Li, Xiaoyun, and 李瀟云. "Late quaternary climate and sedimentary history derived from N-alkanes, alkenones and bulk organic carbon analyses in Fujian coast, China." Thesis, The University of Hong Kong (Pokfulam, Hong Kong), 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10722/207998.

Abstract:
Late Quaternary is an important period for paleoclimate study due to the boom of human civilization and thus its influence on climate conditions of the present interglacial period. In this study, a 52 m long borehole was drilled in a coastal embayment of Fujian, China, within which a thick marine layer from 16.05 to 32.60 m is found. Bulk organic geochemical analyses, containing total organic carbon content (TOC), carbon isotope ratio (δ13C), alkenones and n-alkanes, were analyzed for the whole core. Organic carbon isotope ratios (δ13C) of the sediment layers vary between -22.1‰ and -32.9‰, with higher values in the two marine sequences and lower in the two aquatic sequences. In the thick marine sequence, the δ13C is relatively stable, and it becomes gradually enriched from the base upwards and depleted rapidly at the top, indicating a full cycle of marine transgression and regression. The n-alkanes exhibit a similar trend, with several indexes, i.e., maximum concentration (Cmax), carbon preference index (CPI), average chain length (ACL), terrestrial-aquatic ratio (TAR), Paq and C31/(C29+C31). These results suggest the control of EAM and sea-level change in the sedimentary processes. Analysis on alkenones shows sea surface temperature (SST) variations as well as sea-level oscillations in the study site.

Abstract:
This thesis examines Buddhist rituals conducted (mainly) by monks for the wellbeing of deceased lay-persons in contemporary Fujian province in Southeast China. Research was conducted within the Bristol project on 'Buddhist Death Rituals in Southeast Asia and China' and sponsored by the AHRC. Based on fieldwork conducted from March-December 2008 in the three urban areas of Xiamen and Quanzhou in Southern Fujian, and the capital Fuzhou in Northern Fujian, and on written materials, such as Buddhist scriptures, monastic public announcements and ritual manuals, I describe and analyse a variety of post-burial rites. They range from small scale rites of offering to nourish and help the deceased during the liminal period of forty-nine days after death and rebirth, to one-to-three day funeral chaodu 'rites of ferrying across' sending off the departed to a better rebirth, ideally held before the end of the forty-nine days liminal period, to the large-scale public rituals of universal liberation held during the so-called 'Ghost Month' and the crown of Buddhist rituals the shuilu fahui or 'Grand Dharma Assembly of Liberation of all Land and Water Beings' .. The research presented here is more like a snapshot or survey of contemporary Buddhist rituals and practices for the dead in Southeast China than an in depth anthropological analysis; my hope is, through this overview, to provide inspiration and basic material for future research .

Augustin-Jean, Louis. Paris 10, 2000. http://www.theses.fr/2000PA100062.

Abstract:

Lin, Chen-Yuan. "Le rituel taoïste du sud-est du Fujian." Paris, EPHE, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014EPHE5033.

Full text
Abstract:
What is Daoism? This thesis interprets Daoism from the point of view of its rituals or, more precisely, by looking at Daoism’s core ritual, the Jiao or communal Offering. Basing myself primarily on a Daoist tradition transmitted in the beginning of the nineteenth century from southeastern Fujian (Zhao’an County) to northern Taiwan, the so-called “double gate of the Dao and Methods,” I examine such basic questions as the formation, development, and transformations of this local Daoist tradition, the historical origins and distinctive sectarian particularities of its Jiao, and the mutual interactions between this tradition and local society and between it and the ritual traditions of other localities. Most of the materials studied, some of them newly discovered, come from fieldwork. Using the methods of ethnography and the study of historical texts, I provide a thorough description of local Daoism in northern Taiwan. The aim is to produce a basic picture of one form of local Daoism and, by comparing it with the Daoism of southern Taiwan and Zhao’an, to explore in it both what is typical of Daoist ritual generally and what is particular. In the end, what is real, living Daoism? The main results of my research are as follows: 1) Through a comparative study of the “double gate” in Zhao’an and Taiwan, I discovered significant changes in the meaning of this key term. 2) At the same time, the ritual manuscripts of the “double gate” Offering and the secret instructions associated with them have remained stable. 3) Local society turns to Daoism for its rituals, not its doctrines. The two-gate Offering provides profound insight into the true nature of Daoism

We study conditions for existence and non existence of global solutions for a nonlinear coupled parabolic systems and for parabolic problem with variable exponent. In both cases, we consider an arbitrary domain of RN with smooth boundary and Dirichlet condition on the boundary. As consequence of these results is possible to determinate the Fujita's exponent of ones.

Abstract:
Relying mainly on field materials and historical documents, this study examines the tradition of Daoist ritual masters; one of the liveliest religious traditions in South China since the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It is a tradition of exorcism which borrowed many elements from Tantrism; but it is also well integrated into Daoism while revealing subtle relations between Daoism and popular religion. From an ethnographic perspective, ritual masters are an important group of ritual specialists in western Fujian in Southeast China. From a historical point of view, among contemporary ritual masters, we can find many elements that date back to antiquity. Thus the making and mastery of soldiers of the invisible world for exorcising evil beings to save the people is a characteristic feature. The tradition of ritual masters has played an important role not only in the daily life of the people, but also in regional socio-cultural processes. In this regard, the present work studies a myth of “magic warfare” between ritual masters and evil spirits that has found its place in a context of ethnic conflict in western Fujian. It also examines a cult of ritual masters which gave the opportunity for different groups to express their understandings regarding legitimacy, as well as ordination rituals and rituals to hide human souls from evil spirits, that is, life rites which contribute also to the construction of community life

Abstract:

Abstract:
Many U.S. communities experience tornadoes each year, causing a significant number of deaths and injuries. Proper community preparation and response can help reduce human suffering and psychological trauma that occur following a tornado. However, according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology most U.S. communities in tornado-prone areas are unprepared for a violent tornado, and there are few national, state, or local tornado-related definitions, standard or code to guide preparations. Social constructionism was the underlying theory of this qualitative study. The purpose of this study was to improve tornado preparations by examining the experiences of community leaders following a rare category 5 tornado occurring in Joplin, Missouri in 2011. The key research question considered the experiences of Joplin community leaders following the tornado. Twelve community leaders, 4 females and 8 males participated in individual face-to-face interviews, and were asked about preparations, emergency responses, trauma services and rebuilding. Giorgi's descriptive phenomenological method was used to analyze data. Findings include specific recommendations to improve community preparation, emergency response, trauma service and rebuilding. Community leaders experienced difficulty in coordinating appropriate resources to meet individual victim needs. They described ways in which the community was unprepared and changes that could be made in the future. This study may contribute to positive social change by providing communities with knowledge about tornado preparation and response to improve networks, reduce fatalities, injuries, trauma effects, and property damage in tornado prone areas.

Lim, Sau-Ping Cloris. "Nanyin musical culture in southern Fujian, China : adaptation and continuity." Thesis, SOAS, University of London, 2014. http://eprints.soas.ac.uk/20292/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis is a study of the musical genre nanyin, one of the oldest and most prestigious living folk traditions preserved in southern Fujian (Minnan), China. As an emblem of Minnan ethnic identity, nanyin is still actively practised in the Southeast Asian Fujianese diaspora as well. Based on ethnographic investigations in Jinjiang County, this research explores multifaceted nanyin activities in the society at large. The importance of the genre is manifested in its active role in political, socio-economic and cultural spheres, its adaptations to state cultural ideologies in the ebb and flow of different political periods, and its continuity despite changing transmission modes. This thesis consists of eight chapters. Chapter 1 offers an introduction to the genre and centres on an examination of published literature relevant to my approach and my fieldwork objectives. Chapter 2 gives an overview of nanyin and its pivotal role as musical source to other folk performing arts in southern Fujian. Chapter 3 focuses on the historical roots of nanyin, its musical identity, and prestige and gender shifts. Chapter 4 traces the processes of social and cultural transformation and illustrates their effects on shaping musical changes in nanyin in the 20th and 21st centuries. Chapter 5 investigates contemporary nanyin performance contexts in Jinjiang, including examination of how ritual practices are situated in the present state ideology. In Chapter 6, I draw on my field observations to discuss the methods of nanyin transmission in formal and informal contexts. With Westernization and urbanization since the late 19th century, institutionalization of folk music has become common, and nanyin is no exception. Chapter 7 looks at music as cultural capital and discusses diasporic support and government involvement as factors in the preservation of nanyin. Chapter 8 summarizes and reflects on my findings with reference to my research queries, and suggest how these findings supplement existing nanyin studies.

Abstract:
Yokohama-Tokyo is the biggest city in Japan. It has been developed faster than people expected. People's regular lives are based on the city transportation schedules. An egalitarian system dominates Japanese people's behavior and thought starting before birth. Because Japanese society revolves around a strict education structure, its environment becomes really stressful and competitive for everyone. Buildings are too tall for people to realize scale of themselves and the city. This urban environment has been affect people to lose their perception of their sense and of the world. Architectural layering can and does influence humans. My project will use specific architectural layering devices, such as colors, texture, light, physical structure to create an environment which will stimulate person's mind and imagination. This unique environment will stimulate a person's sense and the world and will rejuvenate the individual as he or she reflects what life could be beyond ordinary life. Architecture is not only about how to create an essential space for reasons, but also about what happens to the world after architecture influences people with the environment.

Abstract:
Merchants, seafarers, pirates: the maritime societies of Southeast Fujian played a crucial role in maritime activities during the Ming Dynasty. Regarding the traditional discourse, scholars have discussed the elimination of wokou and local petty pirates during the late Ming period. This study proves otherwise via an extensive examination of the governance and management of the maritime societies implemented by the Ming regime and its local officials. This study considers how the local officials formed their judgements on the cases of seafaring population by examining court opinions and other historical materials. This study also reveals the identities and the cultural habits of the maritime societies. The findings show that the identities of the societies mentioned above were not formed in an arbitrary manner. In addition, wokou and local petty pirates still posed a great threat to the Southeast coast of Fujian during the closing decades of the Ming Dynasty and that the severity of pirate issues was mainly related to cultural habits of the maritime societies and the regime's governance.

Abstract:
From the establishment of the Ming to the fall of the Qing (1368--1911), the social and cultural scene of the Chinese countryside was greatly transformed. Lineages became the dominant social organization in many areas. Local temples became a familiar part of the rural landscape. Local culture was increasingly exposed to the influence of regional culture and gentry culture with the proliferation of market towns, the development of the printing industry and the rise of literacy. By investigating the history of ritual specialists and their rituals in a sub-county area in southeast China, this thesis shows how these social and cultural transformations took place and how the local population experienced them. Lisheng or masters of ceremonies, the focus of this thesis, played and still play an important role in the local social and symbolic life. Either along with or in the absence of other ritual specialists, they guided the laity through ritual procedures to communicate with ancestors, gods, and the dead. These rituals, and also the related liturgical texts, were the outcome of social and cultural transformations in the late imperial period. Through a detailed discussion of the history of the three important local institutions that were closely related to lisheng and their rituals, namely, lineages, community compacts, and temple networks, the thesis shows the limitations of the elitist interpretation of late imperial cultural transformations. Cultural integration and gentrification were without doubt important aspects of these processes. However, both may have oversimplified the complexity of the processes and exaggerate the influence of high culture. Cultural hybridization, the process in which elements from different cultural traditions were synthesized into a new, constantly changing cultural mosaic, provides a multipolar, interactional, and thus more complex approach to our understanding of cultural processes in late imperial China.

Abstract:
During the past decade, China has shown unusual enthusiasm for gaining World Heritage status in anticipation of a substantial rise in tourism profits. However, World Heritage recognition is not always beneficial to heritage sites. Such recognition not only attracts tourist flows and creates potential development opportunities; it also poses threats for heritage conservation and increases the social contradictions and cleavages in such sites. This research examines the relationship between heritage conservation and tourism via the case study approach. The target case for analysis is the vernacular Hakka heritage tulou sites in the Chinese province of Fujian. Combined research methods comprising in-depth interviews and questionnaire surveys among representatives of key stakeholder groups were adopted to examine local tourism development from a variety of perspectives. On-site participant observations and secondary archival research collection were employed as supplementary methods. The stakeholder analysis framework was adopted and modified to examine stakeholder engagement in tulou heritage tourism. Three key stakeholder groups were the focus of investigation: the local government, local residents and domestic tourists. Exploration of their roles in tourism development revealed an imbalance in the partnership between the three groups, which may have consequences for sustainable such development. The investigation was then extended to such secondary stakeholder groups as the central government, tourism entrepreneurs, UNESCO, tourism planners and scholars, the mass media and inbound tourists. The involvement of each group is herein analysed to generate a stakeholder map of tulou tourism. The findings show that heritage tourism development is usually accompanied by tensions and conflicts among economic, cultural and political goals. The partnership between three key stakeholder groups is imbalanced, and consequently reforce the dominance of government over tulou residents and tourists in heritage tourism contexts. Only when this triangular partnership achieves balance can tulou heritage tourism achieve sustainable and healthy development. It is suggested that stakeholder collaboration is great need in order to achieve sustainable tourism development. In sum, this thesis applies stakeholder analysis into heritage tourism. The research findings herein contribute useful insights for future tourism development and have important policy implications for tourism management. Besides policy implications, this research has some theoretical contributions to heritage tourism literature as it modifies stakeholder framework for future tourism studies.

Abstract:
Fujian was a backward and barren region before Tang dynasty. However, it experienced rapid economic growth during Tang-Song period (A.D. 607-1279) which led it to be one of the most prosperous regions in China. A large number of empirical research accounted for the growth and high prosperity of Fujian in this period, most of which were conducted in a qualitative approach while in-depth quantitative analysis still remains inadequate. Moreover, the investigation is mostly confined in certain high-growing areas and failed to provide a complete picture of regional interactions within Fujian. As those studies rarely focused on economic perspectives, this leaves much room for further exploration. In this study, both quantitative and qualitative analyses were emphasized and their consistency was examined in order to compose a more realistic picture of Fujian’s economy. Numerical data recorded by the government or intellectuals which was used in this study for quantitative measure was verified and, if necessary, rectified to provide an accurate explanation for the development of Fujian. Qualitative-wise, literatures, official documents and poems written by individuals who have visited or served in the Fujian region, as well as the written record from official documents of local or regional government were also the fundamental sources of this research. It was noticeable in the study that the continuous growth of economic status of Fujian is attributed to the success in the transformation of its economy from agricultural self-sustainable to export-based with a high dependence on overseas trading. However, this change in the mode of economy was brought about by the pressure of the continued influx of refugee during the instable period in Tang-Song since the population was unable to survive solely by food farming. The reliance of sea transport in Fujian was also a determining factor which favored the growth of the coastal area. Though the development of Fujian is related to the growth of overseas trading, the growth was imbalanced. Coastal areas, where higher degree of agglomeration of economic activities was attained, enjoyed a higher prosperity than inland regions. Prosperous economic activities in the coastal areas also revealed an expanding influence to the nearby regions which cope was in line with the growth pole theory in a certain extent. Furthermore, the growth of certain industries in continental areas was restricted or even prohibited by the inappropriate measure and policy imposed by the government. Until the end of Song dynasty, no improvement in the imbalance situation was found and no appropriate measure has been taken by the government. This research demonstrated that the imbalanced regional growth of Fujian stemmed from the change in the mode of economy of Fujian. Moreover, though southern Fujian manifested its importance as a core engine of the whole regional growth, it also showed economic similarities with the upper coastal region. Thus, in terms of regional economics, investigation on coastal area was undervalued when compared with that of the southern part.

Abstract:
This thesis is a comprehensive study of the grammatical system of Shaowu, a Sinitic language spoken in northwestern Fujian province in southern China. After a brief introduction of the geography, history and demography of Shaowu city, we first analyse various classification criteria for Shaowu’s genealogical positioning within the Sinitic family, a subject debated by Sinitic linguists for many decades. We use the linguistic data collected in Shaowu city during a decade of fieldwork (2009-2019) to examine the composition and main aspects of Shaowu, using arguments from relevant linguistic theories and corroborated by the typological features of neighbouring Sinitic language groups. We then break down Shaowu’s linguistic system into seven parts and carry out detailed analyses of the following: (i) phonetics and phonology, (ii) nominal structure, (iii) predicate structure, (iv) clausal structure and (v) complex sentences and clause-binding, as well as presenting (vi) a mini lexicon, and (vii) samples of transcribed narratives. We show that the specificities of Shaowu can be attributed to its unique location at the crossroads of migration pathways throughout its history, all of which makes Shaowu a highly hybrid language in terms of its phonology, lexicon and grammar. In particular, we notice strong influences from Min, Gan, Hakka, Wu groups, as well as Mandarin, which is the official language of the country. The result of this linguistic medley is reflected, for instance, in the multiple grammatical functions of polysemous Shaowu morphemes and in its hybridised or juxtaposed syntactic constructions, revealing the existence of various strata from different Sinitic groups, features which have been assimilated over time by Shaowu speakers and gradually integrated into the language. In addition, we demonstrate that Shaowu is unique in, for instance, its pronominal system, of which the first, second and third personal pronouns are etymologically mysterious; its numeral-classifier-noun constructions employ different numerals ‘one’ in given syntactic environments; among other unique traits that Shaowu possesses. Through this language documentation, we wish to contribute in conserving Shaowu, nowadays mainly spoken by the local population over 60. Shaowu, which vehicles a rich cultural identity of its own population, deserves to be recognised as a regional language in China. In over a thousand sample sentences presented in this grammar, the reader can catch a glimpse of Shaowu’s local customs, traditions, religious rituals and historical events. We hope that our work will benefit communities of Shaowu speakers and linguists who wish to conduct future research on this language, and to showcase to the world a multifaceted and variegated linguistic landscape of China that is rich in diversity and variations

The work aimed to study the effects of ultrasound as a pretreatment on convective drying of Fuji apple, about the loss of water, loss of solid, effective diffusivity of water, drying time, color and enzymatic activity of polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase. From the results obtained, it was determined the best condition for replacement of the natural sugars of the fruit by stevia (no-calorie sugar). There was loss of water, solids loss, 85% increase of the effective diffusivity of water, 45% reduction in drying time, a 39% reduction of the color changes and reduction in enzymatic activity of peroxidase and apple PPO Fuji . Set up as best condition for replacement of natural sugars stevia by one where the fruit was sonicated for 20 minutes in water and fruit ratio of 6:1 (w / w). The use of stevia as a non-caloric sugar substitute for the natural sugars of Fuji apple, along with the sonication process, generated a product with the final energy value 12% lower than the fresh fruit, with a recovery time of the initial sweetness of the fruit estimated 13 second sonication in a solution of 10% stevia. Thus, the sonication figure as an alternative technology for obtaining dried Fuji apple with reduced drying time, low energy, low color shift and reduced enzymatic activity of polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase.

Abstract:

Using 1991-2003 yearly statistical data from 66 counties in China’s Fujian province, we examine the relationship between GDP/capita levels and the rural-urban income gap, to see whether there exists any statistical relationship between these variables, and if such a relationship bears resemblance with the Kuznets’ “inverted U” hypothesis, predicting inequality to first rise, and then fall, as economic development proceeds. Our results point in the opposite direction; the income gap falls at the early stage of economic growth, but rises again as growth proceeds. This is the opposite of a Kuznets curve. In addition, the income gap is smaller in counties with access to coast, rivers, and highways and a higher proportion of illiterate. Moreover, the income gap is larger in counties with rugged terrain and a higher proportion of ethnic minorities.

This work was conducted to identified the best conditions of conservation (temperature and atmosphere composition) for apples cultivars Fuji, Fuji Suprema and Fuji Kiku. The experiment consited of the following treatments: storage at -0,5ºC without atmosphere modification (RA); 1kPa of O2+<0,5kPa of CO2 at +0,5ºC; 0,8kPa of O2+<0,5kPa of CO2 at -0,5ºC; 1,2kPa of O2+<0,5kPa of CO2 at -0,5ºC; 1kPa of O2+ 2kPa of CO2 at -0,5ºC. The experimental arragment was completely radomized with 4 replicates of 23 fruits. Fruit quality was evaluated after 8 months of cold storage and after 7 days of shelf life at 20ºC. After 8 months of cold storage, and 7 days of shelf life at 20ºC, the fruit firmness, solids soluble concentration (SSC); tritable acidity (TA); totals polyphenols; fruits with diseases and physiological disorders; respiration and ethylene production were evaluated. At harvest the colour of the skin; reductor sugars; anthocyanins and vitamine C were evaluated moreover the variables listed before. The Fuji Suprema cv. had maximum value of anthocyanins and parameter a* of colour measurment. The Fuji Kiku cultivar showed the higher levels of firmness, SST, AT and vitamine C. Before the cold storage and shelf life period, the treatments 1,2kPa of O2 + < 0,5kPa of CO2, and 1kPa of O2 + 2kPa of CO2 showed the best results in relation of the quality especially in deleyed softening in Fuji. The CA treatments preserved the firmness in the other cultivars. SST were no afected by the AC treatments while AT were preserved in this storage conditions. The 1kPa of O2+ 2kPa of CO2 showed the lowest values of respiration and ethylene production. The Fuji cultivar and their mutant Fuji Kiku were sensible to the higher levels of CO2 (2kPa), evidencied for the most incidens of internal breakdow. The total polyphenols stained high and increase in some CA treatment for all the cultivars. No difference beteween -0,5 and + 0,5 º C, of temperature in relation of the quality, in the 1kPa of O2 + < 0,5kPa of CO2 for any of the cultivars evaluated were found.

Wang, Guangyu. "Integrated watershed management : China-wide analysis and a case study in the Min River Basin, Fujian, China." Thesis, University of British Columbia, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/2429/13749.

Abstract:
China’s watershed management policy and its forest tenure have undergone remarkable changes since the devastating floods of 1998. The government has launched key national programs and forest policy reforms, such as large-scale plantation and reforestation, logging bans in natural forests, land ownership reforms, and comprehensive flood control systems. The scale and investment of these programs are already producing tangible benefits to forest cover, the forest industry and rural livelihoods, yet the transition of China’s forestry sector to a sustainable operation remains in doubt. Watershed issues are complex and multidimensional. Forest management was for a long time viewed as contributing to environmental protection. However, forestry can be both positive and negative. Sustainable forest management is critical for forest-dependent communities in a forest-dominated watershed such as that of the Min River. The research presented here uses the Min River Watershed (Fujian, China) to examine aspects of watershed sustainability. Several topics are examined, including the effects of conventional forest practices on land degradation; the current state of bamboo forest resources and management in the watershed and the role of the bamboo forest industry in social development, economic growth and ecosystem protection; the impact of infrastructure development on soil erosion; patterns of land-use change in the Min River over the last 20 years using Landsat imagery; and public perceptions of watershed management in the watershed. This work has been placed into a broader context by examining current forest policies and their relation to environmental protection programs in China. Particular emphasis has been placed on the evaluation of forest policy and national programs to combat flooding. Watersheds are holistic systems where social, cultural, economic and environmental issues interact. Forestry is only one of several factors affecting watershed sustainability. Watershed management is a complex, dynamic and continually improving process. It needs to bring together personnel from diverse disciplines, to integrate data from multiple dimensions and to develop a comprehensive management tool that will enable managers, stakeholders and third party interest groups to work together more effectively in solving watershed problems.

In this study, we used the mitochondrial COI gene to examine the phylogenetic and population genetic structure of the genus ,Neocaridina,27 site in the 9 river systems and Kinmen and Xiamen regions of Fujian, from China, in addition, according to the river system and regional groups, it is divided into Jiulong River, Mulan River, Hanjiang River, Minjiang River, Jinjiang River, Dongxi River, Pearl River, Yangtze River, Huanggang River, Jinmen and Xiamen. A total of 334 samples were used and there were 48 haplotypes. In the results of the phylogenetic analysis, there were five species, Neocaridina palmata、Neocaridina davidi、Neocaridina ketagalan、Neocaridina heteropoda,Neocaridina sp. was not confirmed, respectively. The main population is N.palmata,so we used 197 samples of N.palmata.There are 30 haplotypes,Haplotype diversity = 0.825,Nucleotide diversity = 0.00395, Fu’s Fs =–15.725***,Tajima’s D =–1.54469,High level of Hd,low level of Nd and neutral test were negative, which means that populations had expanded, this result also be supported by Mismatch distribution analysis. Pairwise FST estimates show that the SSS at Dongxi is extremely high differentiated from all other river systems, but the differentiation of some ethnic populations in other river systems is relatively low, indicates that N.palmata can communicate across river system barriers. In the AMOVA analysis, there no obvious genetic differences among groups and among population within groups , and the variation was mainly within populations. There is no obvious grouping between the haplotypes of the Minimum spanning network. We used 74 samples of N.davidi.There are 8 haplotypes,Haplotype diversity = 0.670,Nucleotide diversity = 0.00437, Fu’s Fs =1.580,Tajima’s D =–0.19360. The haplotypes of the Minimum spanning network are geographically separated by several geographical branches, the island group (Kimmen Island KM and Xiamen Island WSL), the coastal group (Jinjiang AX, HM and Mulan River MU, LH), the inland group (Minjiang River SC, WY and Yangtze River SK), respectively.Because N.davidi is a common species in the aquarium market, and N.davidi is not continuously distributed, it is speculated to be caused by external migration.

This paper studies the shaping of lineage consciousness in Ming Qing southern Fujian. Several issues are focused in this study: First, why were lineage organizations in Ming Qing southern Fujian so strong? and what were their specialities? Second, how would lineage handle various problems when the principle of respecting the ancestors (ching tsung) didn’t achieve the purpose of collecting the agnates (shou tsu)? Third, in case the interests of lineage didn’t conform with the principles of Neo-Confucianism or the purposes of the government, what would happen to them? and which one would hold the domination? Lineage organizations often constructed and showed their glorious history by choosing worthy or valued members as their leaders, treating people with scholarly honors or an official rank with preference, and connecting themselves to famous persons. By doing these, they could gather the identity of lineage members, and ensure their existence and prosperity. Threatening from the external environment not only brought a crisis to lineage members, but also made lineage organizations more strengthened. Especially in struggling for resources, people in southern Fujian often obtained and occupied resources by the power of lineage organizations to ensure that they could have an advantageous position in economics or politics. When these interests were invaded by other lineage organizations, lineage members would gather together to defend themselves. This often led to conflicts and fights among lineage organizations. In Ming-Qing dynasty, the interactions of lineage with the government were not simple. Lineage organizations could decide for themselves and act according to their own interests. Unavoidably the behaviors of some lineage organizations might damage the stability of the government or the society, such as resisting taxes or opposing commands from the government. Although lineage organizations could also help the government to preserve its stability, their ultimate goal was to keep the survival of their organizations. In fact, lineage organizations had an active position in their interactions with the Qing government, and wasn’t simply the vassal of the government.
