This article presents a comparative assessment of energy consumption and fume emissions such as NOx, CO2, and CO associated with the excavation of a specified gypsum volume using two mining methods (blasting and mechanical extraction). The analysis was carried out based on a case study gypsum open-pit mine in Poland where both extraction methods are applied. The findings indicate that, for the same output volume, blasting operations require significantly less energy (ranging from 1298.12 MJ to 1462.22 MJ) compared to mechanical excavation (86,654.15 MJ). IntroductionFirefighting is a hazardous occupation, where firefighters are involved in life-threatening situations, being placed under tremendous physical strain, while wearing heavy and insulated equipment to protect them from chemicals, fumes and high temperatures. This necessitates that firefighter stay in good physical condition and maintain adequate cardiovascular fitness to cope with these stressors and perform their duties with minimal health risks. The traditional information extraction technology of dashboard is easily affected by external factors, and the robustness is poor. To improve the safety of the pilot’s performance on the dashboard, this paper proposes a way for extracting the dashboard feature information in eye tracking, which acquires the line of sight point in simulated dashboard. It then uses the Mask R-CNN method to detect the gaze area and then extracts the target feature information. Finally, it fuses two sets of data to get the result of the pilot who extracts the target gaze area in the scene. Experiment results show

The purpose of multisource map super-resolution is to reconstruct high-resolution maps based on low-resolution maps, which is valuable for content-based map tasks such as map recognition and classification. However, there is no specific super-resolution method for maps, and the existing image super-resolution methods often suffer from missing details when reconstructing maps. We propose a map super-resolution (mapSR) model that fuses local and global features for super-resolution reconstruction of low-resolution maps. Specifically, the proposed model consists of three main modules: a shallow f

To address this issue, we developed magnetic particles using fumed silica as a safer alternative to TEOS for magnetite particle preparation for DNA extraction. The method effectively extracts DNA from various biological matrices, including urine, serum, saliva, sputum, whole blood, and plasma, without detectable inhibitors. The extracted DNA is suitable for downstream molecular applications such as qPCR and sequencing. The proposed magnetic particle

Social events comprise some of the most popular topics in social media. Automatically identifying planned social events and extracting structured information, such as event title, date, and location, would enable more effective index, display and search for social events. However, the informal and noisy nature of language used in social media can degrade the quality of event extraction, resulting in broken titles, incorrect or absent attributes - making the resulting event databases not suitable for realistic applications. Previous work mostly focused on event identification and categorization

Although deep learning methods can extract features of optical and SAR images well, efficiently fusing two modality features for glacial lake extraction with high accuracy is challenging. Human tissue specimens (n = 34) subjected to the 12-min BBB method yielded 0.40 ± 0.17 (mean ± SD) μg of gDNA per milligram of tissue, sufficient for many downstream applications, and 3- and 6-min extensions resulted in an additional 0.43 ± 0.23 μg and 0.48 ± 0.43 μg per milligram of tissue, r

Food additive amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO2) particles are manufactured by two different methods—precipitated and fumed procedures—which can induce different physicochemical properties and biological fates. Their fates in intestinal cells, intestinal barriers, and tissues after oral administration in rats were determined by optimizing Triton X-114-based cloud point extraction (CPE). Situational awareness (SA) is crucial in disaster response, enhancing the understanding of the environment. Social media, with its extensive user base, offers valuable real-time information for such scenarios.
