Abstract:
AbstractWe carried out the first seeing measurements at Dome Fuji in the 2010–2011 austral summer. From these observations, we found that the summer seeing at Dome Fuji was 1.2″ (mean), 1.1″ (median), 0.83″ (25th percentile) and 1.5″ (75th percentile), respectively. We also found that the seeing changed continuously and had a minimum around 0.7″ at ~18:00 hours daily. We compared the seeing with some weather parameters obtained from the 16 m mast, and found that the seeing had good correlations with atmosphere temperature and wind shear. These results suggest that the seeing is degraded by turbulence near the surface boundary layer. Because the data were obtained only over a short duration in summer, the general characteristics of Dome Fuji's seeing could not be evaluated. We plan to observe the seeing in winter with a stand-alone DIMM telescope. This new DIMM, which we named the Dome Fuji Differential Image Motion Monitor (DF–DIMM), will be installed at Dome Fuji in January 2013.

Abstract:
The co-combustion characteristics of Fujian anthracite with two biomasses (i.e. Cunninghamia lanceolata) and Mycorrhizal plants in different proportions were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis. The result showed that first, the co-combustion processes of Fujian anthracite with the two biomasses ( Cunninghamia lanceolata and Mycorrhizal plants) proceeded in three stages, separation and combustion of volatiles, combustion of fixed carbon in the biomass, and combustion of fixed carbon in Fujian anthracite. Secondly with increasing proportion of biomass, the co-combustion of Fujian anthracite with Cunninghamia lanceolata and Mycorrhizal plants shifted to a low-temperature zone, with a lower ignition temperature, shortened burnout time, and growth of both combustibility index ( Ci) and comprehensive combustion index S. Finally, at different mixing proportions, the comprehensive combustion index S during co-combustion of FW with Mycorrhizal plants is always larger than that during co-combustion with Cunninghamia lanceolata; therefore, FW and Mycorrhizal plants exhibit superior comprehensive co-combustion performance to FW and Cunninghamia lanceolata. Analysis of various parameters pertaining to combustion performance shows that the ignition and combustion performance of Fujian anthracite was improved as long as the Fujian anthracite was mixed with around 20% biomass.

Abstract:
This paper is concerned with the relationship between the industry structure and discipline structure of higher education in Fujian province of China. It draws on the data about the industry structure from the Fujian Statistical Yearbook (2005-2012) and the data about the discipline structure from Fujian Education Statistical Yearbook (1949-2012). After correlation analysis and comparison analysis between the industry structure in the GDP value and the labor in Fujian Province from 2005-2012 and the discipline structure in Fujian’s universities and colleges from2005-2012, this article concludes that the industry structure decides the discipline structure of higher education in a district and the discipline structure also affects the industry structure, and for the universities and colleges in Fujian Province, they should pay more attention to the development of engineering programs, increase the enrollment of them and relatively decrease the enrollment of the art students.

Abstract:
The physical and mechanical properties of coral sand are quite different from those of common terrestrial sands due to the special marine biogenesis. Shaking table tests of three-story structures with nine-pile foundation in coral sand and Fujian sand were carried out in order to study the dynamic response characteristics of pile-soil-structure system in coral sand under earthquake. The influence of shaking intensity on the dynamic response of the system was taken into consideration. The results indicated that the peak value of the excess pore pressure ratio of coral sand was smaller than that of Fujian sand under two kinds of shaking intensities; moreover, the development speed of excess pore pressure ratio of coral sand was smaller than that of Fujian sand. The liquefaction of coral sand was more difficult than Fujian sand under the same relative density and similar grain-size distribution. The horizontal displacement, settlement, column bending moment, and pile bending moment of coral sand were smaller than those of Fujian sand, respectively. The magnification effect of column bending moment of buildings in coral sand was less than that in Fujian sand with increasing shaking intensity. This study can provide some supports for the seismic design of coral reef projects.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The H3N2 influenza A/Fujian/411/02-like virus strains that circulated during the 2003-2004 influenza season caused influenza epidemics. Most of the A/Fujian/411/02 virus lineages did not replicate well in embryonated chicken eggs and had to be isolated originally by cell culture. The molecular basis for the poor replication of A/Fujian/411/02 virus was examined in this study by the reverse genetics technology. Two antigenically related strains that replicated well in embryonated chicken eggs, A/Sendai-H/F4962/02 and A/Wyoming/03/03, were compared with the prototype A/Fujian/411/02 virus. A/Sendai differed from A/Fujian by three amino acids in the neuraminidase (NA), whereas A/Wyoming differed from A/Fujian by five amino acids in the hemagglutinin (HA). The HA and NA segments of these three viruses were reassorted with cold-adapted A/Ann Arbor/6/60, the master donor virus for the live attenuated type A influenza vaccines (FluMist). The HA and NA residues differed between these three H3N2 viruses evaluated for their impact on virus replication in MDCK cells and in embryonated chicken eggs. It was determined that replication of A/Fujian/411/02 in eggs could be improved by either changing minimum of two HA residues (G186V and V226I) to increase the HA receptor-binding ability or by changing a minimum of two NA residues (E119Q and Q136K) to lower the NA enzymatic activity. Alternatively, recombinant A/Fujian/411/02 virus could be adapted to grow in eggs by two amino acid substitutions in the HA molecule (H183L and V226A), which also resulted in the increased HA receptor-binding activity. Thus, the balance between the HA and NA activities is critical for influenza virus replication in a different host system. The HA or NA changes that increased A/Fujian/411/02 virus replication in embryonated chicken eggs were found to have no significant impact on antigenicity of these recombinant viruses. This study demonstrated that the reverse genetics technology could be used to improve the manufacture of the influenza vaccines.

Abstract:
Sustainable development appears to be the theme of our time. To assess the progress of sustainable development, a simple but comprehensive index is of great use. To this end, a multivariate index of sustainable development was developed in this study based on indicators of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To demonstrate the usability of this developed index, we applied it to Fujian Province, China. According to the China SDGs indicators and the Fujian situation, we divided the SDGs into three dimensions and selected indicators based on these dimensions. We calculated the weights and two indices with the entropy weight coefficient method based on collecting and processing of data from 2007 to 2017. We assessed and analyzed the sustainable development of Fujian with two indices and we drew three main conclusions. From 2007 to 2017, the development index of Fujian showed an increasing trend and the coordination index of Fujian showed a fluctuating trend. It is difficult to smoothly improve the coordination index of Fujian because the development speeds of Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) were low. The coordination index of Fujian changed from strong coordination to medium coordination from 2011 to 2012 because the development speed of the environmental dimension suddenly improved. It changed from strong coordination to medium coordination from 2015 to 2016 because the values of the development index of the social dimension were decreasing. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first SDGs-based multivariate indices of sustainable development for a region of China. These indices are applicable to different regions.

Full text
Abstract:
It is very important to confirm and understand the genetic background of cultivated plants used in multiple applications. The genetic background is the history of crossing between maternal and paternal plants to generate a cultivated plant. If the plant in question was generated from a simple origin and not complicated crossing, we can easily confirm the history using a phylogenetic tree based on molecular data. This study was conducted to trace the origin of “Tottori Fujita 1gou” and “Tottori Fujita 2gou”, which are registered as cultivars originating from Phedimus kamtschaticus. To investigate the phylogenetic position of these cultivars, the backbone tree of the genus Phedimus needed to be further constructed because it retains inarticulate phylogenetic relationships among the wild species. We performed molecular phylogenetic analysis for P. kamtschaticus, Phedimus takesimensis, Phedimus aizoon, and Phedimus middendorffianus, which are assumed as the species of origin for “Tottori Fujita 1gou” and “Tottori Fujita 2gou”. The molecular phylogenetic tree based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and psbA-trnH sequences showed the monophyly of the genus Phedimus, with P. takesimensis forming a single clade. However, P. kamtschaticus and P. aizoon were scattered in the tree. It was verified that “Tottori Fujita 1gou” and “Tottori Fujita 2gou” were embedded in a clade with P. takesimensis and not P. kamtschaticus. Therefore, origination from P. takesimensis was strongly supported. Based on these results, molecular phylogenetic analysis is suggested as a powerful tool for clearly tracing the origin of cultivated plants.

Abstract:
Landslide disasters are the most frequent geological disasters in Fujian Province. They are also the type of geological disasters that cause the most serious economic and population losses each year. This study uses the fuzzy mathematics method to carry on the hazard assessment of landslide disaster in Fujian Province, in order to explore the mechanism of the landslide disaster, and provides the reference for the construction land expansion in Fujian Province. The calculation results show that landslide disasters in Fujian Province have a high correlation with external forces, that is, long-term precipitation and short-term strong precipitation are likely to trigger landslide disasters. Among the internal stress factors, the correlation between the occurrence of landslides and slopes is the highest, and the probability of landslides occurs in areas with steep slopes. The evaluation results show that the areas with high landslide hazards are mainly distributed in the central region of Fujian Province. From the remote sensing images, it can be seen that most of the dangerous areas are in rapidly developing cities, and their vegetation coverage is relatively low, and the environment is greatly affected by humans.

Abstract:
Land surface temperature (LST) is a key parameter of land surface physical processes on global and regional scales, linking the heat fluxes and interactions between the ground and atmosphere. Based on MODIS 8-day LST products (MOD11A2) from the split-window algorithms, we constructed and obtained the monthly and annual LST dataset of Fujian Province from 2000 to 2015. Then, we analyzed the monthly and yearly time series LST data and further investigated the LST distribution and its evolution features. The average LST of Fujian Province reached the highest in July, while the lowest in January. The monthly and annual LST time series present a significantly periodic features (annual and interannual) from 2000 to 2015. The spatial distribution showed that the LST in North and West was lower than South and East in Fujian Province. With the rapid development and urbanization of the coastal area in Fujian Province, the LST in coastal urban region was significantly higher than that in mountainous rural region. The LST distributions might affected by the climate, topography and land cover types. The spatio-temporal distribution characteristics of LST could provide good references for the agricultural layout and environment monitoring in Fujian Province.

Abstract:
AbstractSimple sequence repeats (SSR) and random amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD) molecular markers were used to assess the genetic diversity of 80 isolates of Phytophthora infestans in potato (Solanum tuberosum) from Fujian, Heilongjiang, Hebei and Inner Mongolia Provinces in China. Polymorphism was identified by 13 SSR primers and 14 RAPD primers in the isolates of P. infestans in potato. A total of 76 bands were amplified by SSRs, with the percentage of polymorphic bands (PPB) being 78.9% and the similarity coefficient ranging between 0.00 and 0.42. A total of 189 bands were amplified by RAPDs, with the percentage of polymorphic bands being 95.2% and the similarity coefficient ranging between 0.04 and 0.66. Analysis of genetic diversity showed that there exists higher genetic variation in the Fujian population in comparison to the populations of Heilongjiang, Hebei and Inner Mongolia. Nei's genetic identity analysis indicates that the genetic similarity between populations of Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia is the highest and that between Fujian and Hebei is the lowest. A cluster analysis revealed that isolates from Fujian, in the south of China, are distantly related to those from Heilongjiang, Hebei and Inner Mongolia in the north, and the Fujian population is distributed among more groups than the other three, exhibiting a higher genetic diversity.

Abstract:
This paper contains two results on Hodge loci in $\mathsf{M}_{g}$. The first concerns fibrations over curves with a non-trivial flat part in the Fujita decomposition. If local Torelli theorem holds for the fibers and the fibration is non-trivial, an appropriate exterior power of the cohomology of the fiber admits a Hodge substructure. In the case of curves it follows that the moduli image of the fiber is contained in a proper Hodge locus. The second result deals with divisors in $\mathsf{M}_{g}$. It is proved that the image under the period map of a divisor in $\mathsf{M}_{g}$ is not contained in a proper totally geodesic subvariety of $\mathsf{A}_{g}$. It follows that a Hodge locus in $\mathsf{M}_{g}$ has codimension at least 2.

Abstract:
In this paper, we establish the blow-up theorems of Fujita type for a class of exterior problems of nonlinear diffusion equations subject to inhomogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. The critical Fujita exponents are determined and it is shown that the critical curve belongs to the blow-up case under any nontrivial initial data.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article considers the impact on southern Fujian of the trade with and migration to the Spanish Philippines by examining the links of the Chinese there with their native places, particularly in the half century after the resumption of Chinese maritime trade in 1684. To understand the local history of Minnan, it is necessary to look both at the extensive network of Minnanese in Southeast Asia (Nanyang) and China, and at the important social and economic distinctions between Zhangzhou and Quanzhou prefectures in Fujian.

Abstract:
The polysaccharides were isolated from the abalone Haliotis discus hannai Ino cultivated from Qingdao and Fujian, and their proliferation activity on HepG2 cell was assessed. The monosaccharide composition of the abalone polysaccharides from Qingdao and Fujian was different, which might be related to their different geographical location and breeding conditions. The proliferation activity of abalone polysaccharide from Qingdao was better than that from Fujian. AAP, AVAP I and AVAP II were further isolated from the abalone polysaccharide from Qingdao, the cell proliferation activity of AVAP I and AVAP II was better than AAP, which might be depended on their monosaccharide composition. Our study would provide preliminary data for the high value utilization of abalone polysaccharides.

For a variety of reasons, still hotly debated by social anthropologists and social historians, both Guangdong and Fujian have been home to many large tightly-organized lineages since at least the 17th century. For a variety of reasons, overseas Chinese emigration in the pre-1949 period was also more prevalent in Guangdong and Fujian than in other Chinese provinces.

Abstract:
We first provide a weighted Fourier multiplier theorem for multilinear operators which extends Theorem 1.2 in Fujita and Tomita (2012) by usingLr-based Sobolev spaces (1<r≤2). Then, by using a different method, we obtain a result parallel to Theorem 6.2 which is an improvement of Theorem 1.2 under assumption (i) in Fujita and Tomita (2012).
