Abstract:
The current study was conducted for evaluating the effects of two different strategies viz., phase control and cycle control, on the microwave/air drying process. A phase-controlled electrical power regulator was developed and connected in series with the original cycle-controlled power regulator of an existing domestic microwave oven. The microwave oven was further modified such that combined microwave and convectional drying can be accommodated.
The system performance was evaluated. It was observed that phase-controlled power regulator could be successfully used for quasi-continuous

Abstract:
In this thesis, the problem of closed loop control during the thermoforming sheet reheat process is considered. The approach aims to improve the material distribution of a formed thermoplastic part via better sheet temperature control prior to forming. Improved control of material distribution will increase part quality and result in fewer part rejects, thereby increasing production efficiency.
A process model consisting of individual components describing sensor, heater, and sheet heating dynamics has been developed. Recommendations for improvements to the process model, particularly for t

There is not much literature on Latin American air transportation industry, thus it might not be well known that Latin America has been facing globalization in what has been called a unique way. Many countries have gotten together in different forums to discuss changes in substantial ownership and effective control restrictions, but only few have taken steps in that direction. Colombia, a country that considers air transport as a public service, has eliminated all restrictions for foreign investment in na

Abstract:
One-, two- and three-dimensional transient heat transfer finite element models are developed to simulate the resistance welding process of pre-consolidated unidirectional AS4 carbon fibre reinforced Poly-ether-ether-ketone (APC-2/AS4) laminates with a metal mesh heating element, in a lap-shear configuration. The finite element models are used to investigate the effect of process and material parameters on the thermal behaviour of the coupon size welds, yielding to a better understanding of the process. The 1-D model determines: (a) the importance of including the latent heat of PEEK, an

This thesis presents a mathematical process model for the dynamic analysis of a vertical reheat boiler and the application of this model to the optimal design of a drum water level controller. A numerical finite difference technique is used to formulate this model.
The control system contains two loops, a feedfoward loop using the steam flow and drum pressure signals as the input and a feedback loop using the deviation of the measured drum water level from its set point as an input. The feedback loop is an incremental PID controller with an adjustable proportional gain. The feedfoward loop

Do more informed voters take account of a wider range of factors in formulating their vote choice? Do differences in the considerations employed in the vote calculus lead to different vote outcomes? Do political institutions and electoral complexity affect the relationship between information and the vote decision process and vote choice? Using survey data from the Australian, British, Canadian, New Zealand, and U.S. election studies (21 studies in total), this research tests how political information heterogeneity affects both the vote decision process and choice. In addition, this relationsh
