganu. Even though other parties like Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) also participated and won several seats in elections in Terengganu, the support on the party is still inconsistent compared to UMNO and PAS. This is because the Malay community in Terengganu is not bound by any influential political party in determining their future. This type of political culture plays an important role towards the dynamics of Malay political culture in Terengganu from 1999 until the year 2018.Keywords: Political Culture & Malay Political Culture

Abstract:
In Southeast Asia, coastal dynamics are governed by a special equilibrium between northeast an southwest monsoons. In the context of sea-level rise and climate change, the monsoon regimes create an adaptation of the coastal dynamics. This situation gives rise to erosion phenomena along the coastline. However, public authorities have attempted to mitigate the problems of erosion by the construction of coastal defence structures. However, artificial structures can affect the wave regime, hydrodynamic circulation and sediment transport, thus reducing the ability of the shoreline to respond to natural forcing factors (such as with double monsoon season regimes) and also fragmenting the coastal space. The present thesis explores the problems of erosional phenomena, shoreline evolution and beach morphodynamics along the Kuala Terengganu shoreline on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, with the aim of understanding the natural versus anthropogenic factors. This study was conducted in three phases to address the following topics: i) shoreline evolution from 2006 to 2014; ii) mid-term surveys (bi-monthly) involving data collection from July 2013 until June 2015 and; iii) short-term surveys (twice daily) with data collection (Topographic, hydrodyanamic and sediment transport measurments) during northeast and southwest monsoons. Based on a morphodynamic model for simulating seasonal processes, erosion is found to dominate most of the stations during northeast monsoons, while accretion or beach recovery is observed during southwest monsoons

Abstract:
This chapter focuses on Terengganu and seeks to explore its local food and tourism development as well as marketing and branding initiatives. Within the context of local food, tourism, and destination marketing and branding studies, scholars continuously contest the truth of food as the core traveling purpose among tourists to visit a particular tourist destination. It was found that, recently, many tourist destinations have utilized local food as part of marketing and branding initiatives to position and stimulate appealing image in every tourists' eyes and mind. Therefore, using the case of Terengganu in Malaysia, this chapter explores and discusses the details of local cuisine and tourism employed by Tourism Terengganu (i.e., the state tourism board – STB) to market and brand the state worldwide. Terengganu is located in between two states (i.e., Kelantan and Pahang) on the east coast region of West Malaysia. Keropok lekor, nasi dagang, satar, akok, nasi kerabu, laksam, ketupat sotong, and lempeng nyior are among local food specialties in Terengganu. These dishes are often being displayed and marketed worldwide in various tourism marketing and used as promotional tools to speak about Terengganu and its tourism identity. Results from archival documents analysis have found that Tourism Terengganu employed various types of marketing and branding initiatives to promote Terengganu's local food and tourism industry domestically and internationally. All of these create and establish local food and tourism identity of Terengganu as part of destination branding efforts.

From 1891 to 1895, the Pahang War disrupted Britain’s enclosure of territory on the Malay Peninsula. Fought in response to an uprising by up to 700 rebels in Pahang, the war was not only a means for controlling damage to British interests but also an arena for a subtle, geopolitical contest between Britain and Siam for the Siamese tributaries, including Kelantan and Terengganu. During this period Terengganu, sheltered by legal and territorial constructs that kept the Siamese frontier open until 1902, was becoming a hub for perang sabil (‘holy war’) against British and Siamese ‘competitive colonialisms’. Known to be providing discursive, human, and other political resources to the Pahang rebels, Terengganu came to be portrayed as a ‘wild’ and ‘benighted’ place by Pahang’s British Resident Hugh Clifford, an important broker of the colonial race-thinking deployed as a means for controlling and taming the frontier.

Abstract:
Nowadays, Malaysia has gained more popularity among sojourners either as a destination to continue their study or as a good place to work. However, there are few studies regarding food neophobia among sojourners and information on the subject is limited. The objectives of this study are to determine the level of food neophobia among sojourners in Terengganu, to compared between food neophobia score and social-demographic profile, to examine association of familiarity and willingness-to-try local foods among people with different levels of food neophobia and to examine the relationship between the food neophobia scores and the willingness-to-try new foods and same food neophobia score with familiar foods. A total of 152 questionnaires were distributed to international students from Middle east. The findings reported average food neophobia scale among sojourners in Terengganu was 40.15 ±12.21. There were no significant differences between food neophobia and gender but a significant difference between residential area (urban and rural), and the length of stay in Malaysia. Moreover, there were significant associations between food neophobia and familiarity towards Malaysia’s local cuisines. A significant association between food neophobia and willingness-to-try Malaysia local foods was also recorded. The impact of the findings on respondents was also discussed.

Abstract:
Tourism is one of the sectors that has been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, governments around the globe have taken measures to ease the effect of the resulting economic downturn on households and businesses in a bid to prolong survivability of the public. In the longer run, this tourism industry will desperately need to adapt to a post-pandemic “new normal” to sustain the income of its tourism players and operators. The alternative to coping with the new normal is to migrate from the classical model to an advanced or high-technology approach. “High-Tech” devices or tools can play an important role towards the recovery of the tourism industry following the upheaval caused by the pandemic. The new standard operating procedures (SOPs) to mitigate the spread of the disease, health consciousness and better hygiene protocols, and as well as social distancing are likely to remain in place for the foreseeable future. Touchless services delivery and investments in digital technology could facilitate an industry-wide recovery. The use of modern technology is quickly becoming a necessity for many destinations in order to stay competitive and attractive in the new norm of the tourism industry. A new form of technology that may be suitable for the tourism industry to use to regain some of its former glory is that of virtual and or Augmented Reality (AR). The aim of this paper is to give industry players an insight into the basic design of a mobile AR Tourism application for the state of Terengganu in Malaysia. Several interesting places will be selected for AR Tourism research and practice. The AR Tourism app will be designed to serve a specific purpose for the user, while multi-language functionality, ease-of-use and the capability to personalise the app are among the main requirements that need to be considered in attracting tourists and encouraging regular use among travel enthusiasts.

Abstract:
Sports globally are also affected and impacted because of COVID-19. Time sports although often associated with healthy physical activity and its ability to improve the ability to improve health, these sports activities are seen as more dangerous if continued. Global concerns trigger a disturbing world life phenomenon in all aspects of life especially to the countries hit by this epidemic. This limitless and borderless COVID-19 pandemic forced various major world sporting events to be postponed. Sports are all physical activities performed to express feelings and convey value through the physical behavior as well as to test the skills of an individual with other individuals who venture into the same field of sports through competition based on the rules that have been set. As a clearer understanding, a pandemic occurs when many individuals can be infected with a disease easily and the disease can spread from one individual to another continuously without hindrance around the world and have a huge impact on sporting events.
