Abstract:
Frontal bone fracture is a common facial bone fracture which commonly involved the outer table part. Most of the time outer table fracture is treated conservatively. However, when there is involvement of orbital wall fracture, as well as entrapment of extraocular muscle, surgical intervention via open reduction and internal fixation is needed. We described a case of outer table frontal bone fracture with left orbital roof fracture complicated with superior rectus muscle entrapment which was successfully treated via open reduction and internal fixation.International Journal of Human and Health

Abstract Objective We present our experience in the management of frontal bone fractures using the previously described radiologic classification of frontal bone fractures. Methodology A retrospective study was conducted, which reviewed the medical records and computed tomographic (CT) scan images of patients with frontal bone fracture from January 2016 to February 2019. Patients with complete medical records and a follow-up of minimum 1 year were included in the study. Demographic details, mechanism of injury, associated intracranial injuries, maxillofacial fractures, management, and complica

Abstract Background: Traumatic frontal sinus injury is not rare. High-impact craniofacial traumas such as high-velocity road traffic accidents, especially with anterior blunt impact result in frontal bone fractures. Such comminuted fractures can result in depressed fragments that may cause further damage to dura and even underlying brain tissue resulting in devastating complications. Thus urgent management of such fractures is of crucial importance. Cranialization is a method to isolate the frontal sinus preventing complications and improving cosmesis. A 61-year-old Chinese man presented to the emergency department with a 1-day history of painful swelling of the right eyelid with loss of vision. He had been treated earlier for an isolated pathological fracture of the T7 vertebra from plasmacytoma. Computed tomography was suggestive of superior orbital hematoma with bony erosion of the inner and outer tables of an isolated frontal cell, and urgent drainage of the hematoma resulted in relief of the pain and improvement of the vision. A formal orbitotomy was performed to evacuate the hematoma, followed by combined endoscopic sinus surgery and e

Frontal bone osteomyelitis is a rare clinical disease which occurs as a result of frontal sinusitis, penetrating injury on head, post-operative complication after sinus surgery and hematogenous spread from distant site. Early diagnosis, appropriate surgical debridement and antibiotic are keys to prevent from life threatening intracranial complications. We report a 63 years old male patient with osteomyelitis of outer cortex of frontal bone. Abstract Fractures of the frontal bone are relatively infrequent maxillofacial injuries. Various classifications and treatment modalities ranging from simple conservative observation to complex surgical intervention are available in the literature. Treatment of frontal bone fractures hinges on numerous aspects such as involvement of frontal sinus, presence of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, degree of displacement of anterior and posterior table fracture, and presence of nasofrontal duct obstruction. Various complications may arise if there is a delay in treatment or improper treatment is given

Frontal sinus fractures are usually associated with traumatic brain injury and nasoorbitoethmoidal fractures. Much of the available evidence is retrospective, and management algorithms vary. In general, nondisplaced fractures without nasofrontal outflow tract (NFOT) obstruction may be managed with clinical and radiographic follow-up whereas fracture displacement, NFOT obstruction, and persistent CSF leaks are indications for operative management. The bicoronal incision and bifrontal craniotomy allow for proper access to the frontal sinus. If there is NFOT obstruction, the sinus should be crani
