Full textA challenge during construction is drying of construction moisture in the building's concrete slab. If the drying is delayed, the flooring can’t be applied at the right time, but forcing the process is not an option, because of the risk of moisture damage during the operating phase. Crucial to the planed drying is that the climate in the building is favorable for the drying process. In order to control the drying climate the company is conducting an extensive work by measuring, where data logs at different locations in the building records air temperature and relative humidity. Along with the trend measurements of moisture levels in the concrete slab, the idea is that the data series should provide a picture of how the drying progresses. The difficulty with drying climates is that the subject in many respects is abstract and theoretical, because the parameters that describe the drying climate are continuously changing. If the collected data should add value to the construction site, the amount of data needs to be analyzed and visualized in a clear way, which means that the company's construction management services can act based on the information without necessarily possessing expertise in the subject area. This bachelor degree project aims to assist the company with knowledge of drying climate during construction condition, linked to the drying of construction moisture. During the work, the conditions for effective drying of construction moisture have been studied with respect to variations in drying climate. Another study also conducted, was to find out when the company in a general case may complement drying climate with increased ventilation and/or dehumidification to keep the drying climate at a steady level in the building year round. As background to the subject, a description of the factors controlling the drying climate is presented in the report, theoretical and specifically for the project. The results of the study show that the conditions for effective drying of construction moisture have been the case of the building sites that has been sampled, in the sense that a majority of climate trends follow the established criteria in the project's moisture safety plan. The study also shows that increased ventilation and/or dehumidification may be applied as a supplement in the period from March/April until October/November at which time the dehydration strategy can revert back to warming indoor air only.

Full textTo have a chance to change the trend of increased greenhouse gases are international collaborations necessary. Therefore, the EU through the environmental quality objective of Reduced Environmental Impact sat requirements for maximum allowable emissions of greenhouse gases. Reducing energy use for heating is a step that also reduces emissions of carbon dioxide; which is one of the greenhouse gases. Reducing energy use can be done in several ways, including by increasing the thickness of the insulation or heat recovery from exhaust air. However, these measures should not be uncritically made. The use of a rotating heat exchanger is a means to recover heat from exhaust air. The air then passes a rotor with open channels that rotates around its own axis over to the supply air side. This allows moisture transfer regardless of whether or not the rotor is hygroscopic. That is, the ability of the channel wall to take up water molecules or not. Measurements of relative humidity, temperature and dew point has been made on three objects. Thereafter steam content and efficiencies was calculated. In other words, the objects are referred to single- ore two-family homes where a rotary heat exchanger is installed in the ventilation system. The objects are located in Linköping, Stockholm and Norway. An example calculation is set up that shows how moisture efficiency is affected by different moisture addition. In reality in which the conditions is not stationary the moisture supplement that is a prerequisite for the results of these calculation examples. In this report, the writer thus concluded that moisture reversal will occur even for non- hygroscopic heat exchangers. Although the moisture efficiency corresponds with a certain slowness in the recovery of a temporarily elevated moisture addition. Moisture efficiency is significant for moisture supplement of about 1-2 g/m3.

Full textTo create a good indoor climate in apartment buildings, high demands are made on the ventilation system to take care of the moisture that is created. There is therefore reason to investigate if Boverket, the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, requirements for minimum airflow are sufficient from a moisture point of view. The purpose is to rise awareness about increasing additional moisture in newly built apartment buildings, which could change the project planning of ventilation systems in the future. In order to investigate whether requirements of the Boverket building regulations are sufficient from a moisture point of view, relative humidity and additional moisture were analyzed in four apartment buildings in Jönköping. Several apartments received high values of additional moisture and relative humidity which could damage the building and affect human health. The requirements of Boverket building regulations for minimum airflow should therefore be reviewed.
