The surface-induced dipole moments of adsorbed adatoms Ga, In, and Sn on Mo were determined experimentally using field-ion and field-emission microscopy. The procedure of the experiment consisted of measuring the change in work function of Mo due to the adsorbed adatoms. AbstractSN 1987A has been observed with the Chandra X-ray Observatory over the entire course of the mission. We have re-analyzed the archival data by constructing an empirical point spread function and reconstructing high-resolution images using a Bayesian multi-scale image reconstruction algorithm. The interferon (IFN) gamma production of splenocytes from closely related C57BL/10ScSn (Sn) and C57BL/10ScCr (Cr) mice was compared. Concanavalin A and CD3 monoclonal antibodies induced high levels of IFN-gamma in both Sn and Cr splenocytes. By contrast, treatment with gram-negative bacteria induced IFN-gamma only in Sn splenocytes; in Cr splenocytes, the IFN-gamma response was heavily impaired. We have investigated the wetting angle, side band growth, and intermetallic compound formation of seven SnPb alloys on Cu ranging from pure Sn to pure Pb. The wetting angle has a minimum near the middle composition and increases toward pure Sn and pure Pb, but the side band growth has a maximum near the middle composition. The intermetallic compounds formed are Cu6Sn5 and Cu3Sn for the eutectic and high-Sn alloys, yet for the high-Pb alloys, only Cu3Sn can be detected.
