New analogs of the serum thymic factor, (Phe-NH210)-FTS, (Gln1, Phe-NH210)-FTS, and (des Glp1, Phe-NH210)-FTS were synthesized. Their biological activities were evaluated in the recovery assay of T lymphocytes. The activity of (Phe-NH210)-FTS is comparable to the activity of FTS. Nonapeptide (des Glp1, Phe-NH210)-FTS shows the highest activity so far observed. Analog (Gln1, Phe-NH210)-FTS is an inhibitor.

To understand the interplay between AGN and SF multi-wavelength approach is needed, which allows us to trace the different gas components. AbstractDeveloping and maintaining Feature Models (FMs) can become an errorprone activity. In this chapter, we focus on different aspects of analyzing relevant properties of FMs. Such an analysis helps to increase the maintainability and correctness of FMs and also makes them better manageable in industrial settings. Analysis operations are discussed in detail and also presented formally. In addition to analysis operations, we also show how to automatically determine erroneous elements of an FM that have to be adapted or deleted in order to restore the intended FM semantics.

Abstract In the oil and gas industry, internal corrosion of metallic components and piping is caused by the associated water flow onto the surface along with the crude oil. Once established, the corrosion characteristics of the produced water changes due to corresponding change in the fluid properties. By continuously monitoring the corrosion rates and type of corrosion attack on the standard corrosion coupons it is possible to get an indication of the corrosion mechanism operating within different water streams. The corrosion mitigation measures also can be selected and applied based on the p

Abstract An online probe for simultaneously monitoring sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and corrosion rate was previously demonstrated. This online probe has four sensor elements: carbon steel working electrode (WE), stainless steel counter electrode (CE), saturated calomel electrode (SCE) reference electrode (RE), and enzyme electrode (EE). For monitoring SRB activity, the combination of EE, CE, and RE was used and for monitoring corrosion rate, the combination of WE, CE, and RE was used. 1 he EĽ was based on a biosensor in which sulfide oxidase (SO) was the sulfide sensing element. Abstract Reactive metal sulfides introduce safety and reliability risks to hydroprocessing (and other) refinery units during outages. Self-heating or pyrophoric catalysts are a concern, as is stress corrosion cracking of sensitized stainless-steel equipment open to air. A nitrite-based aqueous treatment has been developed and deployed in the field, which addresses both catalyst pyrophoricity and polythionic acid (PTA) SCC of equipment. This paper will present case studies where refineries have relied solely upon the nitrite-based oxidizing solution for PTASCC mitigation. Prior published labora

Economic policy decision-making requires constantly assessing the state of economic activity. However, this is not an easy task: official figures have significant lags, and the timely information is usually partial and has different frequencies. This paper applies two types of short-term forecasting methodologies (Factor-MIDAS and DFM) for Colombian economic activity involving information with mixed frequencies. We present a heuristic process to select relevant variables, and we evaluate the proposed models' fits by comparing them with traditional forecasting methodologies. Overall, DFM and Fa

A literature review on the current industry understanding of mid-wall cracking and its detection was conducted. A summary of key factors influencing mid-wall cracking and modern integrity management approaches for the phenomenon are summarized. Based on the literature review and subject matter expert interviews, gaps in the published industry knowledge were identified. These gaps will be used to drive work in the direction of backfilling the valuable information that may be used to mitigate the onset of mid-wall cracking and to identify the presence of mid-wall cracking so that the threat can

The Board of Executive Directors is interested in exploring ways for the IDB to continue to reduce costs and increase efficiency. As part of OVE's work program and budget discussion for 2016-17, the Board requested that OVE include in its 2016 program a review of the Bank's administrative spending, with a goal of helping the Board and management identify opportunities for cost reductions. This exercise is not meant to be an evaluation per se, but rather an activity that fits more broadly under OVE's oversight mandate. As a result of the widespread increase in consumer fraud and scams, several countries are looking to establish or strengthen cross-bank, cross-platform, and cross-industry utilities to counter fraud and scams on the national level and to augment traditional efforts at individual financial institutions1. However, questions quickly arise about how data on consumers and their payments can and should be shared across institutions. Some data sharing across Financial Institutions (FIs) is crucial for fighting consumer fraud and scams as it enables organizations to track fraudulent funds across the p
