Abstract:
Sodium selenate is an important inorganic compound, but lacks reliable and accurate physico-chemical and spectral characterization information. This article described the in-depth physicochemical, thermal, and spectroscopic characterization of sodium selenate using various analytical techniques. The powder X-ray diffractogram showed well-defined, narrow and sharp peaks indicating that sodium selenate is crystalline in nature. The crystallite size was found to be in the range of 28.75 to 49.97 nm. The average particle size was found to be of 3.93 (d10), 14.44 (d50), and 40.65 (d90) µm wit

The development of new storage materials will facilitate the use of hydrogen as a major energy carrier in near future. In hydrogen economy, chemical hydrides such as NaBH4, KBH4, LiH, NaH have been tested as hydrogen storage materials for supplying hydrogen at ambient temperature. Among these chemical hydrides, sodium borohydride seems to be an ideal hydrogen storage material because it is stable under ordinary conditions and liberates hydrogen gas in a safe and controllable way in aqueous solutions. However, self hydrolysis of sodium borohydride is so slow that it requires a suitable catalyst

The goal of this research is to make chitosan beads that have been treated with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) to remove chromium (Cr) from an aqueous solution effectively. The successful synthesis of the SDS-chitosan was proven through characterization, which were carried out using by scanning electron microscopy–energy dispersive X–ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The adsorption of Cr on the SDS material was investigated by varying experimental conditions such as pH, contact time and adsorbent dosage. The ma

This study describes the development and characterization of novel high-temperature thermal storage media, based on inclusion of transition metal chlorides in the potassium-sodium chloride eutectic system, (K-Na)Cl (melting temperature of 657°C, latent heat of 278 J/g). At the melting temperature of (K-Na)Cl, infrared (IR) radiation can play a major role in the overall heat transfer process — 90 percent of spectral blackbody radiation falls in the range of 2 to 13 μm. The authors propose inclusion of small amounts (less than 0.2 wt %) of IR-active transition metal chlorides to increase radiati

In semiinsulatling (SI) semiconductor materials, light-elements such as carbon act as important role to sustain semiinsulating of electric conduction. They also make electric conduction in SI semiconductor materials. Since there are at least a few elements related to SI electric conduction mechanism, it is difficult for electric conduction measuremenr to reveal the element states in SI semiconductor materials. Therefore, other methods for electric conduction analyses, such as optical method of infrared (IR) absorbance spectroscopy, are required. Since IR spectroscopy can yield different inform

Due to the high annual production of rice, rice straw has become a numerous agricultural waste product. We propose in this paper to produce oil sorbent for oil-water separation from waste rice straw fibers. Rice straw cellulose were extracted using 5 wt.% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) at 90 °C for 2 hours. After washing with water, rice straw fibers were tested with litmus paper until pH was neutral. A 20-minute boil was applied to sticky rice flour and water. A strainer was placed on the boiling sticky rice flour. Rice straw fibers were delicately spun, placed in the sieve, and dried at 60 °C for 2
