This thesis analyzes the potential for producers in Virginia to successfully participate in the market for berry crops, which include strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and other novelty berries. A survey of current berry crop producers in Virginia is used to gain insight into the supply-side of the market, and a series of personal interviews with direct market berry crop producers and buyers from retail, wholesale, and processor outlets are conducted to assess the demand-side of the market. Abstract:

Abstract:
While skilled labour shortages are common in many countries, including South Africa, mainly due to a skills mismatch, the undersupply of unskilled labour was less expected, especially in developing countries with high unemployment. The thesis utilises data on perceived worker undersupply on selected citrus farms in the Sundays River Valley (SRV), located in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, collected in 2013, to analyse why unemployed residents, surprisingly, do not fill up vacancies on farms. In contrast to other labour markets, farm employment is not restricted by educational levels

Abstract:
The maintenance and improvement of quality of Pinot Noir table wines has been highlighted as a key factor in the development of the Tasmanian wine industry. This study was designed to further investigate the cultural and environmental impacts on the composition of Pinot Noir fruit in a cool climate. Over three vintages, 2005, 2006 and 2007, the industry practice of pre-veraison leaf removal in the fruiting zone is investigated. Defoliation was shown to delay ripening and this study provides evidence that the environmental influence over the entire season may have more impact on fruit composit

However, most farmers failed to grasp the related sales message, so they can only passively accept the market price reaction, often resulting out of proportion between income and expenditure, and even feeling comfortable if income and expenditure can balance. In order to allow farmers to better understand market trends and grasp the changes in prices of

碩士
國立虎尾科技大學
工業工程與管理研究所
94
Sales forecast can help decision-makers not only to predict the market demand, but also to provide the basis of the optimum product policy. In the thesis, we studied fruit sales forecast in the Taiwan market. Four kinds of major fruits, including watermelon, bananas, pineapples and pears, were discussed. There are six proposed forecasting models: the first model is the seasonal variations model; the second one is the GM(1,1) grey forecasting model; the third one is the grey seasonal variations model; the fourth one is residual-modified seasonal variation
